I over ate today too. We had a picnic and the food was yummy! Of course I had to try everything, even all the desserts. I did eat fruit too so I was totally bad. emoticon I was so full we just finished dinner now.

I won't watch manly movies with Jason. I either can't sit still long enough or I fall asleep if the movie doesn't captivate me. He will watch almost any movie I ask him to watch with me.

Very Hot Day in Florida

Saturday, July 31, 2010

The heat is absolutely unbearable down here. But I guess it is everywhere. Even tho Bill took my car in the AC is only a little better. The guy said some part of the problem is simple that it is so hot out.
Today was grocery day. We akso picked up some movies to watch. I stay in car while Bill goes in and keep car cool.We always have a few things that we can only get at Publix and I also stay in car while Bill goes in.Saves me being out in some of the heat.
My big adventure of the week is my trip to Winn Dixie.LOL But I am stocked up with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Have the veggies all put up.The grapes are washed and drying on counter.I took them off the stems and washed them.I got some reds and greens. I did get some chips that will be bagged in 1oz bags and locked up.i also got a small bag of cracker jacks that I will bag up.
We did stop at 7-11 and Bill got us a slurpee. I went to slurpee.com and found the calorie count.Wow. My treat was 266 cals. 66 cals per cup.No more big slurpees. Maybe a small one once a week which isn't bad. They do have some small one cup ones. i didn't think they would have that many calories.Thats what I get for thinking and not checking.
Tonight is every man for himself so I think I am going to have cabbage and shrimp.
I slept a little better last night but I do every once in awhile.
Nothing new going on. I am still not back on track but have done good today except for the slurpee slip up. I need to get back to my chair exercises. Going to make a goal of 10 minutes a day. Even I should be able to do that.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.
I am going to try to make some popsicles from fresh strawberries. I am going to experiment making Kale chips. Should be interesting anyway. emoticon
Here are a couple of pics. This was a large butterfly that was hiding from me. He/she is on plant that the butterflies like to lay eggs on.

And ofcourse another mockingbird just hanging out

It is a very hot day in Florida on Sunday too. My shirt was worn with the tail out, and the whole thing except for the tail was soaking wet when I finished with the lawn. The BW wanted to know if that was "all sweat?" and I assured her that it was. I hang my shirt in the garage to dry out before bringing it back into the house.

7-11 also has crystal light slurpees that are so refreshing and very low in calories.
Tried your idea of locking stuff up, have decided just not to have it in the house anymore just too tempting late at night.Guess I could just go to bed at 6pm, or get mad enough with myself to get back on this program and quite fooling around.
Your pictures are still great!.Have a super week.

The popsicles sound good!! You have better control over calories when you make them yourself.

I get a slurpee every now and then. I'm not a big fan but on hot days they taste good. I'm a big fan of the new smoothies from McDonald's. I'm scared to find out how many calories are in those.

We had a break from the 90 degree + heat and humidity, which has been nice. The humidity is supposed to return this week. We've had a hot summer, much different than last summer. Between the rain and the heat, I haven't been outside much, which is a bummer.

Jason has been leaving me in the car lately too if he needs to run in and get something quick. It's not to keep the car cool either. He said I walk too slow now and if he's in a hurry, he'd rather go in by himself. I told him it's his fault I walk slower now. I can't get 8 months pregnant by myself. emoticon

I freeze my grapes I like them that way it is like eating frozen dessert, ice cream comes to mind but that to is to high in calories. Hope things cool off for you we got up to about 67 here on the ocean bay today just a perfect temperature for our hike.

We Both Survived the Sleep Test

Friday, July 30, 2010

Yep That's right.We. I couldn't say anything earlier as Bill is much more private than I am. I probably tell way too much about myself. I couldn't say anything about him until he said it was ok. But he had the 1st part of the test last night and I had the 2nd half. After I had the first one I started teasing him about going and then we started talking about it more seriously. He finally admitted that he did need to do it.A quick call to our heart doc and he was being written a script. So we both went the same night. He did ok but not as well as I thought. I think for him it was more the bed. I will be very surprised if he doesn't have to go back.He has more open symptoms than I do. He snores loudly and will fall asleep sitting up in a chair.I do neither of these. He says I stop breathing some times while sleeping and I know he does.
I had a rough night. I went into panic mode when he first put mask on me.In fact it took 3 tries before I could leave it on. Once he told me I could pull it away from my face if I needed to I was ok. I did pull it away a few times during the night. But the bed itself was bothering me. He did raise the head a little but think it should have been up a little more. My back, knees and shoulders/neck bothered me a lot. I did a lot of tossing and turning and not a lot of sleeping. When I called him to let me go to bathroom at 4 I got lucky. he told me when I came back from bathroom that he had all the info he needed. That if I was awake and wanting to stop test I could.I was ready. More than ready. I got home before 5.At 5:10 Bill calls to see where I am at. I was suppose to wait but I wanted to get home.I waited for him at home. It was not a restful night but it should be much better when I am in my own bed. Plus at home I won't have all the wires and can sit up if I want etc. So I am very glad I did it but also glad it is over.
So if you need to get this test please do not hesitate. I have been as honest as I could be about how it was for me. You may have no problems at all. And if I made it sound scary don't be afraid. It is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits are well worth it. I have heard from many people that wear a c-pack now and they all say it has changed their lives for the good. I am very glad I did it.It sure made me appreciate my own bed emoticon
Ok That's it for me. I do see a good nap in my future this afternoon emoticon

