A Better Day

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Today has been much better. I was a little overwhelmed yesterday. Back to normal today. Or as normal as I can be.
I do have to be even more careful to not get cut for a few days as my blood is more like water.Had to adjust coumidan. It went too too thin partly as I wasn't eating as many greens the last 2 weeks. So we have to get it closer to where it should be. I had to get other blood work done and I made sure to let them know. That way she used a smaller needle for one thing.
After I got blood work done we went to lunch. I did good. But it was still a lot of calories but it was lunch and breakfast combined. Plus I brought home half of my turkey sandwich for an afternoon snack.
We had an all veggie supper and I had a big salad with my dressing on it. I made a new batch and it is alright but not quite tweaked enough. Lori has been a big help with some ideas on what to use.The biggest thing I have to decide on is which vinager to use. I may use a combo. I am going to make a sample one for cole slaw tomorrow. I don't like mayo so I am going to try my light miracle whip.
I have also been thinking of new things to try that will help with night time.I have a few things I am going to try. Bill picked me up some 5 cal jello at walmart earlier today. And I am going to play around making a type of smoothie. So I am going to change some things around. I will still make my huge pot of soup. And keep lots of fresh fruit on hand. I am down to one bag of soup so it is time to make more..
Surprising I slept better last night than I have in a long time. Tuesday night my knees kept me awake for hours.Even ended up in living room at 3am with ice packs as I couldn't stand the pain. But for some reason I had no knee or shoulder pain or hip pain and I got some uninterrupted sleep for longer than 1 hour.
Found out today that grandbaby #12 is going to be a boy. Benjamin told me he would like to name him after his brother who died at 11 years old if it was ok with me. Took me by surprise at first but told him what he named his child was up to him.I can always call him AJ.
Bill made a trip to walmart.(Without me--How dare him) He picked up 2 remotes. He has a TV in storage / work room but no remote.Plus he lost the extra one in living room. He spent about 20 minutes trying to get it to work and couldn't.So he agreed to play me a board game if I did it.
It took me about 1 minute to do it. Or less Yes I rubbed it in. He was not a good sport about it emoticonm. I kept the new one for living room and gave him the old one. There are two many buttons on new one for him to mess everything up. I got a dirty look when I told him that.
No mercy. emoticon
We have been getting a lot of rain and Bill's grass is looking good. We now have to find someone to cut it.Our regular guy has disappeared. Bill bought me another plant to replace my straw plant that died.
I should get my main computer back in a few days.He will save all my personal folders but all programs will have to be reinstalled. Here's hoping I can find them. Especially word and works. And hope I can do it without messing up. I will probably be pulling my hair out. I will update storing info on flash drives.
Ok i think I am caught up. Time to remind Bill to get out the card table so we can play a game emoticon
Thanks for all the kind and caring remarks. You guys are the best.

Congratulations on grandbaby #12...I'm anxiously awaiting Oct 1st for my first grandbaby...a little girl.

Jello, is so good and a great idea for a late night snack...Yum. I like it with a little sugar free cool whip.

Love salads too....We found an awesome dressing by Walden Farms, it's o calories, and zero fat. They have a few different flavors, but I like the bacon ranch...yum!

My Dad was on blood thinners as well before he died in 08', and he couldn't eat a lot of greens because of the vitamin K, a natural blood thinner.

Hope you and your family are doing well. Keep up the great progress,

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
Glad you're feeling much better, you had a quite a scare last weekend. I'm not much on the jello, it's ok but I like the sugar free puddings. Vanilla is my favorite. I made a pot of crab soup yesterday that turned out good. Can you post your recipe for your vegetable soup, is that the only kind you make? I love soup, not as much as in the wintertime except for the summer soups. I'm doing pretty good calorie wise this week, we'll see if I get a loss. Well, take care this weekend and you and Bill have a nice 4th.

Have you tried the jello, chocolate pudding? the one you cook, it is sugar free, fat free and with a dab of coolwhip deliciou, amazing!s. Even for a bedtime snack it is a winner.
So very glad you are feeling better. Isn't it amazing what medical science can do? Even tell what your o2 levels were while you were having your episode

Hi there...so happy you are feeling better! That smoothie sounds pretty good but the jello is processed..and full of crappy additives..yuck! emoticon

Try Very Blueberry Smoothie (makes 4 servings)
3 c water
2 c blueberries
1/2 c raw cashews (will fill you up so you will not be hungry)
1/2 pitted dates (a natural yummy sweetner)
1 vanilla bean ... or natural vanilla extract

In blender blend 2 c water with berries, nuts, dates and vanilla. Blend til smooth and add remaining water and blend. Will keep up to 3 days in fridge.

