Another dreary Wet day.

Friday, August 27, 2010

Raining off and on all day.
We went to lunch today after we both had doc appointments.Mine was just a coumidan check. His was to see lung doc after final sleep study. His 2nd night with mask made a huge difference. No sleep apnea at all with mask.Snoring went from 3000 to 129.Huge difference. His doc uses a different place than mine. They did call today and he just talked to them. They will be bringing his machine on monday. He is getting the soft nose pillows too.He had said he wasn't but changed his mind because of hiss mustache. So next week will be interesting with us both on machines. I did my best yet last night. I slept almost 2 hours which I rarely do. I did get up for awhile but used it again and got another 2 hours. So maybe I will survive the monster.
I am way behind on my daily goals for today. I will post them tomorrow when I see how the rest of the day goes.
We stopped on the way home to pick up just a few things at grocery store as we will do our shopping tonight. i just waited in car and did my people watching. I have come to the conclusion that I am missing a woman gene. I watched probably 30 women go into the store and all but 3 were carrying a great big pocket book. WHY????? I do keep my purse in car as I carry my camera and a few odds and ends stuff. But I have a small change purse that hold any cards or money and it fits in my pocket. Sometimes I just grab my debit card out and I am ready to go. So my dear lady friends I ask you.Why do you carry a big purse everywhere you go. Maybe I am still just a tomboy at heart. emoticon
Ok I need to go take some medicine and see about some of my daily goals. I hope you are all looking forward to go good weekend. I will be a bowling widow on Sunday and Bill is going away for the day for a senior bowling tournament. Next week he goes back to bowling every friday. He is looking forward to it.
Ok I am gone.

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
Busy last several days, we had our cookout/crab feast yesterday, it was nice but such alot of work but great seeing everyone. Sat. night, I celebrated with my son, his wife and his friends his 28th birthday and I partied like a rock star. It was so much fun! I was tired the next day though. My surgery is fast approaching unfortunately but like you said, I'll feel so much better when back home and recuperating. I can't have vitamin E or motrin, asprin, only tylenol. My vitamins have vitamin e so I just won't take right now and my omega 3 has vitamin e, can't take that either. My dieting is going ok, no great shakes but not gaining at least. I'm glad you enjoyed your seafood dinner, it does sound good. They told us in my diet class that if there is something that is calling your name, eat it and get right back on the diet. They said if you keep depriving yourself, you could totally fall off diet. Anyhoo, love the cactus pics, talk to you soon,

Margaret emoticon

Maybe it's an old lady gene - I have gotten A to the point that she sometimes only carries keys if I'm with her, and just keys and a debit card a lot of the time. Otherwise, she has a small purse.

LOL! I only carry a purse when I'm going to be out for a while and want to carry food and water with me!!! Otherwise, I just have a little "credit card wallet" that I pocket (or put in my lunchbag/gymbag when I'm going to work or the gym and not shopping.

Wallet and keys in one pocket, pedometer and phone in the other. DONE!

And I don't carry giant purses when I do carry... just enough to hold water and a snack bar or apple and maybe my small camera. These giant sink hole bags - I don't "get" them either!

I know what you mean about those purses. Heck I don't even carry a wallet. Cards go in my back pocket and money and other things in my front pockets.

Glad to hear your hubby is getting his machine. What a differents in those numbers!

I carry a purse all the time. I have so much stuff, I never know when it will come in handy. I carry my wallet (which is a little bulky), my cell phone, LOTS of pens, my medication, Tylenol, at least 4 different types of gum, anti bacterial hand sanitizer, chapstick (usually a few different kinds), a Tide stain stick since I'm a slob, my keys, and sunglasses. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Oh yeah, crayons (for Alex when we dine out) and band aids too. I'm a tomboy too but I need my purse.

You did great with the mask last night. Maybe you'll be so tired from the lack of sleep you'll zonk out. I think that's amazing that Bill only had 129 snores. Bill's mask will help you both since he won't be snoring as much.

Another Rainy Day

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I am ready for some sunshine.
i only lasted an hour last night at two different times on evil machine but did dose a little. But this afternoon when I laid down for a nap I didn't expect to fall asleep but I did.I probably slept 30 minutes which is a record so far with machine. I think as everyone has said I will be ok with time. Bill sees the lung doc tomorrow and they should order him one then. He was like a freight train for awhile last night. A "loving pat "got him to stop snoring.
I finally went out and put the bulbs that my sister gave me into a pot.
Then I checked out my monster orchid. As some of you know I do have a lot of orchids but I have one huge one. It had 12 bloom shoots on it and was growing again. I found two good sized branches that had roots and Bill helped me put them in another pot.
First picture is the big one on right and the one on left is ones I cut off of it.
Then the new pot by itself and then another view of big guy. The big one is getting buds all over the bud shoots.i don't know correct name for stem that comes out with blooms

1 Exercise at least 10 minutes every day- 17 minutes
2 eat slower. *******yep used timer at lunch and supper
3.Get up and walk to bedroom and back 8 times******done
4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much. But mainly aim to be in the range ***** Not totally sure where I ended up last night as I had a big one pot meal and then I had some buttered crackers. If I went over it couldn't have been by much
5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing ****** This is still going good.
6 Do 2 reps of 12 with hand weights every day****** done

I did get some very sad news. One of my spark friends BORROWEDANGEL1 Is losing her battle with cancer. She is going home with hospice and they can do nothing to help her. If you are not getting your mammograms please do so.Not doing it could costs you your life
At least I was finally able to get an address to send her some cards.

