Finally Some Good News

Things are still not good with kids but have good news about me.
Saw my heart doc today and we went over the sleep study. I do not have severe sleep apnea.But 1st test did show I had 17 episodes where I did stop breathing but not for a long period.But my 02 levels did drop too low. The mask greatly improved that.No neck apnea at all. They also suggested I be given ambein to help me even more to sleep. Mostly to help me get adjusted to mask. I am going to ask them about the buttons which are suppose to be much easier to use.I am looking forward to sleeping.
Next I talked to him about one of my meds that was changed to a generic and it isn't working as well. He told me that the generics can by law be off by 30% which is a lot.He changed two of my generic to non generic.I would rather paid more for a med that works.I do have good insurance for my meds.
Next and this may not sound great but it is.I don't see him for 3 months.It has been a long time since i went that far between visits.It is usually anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months tops.
My sweet Brianna came over today and changed the bed sheets and vacuumed. It is kinds nice when she comes without her Mom as it gives us time for one on one talks.
Bill sees the doctor about his sleep apnea which I am positive is severe. I think he is also looking forward to feeling better and not being so tired during the night.

Ok My daily goals
1 Exercise at least 10 minutes every day- Still have to do but I will
2 eat slower. --- Didn't use timer at lunch but will at supper
3.Get up every 30 minutes and walk to bedroom and back. Still haven't done this.
4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much.But mainly aim to be in the range I am working on this. One good thing is if I do go over it isn't a large amount. So there is an improvement here
5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing and am doing much better

So I think I will go get at least that 10 minutes done and then I will start supper.

    hi Eleni, glad to hear the good news, will be glad for you to get some good sleep. i have some trouble too sleeping i don,t fall asleep sound i can tell you what i hear outside and i do alot of toss and turning.my sheets tell me that too.they all end up in the middle.well Eleni, have a good weekend.take care. emoticon emoticon

    I am glad to hear your good news. I think kids will always keep us on our toes. Mine sure have been lately too. Love them and pray for them...that's my motto. What else can you do ? And be there for support when they need you of course. You seem to be getting back on track. Great goals.

    Once again, I have fallen off of your blog list. I think if I missed commenting on one, then I don't get the next one. I will try to keep better eye on it.

DH loves his Cpap machine, is sleeping better and is feeling much more energy during the day. I was surprised that he didn't have any problems getting used to it. They are so quiet these days. I don't even hear it.

Take care and keep us posted about how you do with the mask.

    Sounds like you're really getting the sleep challenge figured out!
The machine can work if you don't get frustrated with the way it feels.
Just don't let that Ambien send you to sleep eating like so many people!

    I know you are relieved to have these test over..now maybe you can get a good nights sleep which will make a big difference in the way you feel.

    17 times sounds like a lot. That's scary!! I'm glad you & Bill are getting your sleep apnea taken care of.

I'm with you on the generic meds. I'd rather pay a little more and get something that works. I don't buy anything generic though. My co-workers are always teasing me about that.

I think your goals are great. I may have to steal some after Addison is born.

    Good news! Seems like things are looking up for you. Hope the machine helps you and Bill. I have a friend who has had one for a couple of years. Sure helps her!
Like your goal setting! Even if you don't get to all of them in a day, it lets you know where you are, and makes you aware of what you need to be doing. A positive step...which is always good!

    Wow! That is some incredible news regarding your sleep apnea. My Dad had to wear a mask at night as well, and said how uncomfortable it was. I am happy to hear that you won't have to see the Dr. for another three months. Good luck with achieving your goals this month :)

Did not sleep well last night and day was stressful Thankfully day will soon be over.

Got good news on c-pak. They didn't get all the paperwork but they will be delivering the c-pak in the next couple of days. It looks like the most I may have to pay is around $300 and it might even be less. I am happy with that.I am not looking forward to wearing the thing but am looking forward to the benefits.

1 Exercise at least 10 minutes every day- Did after supper - Just did 12 minutes. Will do more tomorrow

2 eat slower. --- I did good at lunch.Set my timer and made lunch last 20 minutes. Did not do it at supper. probably lasted 20 minutes but only because I ate so much.

3.Get up every 30 minutes and walk to bedroom and back. Didn't do it today

4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much.But mainly aim to be in the range I am already over . As of today 5 out of 8 kids are in some kind of drama or crisis. Some minor some far from minor. Yes I had an eating binge of fries.Those calories mount up quickly.

