No Beat Ups--Just Get Ups

Monday, October 18, 2010

That's my day today. I did so good when we had lunch yesterday but it was total disaster later at home. But that was yesterday and today is a new day.Today has been much better.
It was another day of feeling tired for some reason. I still did 21 minutes of chair exercises. And I did sit in sunshine for about 10 minutes. He was pretty hot after 10 minutes.
We never did make it to grocery store so we went tonight after Bill got off work.I met him at our favorite Greek restaurant called Mr Souvlaki. I had the appetizer size Dolmades which is stuffed grape leaves. And some greek salad ofcourse.
Since we both had our vehicles Bill stopped at 7-11 on the way home to get us a fountain drink.I missed it again. There are a lot of strange people at that store. So here is another of Bill's 7-11 adventure. He said when he drove in there were 2 guys and a gal standing outside. The girl had a super short skirt on but that's not the best.He said as soon as he pulled in she pulled her whole skirt waayyy up and staring at him was her butt in a t-back. Then she proceeded to pull on some jogging pants.I almost hurt myself laughing. And I missed it. emoticon
ok I think I will sit back and watch DWTS. Hope your day went well

Oh...toooo funny! Poor Bill...he probably didn't know what the HECK to make of that one! Don't you just hate it when you miss out on a great 'side show'? I must be morbid because I laugh my guts out when people slip and fall. Of course after I manage to ask them if they are okay. But I'll never forget one of the promos for 'Funniest home movies' when they had a lady that got bucked off a horse...she went flying and did a few bounces. The poor thing...but for some reason...every SINGLE time I saw that no matter HOW many times I saw made me split a gut! Aw..oh...I better not ride any horses...karma will get me for sure! emoticon emoticon

Greek food is one of my many downfalls. Saganaki, gyros, pasticcio, mousaka and dolmades. Then baklava. And of course, agavolemeno soup and greek salad to start. I think you did great with just dolmades. emoticon

Bill needs to keep a journal of his "Adventures." Then he can write a book!!!

I, too, have never heard of stuffed grape leaves. Can you tell me about them?

DWTSs is getting very interesting!!!! Lots of talent shows through each week and much improvement.

I am off to spend the day with my Mom.
Take care....... emoticon

Speaking of Bill, how is he feeling?

What is in a stuffed grape leaf? I've never eaten Greek food. I don't even know if there's a restaurant near me that sells it.

We had planned on getting groceries but Bill is still tired. We did get some errands done tho. And we went to Olive Garden for lunch.I carried in my calorie book and altho there was several others I would have loved to get I stuck to the best choices. i had minestrone soup, linguine with marinara sauce, 1/2 bread stick and small bread plate of salad. According to my book and Olive garden web site everything came to 545. That was pretty good. emoticon
Then we stopped at Michaels to find some flower vases that can be siliconed to the headstones. We found some good ones for Tony's and a good one for my Mom and even a grecian looking one for my Daddy. Bill will put holes in them so water will drain out. We also got a few new bright colored flowers. It will look so much nicer that the plastic tubes we have holding flowers.
Then we went by my son Benjamin's to drop off 2 big boxes of boy clothes that Heidi brought for them. The baby isn't due until Dec and it is already over 5#.She has big babies.
Benjamin had asked me a few weeks ago if I minded if they called the baby Anthony James and i told him it was his baby. But I thought about it and it does bother me.I told him last night I would rather he did not use the Anthony. So he called today and asked me how I like Tyler.I told him I really liked it and I do.I told him he could keep the James part as that didn't bother me. But I do like Tyler James and they can still call him TJ which I also like.
So now I am trying to catch up with my email and sparking

This is for my Chair Exercise Team

The challenge this week is to write a blog giving at least three excuses you give yourself for either not keeping to your calorie allowance, or not doing exercise when you should or as much as you should, or even for not getting into the whole diet and exercise thing!!.
Then I want you to write down the steps you are going to take to rectify these excuses so that you either stay in calorie range or complete your full exercise program
3 excuses I use
1.Too tired or sick
2 Tired of trying and failing
3 Miss favorite fattening foods

What I am doing to rectify
1 Sometimes I really am too tired or sick to exercise and those day I work extra hard to control my calories.
2.Remind myself where I could be if I actually give up. Do a lot of self talk. Remind myself No Beat Ups--Just Get Ups
3. Plan for a time to have one of the foods I would normally have.Like fried fish etc. Only have them on limited basis. That way I can be good most of time and not feel deprived. Portion control and moderation.