Ok Bill put the card table up so that means he is going to play a board game with me.He took out the upwords game last week and we never got to it.
Ok I hope your day is going great.

Love orchids! You seem to have the "knack" of keeping them healthy...green thumb so to speak. I have an orchid. I have had it about 4 months. It is one of those that you water by putting in 3 ice cubes once a week. If I would have known that that is the trick to keeping them, I would have gotten more and would have kept more. So far it is doing good and is still in bloom. It is such a beautiful plant, I hate to see the day when it is ready to lose its flowers.
I am sorry to hear about your friend...I am glad that Hospice is there for her and the family. They are wonderful to have in the time of need and are such a blessing.

I'm glad you're slowly getting the hang of the breathing machine, but sorry that your friend is in hospice care. It's a strange thing - everyone dies, but you're never really ready. On the other hand, when you think you're a short timer, or rather, when I thought I was a short timer, maybe, I just shrugged and got my affairs in order. If there's no choice I just said, OK - so what?

I don't know if I would feel the same way the next time, and I'm not in any hurry to find out. I still feel bad when someone goes - my friend from high school lost the battle with cancer recently, and I still miss him. I have a lot of them to miss, if I think about it.

Your plants look so healthy. I have a violet at work and it's not doing so good. I think I need to bring it home and repot it. The other plant I repotted a few months back is doing great. I should get a picture of it. I need to find somebody to take care of it while I'm off.

Rain Rain and More Rain

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

It is pouring rain outside. I am ready for some sunshine. Poor Angel has part of her roof cave in and they are out in this downpour trying get a tarp up.She is stressing out big time.I would too.
I did a little better on the monster machine.I lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes and then another 30 minutes. If I can add a few minutes every night I may get it. I found out that I have 3 months to to get use to it.I have to be on it for 4 hours a night for 20 days out of 30 for medicare to pay for it. The lady called today to tell me and to get numbers. So far I have only used it for a total of 11 hours. She said what everyone says about it being hard to get use to it.

1 Exercise at least 10 minutes every day- 17 minutes
2 eat slower. --- 20 minutes on timer
3.Get up and walk to bedroom and back 8 times. Still have 2 more to do but will get it done
4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much. But mainly aim to be in the range I went over last night but only by a small amount
5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing I have stopped using it when I cook. If I use it it is after food is cooked. No more on my tomatoes/cucumbers.
6 Do 2 reps of 12 with hand weights every day Doing 2nd set in a minute.

Make a great pot roast tonight.I thought Angel was coming but she had to deal with her house. So that meant extra and I did eat more than I would have if they had been here.

Ok Got a few things to do before the new cooking show with Gordon Ramsey comes on. Hard to believe but he is one of the nice guys.

Very Rainy Day

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

It has been raining all day.Very hard downpours at times.Like right now
I did a little better last night with machine. I lasted for over an hour and slightly dozed off a couple of times. But mouth opened and air comes gushing out. I am going to make me an elastic strap to wear tonight.Nothing tight.Just enough to keep mouth from dropping when I relax yet with it being elastic I can still open my mouth if I want to. Thanks to Emily I called and had them come and adjust the ramp rate from 20 minutes to 45 minutes. That will give me more time to fall asleep before it gets to full pressure. I asked about getting a mask to try but i would have had to turn in pillows or else pay around$150 just for a plastic mask. Decided to stick with pillows for now.

1 Exercise at least 10 minutes every day- Did 17,16,12,12 increments
2 eat slower. --- 20 minutes for lunch and supper. I usually aim for 30 at night but didn't make that
3.Get up and walk to bedroom and back 8 times. Just did the last one a minute ago
4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much. But mainly aim to be in the range Stayed in range yesterday
5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing this is going great
6 Do 2 reps of 12 with hand weights every day just finished the second set

So my daily goals are going good.

Another of my childhood friends just passed away.Do any of you remember the song Key Largo by Bertie Higgins. It was his sister Joan who i was in school with thru the 10th grade when I quit to get married.

Here is a picture of a bunch of us. Yes I was a girl scout emoticon

Well I am no closer to getting use to C-pap. I called to see about getting a mask so I can see if that might work better. So far about an hour is max I can stand it and have never fell asleep with it on yet. When I did the sleep test I had the mask and I did sleep a little. So altho I know it is going to be worth it right now I hate that monster machine.
It has been dreary and rainy all day.Has been coming down really hard the past couple of hours..
Ever wonder what butterflies and birds do when it rains. Here is a butterfly that just hung on for hours in same spot while it rained. And notice the the birds who are cleaning their feathers as they are wet and then see what they did when rain started up again

And here are new ear rings I got to make c-pap easier to use

I changed my goals a little today and added a new one

1 Exercise at least 15minutes every day- it was 10 minutes and I have changed it to 15 done
2 eat slower. --- 30 minutes for lunch and supper
3.Get up and walk to bedroom and back 8 times. have done 10
4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much. But mainly aim to be in the low side went over last night.
5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing still doing good
6 Do 2 reps of 12 with hand weights every day This is new one and it is done. I keep the weights next to computer so no excuse to not do it
Ok Time to get kitchen taken care of.It was steamed and baked veggies with sautéed chicken

Yesterday is a cancelled check and tomorrow is a promissory note. But today is cash ready for us to spend in living,

I never thought about what a butterfly does in the rain. For some reason when you brought it up, I thought they'd hide. The birds are cute. I like the picture with the 2 of them snuggling with their heads together.

I need to use weights. We were looking at dog toys at the store and I couldn't get it to squeak. Jason and Alex had no problems but I had to use both hands to make it squeak. I'm a weakling.