5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing Am making progress here

I see my heart doc tomorrow and Bill sees a pulmonary doc on friday.
Angel and Brianna did not come today.Brianna is coming by tomorrow to change my sheets and a few other things. Angel has been dealing with her sister for me today so I told her to go home and relax and play with new puppy they just got.

Ok It is the finals for SYTYCD tonight. I am pretty sure the young girls will make Kent the winner altho the other two are both better than him.
OK I am going to chill and watch TV.

No Beat Ups Just get Ups!

That is my new mantra from my buddy Terri. So when I fall off the wagon I will just get up and not beat myself up.
Today has been good. I have been working on some daily goals to work on.

1 Exercise at least 20 minutes every day- Done- Got 40 minutes done of 10 minutes segments of 4 tapes

2 eat slower. ---When we went to Walmart the other day I picked up another timer.I lose them all the time. I told Bill I couldn't remember why I wanted one but knew I did. Well I used it today. At lunch I set it for 20 minutes and at supper I set it for 30 minutes and made the meals last that long. Supper got cold as I was eating so slow but thats ok.

3.Get up every 30 minutes and walk to bedroom and back. Didn't do it today but will use timer and try to do it tomorrow.

4. Attempt to stay in calorie range or at least not go over by much.But mainly aim to be in the range Day isn't over yet

5. To reduce salt usage. ongoing I eat a lot of sliced tomatoes as snacks and I used no salt.I also had watermelon last night without salt which I love on watermelon. Doesn't sound like much but it is a biggie for me.
So that is what I am working on this week.

Oh my popsicles turned out good. The pineapple ones were higher in calories but good. I had a small strawberry smoothie this afternoon for 38 cal. Have stuff to try a watermelon one later. Will experiment on both popsicles and smoothies.
Called doc's office today to find out why it is taking so long for my report from sleep center. They finally called back and left a message and said they didn't know why it took so long. He said I needed the c-pack and if I wanted to use the c-pack which would help me to call tomorrow and they will make the call. Not sure why I got a choice and Bill has to go see another doc. I will find out Thursday when I see doc.

Just made the watermelon smoothie and it's ok.More like an icee

Today was both sunny and rainy.The sun was shining brightly and in a matter of minutes it was doing this

I also changed my lunch around today. I made a salmon melt on light bread with a 25 cal slice of cheese. I took one pack of my soup and added a little beef broth and put my immersion blender to it and made a more broth like soup.Did not add any extra veggies.The whole meal was only 272 calories


So that was my day. Time to watch TV. I have both dvds going plus I am going to watch Gordon Ramsey new show Master chef of regular people.So far Gordon is the nice one of the 3 judges. Their challenge tonight is cutting onions.They have to do it perfect. few seconds 4 people cut themselves.The guy who only has 3 fingers on each hand just did a good job and advances.He is amazing. Next they have to cook one perfect egg.

Your popsicles sound good. And that rain!!! We have had a shower every afternoon for the past 3 days, not much, just enough to bring up the humidity and make it seem hotter!!! Your lunch looks good! I had salmon today, too!

    I like your attitude of getting things done even though the rain was in the way. Sounds like the timer plan is working good for you. I should make more smoothies. I don't know why I don't. They taste great and are low in calories...not to mention cool in the summer! I love to eat watermelon in the summer, it fills me up and is not bad in the calorie count. The salmon melt looks good. Blogging Late

I couldn't get on here earlier.
Not much going on. I have done better with eating but it isn't easy. A lot of stress going on with another family member. My son's daughter was arrested for attacking her parents. Her mother is pregnant and Florida is very strict on any pregnant woman being harmed. My daughter in law is ok and as is the baby. But needless to say they are all very upset. Hopefully my grand daughter will get help and not jail.she is only 15 years old.
other than that it has been an average day.
We did have a bad storm come thru this afternoon with loud thunder that shook the house.Lasted about an hour.
Well i really don't have anything to say.Have a good day tomorrow

You are doing so good! I love your goals too, there is no reason why you won't lose weight with these kind of days. I love rain, especially summer rains. Your food looks good too! We had leftovers last nite. I had split pea soup and half a turkey sandwich, just wasn't all that hungry, had a late lunch..wow, not much to report, I got weighed yesterday and was down almost 2 lbs from day previous, must be water but I'll take it.     Oh...I feel so badly for your family. Being a teen with a new baby coming must be a hard spot to be in. But attacking her mother is NOT acceptable. I remember when my daughter got so mad at me she chocked the living daylights out of me! She was about 16 at the time and I was all over her for staying out all hours of the night. She had just came back to live with us from spending a year with her father who let her run wild. Poor little Josh...he was just a tiny guy at the time...he ran over to Brandy and started smacking her leg saying "Sissy stop being mean to our mommy!" In the meantime I thought I might be a goner...Brandy was as strong as an ox...and as mad as she was it made her even stronger. DH was at work...I finally calmed myself down enough to calm her down..but I was always a little afraid of her and her volatile temper from that point forward. I feel so sorry for our parents and our kids as well..there is just SO much stress in the world and our kids really take the brunt of it.