You can do mangos with 2 mangos cubed, 1/4 c almonds everything else the same as above.

You can do a carob (chocolate) Strawberry Bliss by adding 2 cups strawberries 1/4 c almonds, 1 t raw carob powder and 1/2 vanilla bean. Same other ingred.

You can do a Pina Colada with 2 c cut up pineapple, 1/2 c almonds, 2 T coconut oil and 1/2 vanilla bean. Same other ingred.

Pear Frosty 2 pears, seeded and quartered, 2 c water, 1 c ice...same ingred. as original recipe

Now we're talking HEALTHY...and you'd be amazed just those tiny amounts of the nuts will fill you up and satisfy you so you won't be craving more stuff.

Try these little gems to get started...and I've got MORE up my sleeve if you want them...I've got peaches, fuzzy navels, even an almond nog...

LOVE ya to the moon and back!

Let me know how the smoothie with jello turns out. I love smooties.
I had to laugh abot the remotes. Generally, I am not very good with electronic, but my husband, Mike never learned to program a VCR and does not program our U-Verse to 'tape' a program. Our daughter and son-in-law bought us a clock with family pictures in it. When we had to change the time to daylight savings time, he was unable to fix it. One day, I started messing with it and was able to get the time changed. He was very surprised. LOL

Ace makes smoothies, and I tried one the other day. It was a banana, milk, berries, Splenda, and ice cubes, and I thought it was a lot like a milkshake. I think they're for people who need a little dessert once in a while.

On the other hand, Adrienne used to eat dessert for lunch in restaurants some of the time while we were eating two meals a day out.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good day.

I love smoothies!! I buy the frozen veggie mix from Sam's Club and add milk and ice. It's a sweet treat and filling too.

Just the thought of jell-o makes me cringe. I do like the new jell-o mousse temptations for 60 calories.

Jason struggles programming those darn remotes. I read the directions. emoticon

Not sure where to begin. It has been a little over whelming in a way.
First off-- They can fix my computer and save my personal files. Any programs will be lost including my Norton. They swear there is a free microsoft program that works better.I like my Norton and it has always worked great. But I will try the one they put on it. I have a feeling it will be a headache still when I get it back.
Next-- I saw my heart doc today and told him of the incident over the weekend. He was not happy with me that I had not called anyone. To make a long story short he checked my ICD and it did discharge and I was in full fibrillation. Without the device i would have died. He said the same thing the doc said that put my first one in 6 years ago.One time and it more than pays for itself. It saved my life. It also showed my O2 has been going low at night.I will be doing a 24 hour test of my O2 at home.I may need to use O2 at night. It also showed several days of excessive fluid in my body.
We talked about different things and ofcourse losing weight is so important.
I really and not in a mood to chat and I do still have a lot of emails to catch up on.
So I will just say good night for now. emoticon emoticon

My Not So Good Luck Seems To Have Followed Me Home

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

My bad luck has followed me home. I tried for probably 3 hours or more to upload the Vblog I made at hotel. It says file is too large. So I was trying to make it shorter which is a thing I didn't know how to do. I managed to make it a little shorter but it still wouldn't work. I had planned to try again today. But now I don't have my main computer. emoticon emoticon emoticon
I have the blue screen. We had a couple of power surges last night. Bill took it in a few minutes ago. I knew the fan needed to be replaced again. They are doing that for free as they just replaced it a few months ago. I have a few things backed up on flash drives but so much will be lost it makes my head spin. I will have to replace some phone numbers and addresses. I am hoping he can save it.
I had around 30 emails that I hadn't had time to get to that will not show up on here. So if you don't get a response on any of your blogs it is because i lost it. I can keep up with this little Acer but not past emails.
So I will be able to use my little Acer.
In addition to weekend and computer. I have had more family drama.I received a call from Angel Sat morning telling me her sister Joy was ok but was in hospital. Just great. So now I am not near home and I get to worry about both girls.Angel isn't feeling well and she is trying to make sure her sister is ok. Angel knows that I hate it when they keep secrets. But I told Angel unless it was life threatening to wait to tell me if I am out of town. That there is nothing I can do but worry. On the bright side. Angel said Joy was looking much healthier than she had in a long time.Joy was released yesterday.I just got text from her that she is calling me in a few minutes.
Angel got good news about mass they saw and it is just another cyst that is not cancerous. So that was a big relief.
So it has just been one thing after another. My eating is horrendous. I am not handling all the added stress well. In addition I also had episode with my heart during the night over the weekend and we think my defibillator.went off.Not a pleasant feeling. I see heart doc tomorrow and he can check it on the Medtronic machine. It isn't all bad as if it did go off that means it is doing what it is suppose to do.
Well I am going to try to catch up on some of my spark stuff. Bill is off all week so that is a plus. Trying to breathe deep and stay calm. Absolutely have to get control of the eating.
Ok Hope you guys are doing better than I am. But as I said I do have my sweetie home all week. That is a big plus for me. emoticon