Ok my dear friends It is nap time for the old gal.It is beautiful weather here,I think I will go sit outside first and then take a nap.Hope you are all having a good weekend
This is my grandson Christopher and granddaughter Kayla

Beautiful grandkids and I know you are proud of them. Aren't grand kids wonderful?? I only have two GS's and they are grown, but they are still granny's little boys.
Has Bill been to the Dr.? One of my neighbors has been sick for seems like a month and she went to the Dr. on Friday...she has pneumonia! So he might need to check it out.
Olive Garden is one of my favorite places to eat. But limit how often I allow myself to go. Ted doesn't care for it, so I usually go with friends.

I haven't been to Olive Garden in a year. I love that place. They just opened one in town and it's busy all the time. Our friends went for lunch at 2PM and they had to wait for an hour for a table. All the Olive Gardens around here are busy like that. I love their soup, salad, & breadstick lunch deal.

If Addison was a boy we were going to name her Tyler Jakob with the nickname TJ.

I believe in treating yourself to the foods you like. It's about moderation and not going overboard. Planning is key. You can still have a treat now and then and still lose weight.

Cute pictures of the grandkids!

It was very nice having Brianna spend the night. She did several things for me around the house and even cooked our supper. She cooked baked spaghetti that was too good ate too much.We had tons left over but I froze it and will feed it to her next week.
Bill had breakfast with his daughters and Landon this morning. They know I don't go anywhere in the early morning. Guess they didn't really want to to go. No big deal. I am just happy Bill got to see landon.
Then Bill and I went out for lunch so I could get my pizza fix.We go to a place where I can get just 2 pieces.I also get my Avgolemono soup.
Then my oldest son and his wife came by for a short visit,They live in North Florida so i don't get to see them very often. It was good to see them.
Bill was sleeping as he is still puny.He is going to doctor tomorrow. The antibiotic he took didn't help a lot.
He has read a whole chapter in the Miss Julia book I gave him. I have 8 of them so I have plenty for him to read. He reads slow but thats ok.He is reading.
Brianna's supper was hard to calculate calories so I am calling it out of range. My scale was down a little more this morning so that was good.
I did get my exercises done first thing,
We did go over to the cemetery to check flowers.I can't believe how the new section has filled up.When I had my son moved there and got plots for us next to him we were about 3rd people to have a site. I had to wait 6 months to move Tony until they got approval to use that section of land. Some of the grave sites are so awesome. Some beautiful stones. I want to get a bench put up but haven't yet.I have our stone in place and it is double hearts. We saw a bunch out there now like it.
Ok Time to go chill.Tomorrow will be grocery day this week. Hope you are all having a great weekend

Tell me about the it chicken, orzo, and lemon? My dad had his and his wife's stones ahead of time and it made it easier on us when the time came, Larry and I had decided we wanted to be cremated and had the site listed in our will. When he left first, I bought two side by sides and our brass plates will match...a cross in the middle. It's good to be prepared. We, of course, know the best is yet to come! Had a good day with the kids, but my nerves are a little stretched. Gracie and I can't wait until bedtime! She did great with them, even though Tyler is on the loud and rambunctious side and he's a little careless with his food. Candyland has been played, two trips outside for play, many stories, showers done, supper over, winding down with Suite Life on Deck. (Disney) I've had a good day food and exercise wise...water is consumed. Don't let Bill get too run down.

p.s. I looked the soup's what I thought it was..without the chicken. I used to work at Greek restaurants when I was in college. LOVE the stuff!