My father in law wears a mask machine at night as he has sleep apnea. He said it makes a world of difference. However with my mother in law going through menopause and him with his machine they find it better to have their own rooms to sleep or they get no sleep.

About 2 years ago I went to the emerg with arrythmia when I woke up with it racing in the middle of the night and it took many hours and 2 diff meds to slow it down. I could have had a stroke! They were going to give me the paddles to shock it back to normal but it reset itself just in time, thank goodness. I had tests after that and the specialist said my EKG and ultrasound showed my heart was normal. He inferred the arrythmia was because I was older and overweight and these things happen. I asked if it was maybe sleep apnea since I snored and this incident happened at 3am. He just shrugged his shoulders. When I was in emerg 2 more times in the next few months I insisted my GP order a sleep clinic appt. Like you, even though it was uncomfortable there and I did not think I slept much, they diagnosed me with SEVERE obstructive sleep apnea, sometimes 60 episodes an hour. The arrythmia had been caused by me stopping breathing for so long that my heart stopped and then started breathing again with a gasp, throwing my heart out of rhythhm. So you see, sleep apnea can be very, very serious.

It took me a while to learn to tolerate the Cpap machine and mask (got the suffocating feeling and had to pull it off) but I stuck with it, because what is the alternative?? A yearlater I have it on every night, sleep like a baby all thru the night, no more tossing and turning or startling awake, no more up and down to the bathroom all night, much better mood and concentration and not tired and falling asleep thru the day, and no more trips to emerg. If you need a cpap machine there are various sites on the net to do your research so you will understand what the cpap provider is talking about. He should give you diff masks to try on. I went one more time to the sleep clinic using my own mask and they determined how much air pressure I needed to control the apnea incidents. Now I just keep using it and have another checkup next year. Hope things go well for you and your husband and if you need the cpap machine, please do use it!! Could save your life.

Remember to comparison shop for your CPAP when it comes time to buy. Prices can differ by as much as several hundred dollars, and not all insurances cover durable medical equipment. I bought mine online at secondwind .com, and am very happy with it. I don't like dealing with salespeople - ever, really - so online was the way to go for me. I got to see the price ranges and the features available before I made my choice. I bought the smallest unit I saw. It's portable, which is great for taking it along when traveling. I didn't buy a humidifier, and don't miss it.

Be sure you get a copy of your CPAP script to keep on file, so you can reorder supplies when needed. Even replacement masks need an Rx now (which is just silly, if you ask me.) Masks don't last forever.

I did not take the following pictures. They are Brianna's and this is beautiful Key West sunsets and blue water. I would love to go there.I went when I was 13 years old and that was a long time ago.

Ok Dear friends I have news. I will be watching So You Think You Can Dance later. Then Billy the Exterminator. He cracks me up.He doesn't mess with his momma tho as she will set him straight real quick. I am taping Top Chef and Psych.I do watch a variety of programs. emoticon

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
I wish you luck tonite with sleep test..If you ha ve it, I hope you won't have to sleep with the mask. I wear a night guard in my mouth because I grind my teeth, I don't even like to do that but if I don't, I end up with neck and shoulder pain. Anyhoo, pictures are beautiful, looks like Brianna had a nice time. I know what you mean about the diet, I'm even reducing the amount of calories I'm taking in, I'm trying to stay around 1400-1500 a day which is difficult to do and stay full, for me anyway. I'm losing inches though, so that's good but I know what you mean at night wanting to eat. I'm now grabbing for fruit when I want to munch. Fruit cup or piece of fruit. I watch America's Got Talent, Lie To Me, we watch Baggage which is pretty dumb and movies. When I get the TV to myself, I watch Top Chef, Adam Rich on food channel, How I Survived, and Chef Ramsay. Talk to you later,

Margaret emoticon

Ok. We have been on the same wavelength for almost a year. I recorded ALL the Billy the Exterminator episodes and have been watching it today as I worked in my room.

My diet is horrible. I started today with a 620 calorie breakfast of 2 dunkin' donuts and then it didn't matter what I did, it was going to be downhill.

Anyway, I'm sorry this is so hard. I completely understand everything. I'm really struggling, too. And I'm not sleeping either.

It makes such a difference to know we're not in this alone and you are definitely not in this alone.