My prayers will be with you and your family...prayers can work miracles...I know that to be true! emoticon emoticon

    hi there, i don,t like lightening, thunder don,t bother me.i,ll pray for your granddaughter. it is hard to be 15 and having a new bundle coming into the family. the family will have to tell her she will get lots of love even with a new baby here just like you would with a 4 or 5 year old.hope every thing goes well with the family.and everything gets better.don,t let this bother you too much even if it does . you don,t want to start eating bad stuff because of stress. try and have a good day. emoticon

  Oh Ms. Eleni, so sorry. 15 is such a hard age for girls, hormones and a new baby to take attention away from her.
Being a grandma of teenagers means walking on eggs sometimes, well actually being a parent does also. Time to concentrate on you and Bill and your health.
How wonderful to have a new camera and a new grandchild on the way, don't you just love taking and seeing baby pictures? So many wonderful expressions and adorable baby parts to photograph, lucky you.

    What a horrible situation! Good to hear momma and baby are OK. I agree, I hoe she gets the help she needs and not jail. She's so young and has her whole life ahead of her.

We had a big storm roll through early yesterday morning and scared the heck out of me. I had no idea it was supposed to storm. The thunder shook the house here too.

I hope today isn't as stressful!

This weekend sure went by fast.
We decided that the used walker just wasn't going to work. So we got a new one from Walgreens and it works great in the house. It is smaller and easier to maneuver in house.

I still had to wrap the meat I got yesterday so I got that all rewrapped and in freezer.Then I weighed and put chips in baggies. Bill keeps the chips locked up and I have to ask for them and if he isn't around I can't get into them. I made 150 cal bags. This has worked well. I get a taste of chips during the week but only the small bag.
I put both my double decker steamers to work for supper. I had all 4 baskets full. I have to bag up what is left to use during the week. We had an all veggie supper of cauliflower,brocolli,carrots,yellow squash and a few potatoes plus sliced fresh tomatoes.
I made a simple smoothie last night of fresh strawberries with a little water and some sweet & low. Added a few ice cubes and it was ready. I made a one cup amount early and all I have to do is add ice cubes and attach to blender and I have a great snack for later.I bought a 2 cup mini blender sometime back and it works great.I make the smoothie in it and drink it in same container.
I haven't tried the popsicles I made yet.Maybe I will do that later.
I did lose 1# this week. So I am always happy to just not gain. The night eating is better
Well I need to get kitchen cleaned up and veggies bagged.
This little guy stopped by today.


Once again I do want to ask that you resend me your address if you have sent it to me as I lost almost all of them when computer crashed.
Angi and Audra I lost all info you two sent me.

    Way to go on the loss this week! Any loss is better than a gain!!

I've noticed lately that we have lots of dragon flies flittering about but I've never seen one land.

Smoothies are yummy! I have a mini blender too (like the Bullet but a different brand) and I love it. I make smoothies in mine as well because I can use the cup to drink out of it. It's the perfect size. I never thought of using water.

    I started this once and lost it somehow. How are you Ms. Eleni? My email is: mcalv17819@aol.com. You and I have done good with eating this week, I'm with you, as long as I don't gain I'm happy and one pound down is one pound lost. Keep up good work!! Sorry to hear Bill has sleep apnea. What is the treatment? Has yours been determined yet? Did you make meat to go with Bill's veggies or is he like my Dad who always liked an all veggie meal? My parents were raised in the south so we had wonderful meals like brown beans and corned bread, ham and potatoes and string beans, baked chicken and roast beef on Sundays. Mom made great stews and soups too. I made split pea soup yesterday and bagged it up and freezed it. I'm making dinners that freeze well for when I come home from hospital after 2nd knee replacement. I'll only be getting around on walker and crutches so I want things to be as easy as possible. Well, I've run out of room, did you see my pics. I will add more, it's just not my favorite thing to do, don't know why..take care, talk soon,