It has been another busy day for me. Got a lot done. For me. A lot for me isn't much for other people.
I did get my exercises done first. Took care of some emails.Made myself some low cal broccoli and cauliflower soup.No milk in it.
Then made my humongous pot of soup. While it was cooling I got started on making my medicine. Will finished then up later.
Brianna is coming over to cook supper and do a few other things. She is working off a loan Bill made to her. He told her she couldn't pay it off.He wanted her to work it off.
I am going to let her fill my medicine bags with the potassium pills.Thats 56 baggies she will have to fill. Then she is cooking supper and cleaning up after all by herself.
I did good with calories again last night.I wasn't low but was in range and not at very top of range.
Today was my weigh in day and I was hoping for more but I did have a 1# loss. I am happy just to see a loss.
We are suppose to get some cooler weather which will just make it perfect weather. I think the daytime is suppose to be in the low 80's.Fantastic weather.
I am very happy to report that Bill just started his 4th book. He was telling me the other day that even as a kid he never read books. I told him I had worked my magic again and made him a reader. He is just starting a Miss Julie book.Since I have 8 of them he will have plenty to read. He wasn't going to read it but I talked him into at least read a few pages. He read the first chapter and decided he would read it.
He still isn't feeling up to par but hopefully he will get back to normal soon.
Ok I better get ready for Brianna. Hope your day was good.
Oh All the soup is bagged and in freezer so I am set with soup for another week or so

First need to correct what I said yesterday. Thanks to 2 of my spark friends I realized it is the hot red peppers that will help you lose weight. I will pass.I do not like them. But I will keep using the sweet peppers as they give my salads extra crunch and they make a good snack. Now
For some good news. I ended the day under my range with 1200 cal. I wasn't planning on being that low and I will work to stay a little higher than that but yes I am surprised and pleased I did it once and did not starve myself.
I am finished with the aprons. Some want to see them and I don't know why as they are not anything special. But they work for me and allow me to carry my cell phone close regardless of what I have on. The red striped one is a full apron I bought a long time ago but never used as it was so big and stiff. I cut it down and remade it like the others

Now that I am finished I gathered up all the mess in sewing room and will straighten it up.I also pulled out all the threads to rebottle. I love the card table for sorting stuff
And here are the cactus I put in art room where I can see them from living room. The second picture is the one on right. It is going to have some very pretty flowers on it.
And here is a picture of my oldest son William. When I saw all the grey hair in his beard I remembered I was old.Altho Bill reminded me that I am only 17 years older than my son. emoticon
And this is his wife Tresia and their son Christian.

They went out with friends to fish but boat started taking on water and Coast Guard was called. My son doesn't know how to swim.
I got all my exercises done today so that is good. Trying to think of something for supper.Since tomorrow is my new weigh in day i don't want to fix something that will mess that up.And what we eat can do that.
It is a beautiful day again. I forget to go outside yesterday but will go as soon as I finish this. I am so far behind on all my emails.
I have rambled enough. Hope you are all having a good day.

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
I love your aprons and your photos. emoticonon your weight loss. I gained a couple pounds but will work them off. Doctor doesn't want me to do aerobic exercise for at least another month. She wants me to concentrate on working really hard in therapy, she said these next 4 weeks are important for getting the rest of mobility back in leg. I can bend to 110, we're trying to get to 115-120. So she signed a script for another 4 wks of therapy and said she'll see me after that and determine whether I need more. Husband went to doctor yesterday and got a flu shot. He took me out to dinner after that and we got a flat tire at the doctors office but we called road assistance and were helped very quickly with that. Dinner was nice, we like this asian buffet that has american food too, food is very fresh and wait staff very accomodating. I was good..well, have a great day today, we'll talk to you soon, I am still going to call you some day..

I ADORE your ostrich drawing...I remember seeing it in one of the first blogs I read of yours. You are a talented artist/gardener/chef and humorist. Sometimes your manner of writing reminds me of Erma Bombeck.
Anyway, it sounds like you're having a good day. Hope Bill is fully well soon and that you don't catch his cold!

Nice looking family. How do you live in Florida and not learn how to swim? I am not very good at it but I can float!