Oh my...I feel like I wish I could just come and visit you and make you a big pot of fresh veggie soup! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon It is SO important to eat right when you are undergoing stress. You really, really need those good nutrients to pump up your immune system. Have you tried the greek yogurts that are so popular right now. I swear they are the PERFECT healthy treat. They have flavored ones too...Chiobani is the best one. When I get a sweet tooth attack I just grab one from the fridge and slice up a small banana, or some fresh berries...and whoop da...sweet tooth taken care of in a healthful way! They are uber creamy and delish! They have twice the protein as normal yogurt and they are chock full of probiotics that help you digest your food better. No I'm not a spokesperson...but...

try them you will likey!

Hugs, hugs and MORE hugs...remember you have to take care of you....if those girls seem to be having tough spots now..they will crumble if something happens to their dear beautiful momma...so the momma in me...is telling you to take CARE of the momma in you! emoticon emoticon emoticon Have a beautiful 4th and eat healthy okay...okay?

When it rains it pours eh? Well to get back on track with your eating make sure you have lots of fresh fruits and veggies on hand. These will make you feel better and not so sluggish so you can get back on track.

That is some pretty scary stuff you have been going through with the girls and your heart. Take it easy girl. Breathe deep and know that you were able to make the video smaller so when you get time I am sure you will make it even smaller later.

Take sometime to not beat yourself up for your eating habits this past few days. It is in the past! emoticon

You have alot going on right now! Worrying about the kids is so stressful. I'm glad to hear that they're both doing better. Make sure to take care of yourself too.

The blue screen of death is awful! Hopefully they can fix it without losing everything. I used to use Outlook for my e-mails but stopped when my computer crashed a few times and I lost everything. I use my sbcglobal address. If my computer crashes I don't lose my e-mails. I can also check it from any computer. I'm horrible about backing up my computer too.

I hope all goes well tomorrow at the heart doc. I had an OB check today. The baby's heartbeat is strong and steady. The little bugger is moving so much now. Of course it loves to be active when I'm trying to sleep. I go for an ultrasound on July 15th and another OB check. I go every 2 weeks now.

My long weekend Part 1

Monday, June 28, 2010

Friday Afternoon
We made it here with no problem. Then the aggravation began. After talking to 2 people in the last 2 days Bill was told they had no handicap room. He was not a happy camper. I was waiting outside in car. So when he became very unhappy we were upgraded to a suite for same price. It was like a marathon to get to room but room is real nice.It has the walkin shower and large bathroom. It also has a whirl pool tub in bedroom. Big sitting area with refrigerator, microwave.Nice desk with office chair. BUT It is suppose to be wireless in room. When I couldnít get a connection. I find out I have to pay $10 for 24 hours which I donít care about. Only I canít get connected yet. She gave me a number to call and no human is there.I had to leave a message. So I am venting now and will copy and paste.
Sunday Afternoon
By now you know I was not able to get internet service. I have stayed busy watching TV and reading. The TV has the worst selection of stations of any place I have ever stayed. And it got even worse a few minutes ago. It has lost satellite signal so we only have 4 stations now. It is raining now so I guess that is what has happened.
I did make a vblog this morning in the room. I wanted to try out the new camera. It works much better than the old camera. I did my usual rambling. It shows my big fat arm which I didnít like and when I turned my head my hair was sticking out all over the place. Altho the hair was a mess in back I couldnít help but laugh at myself. I do need to learn to look right into camera.
Oh TV stations are back.I had just started watching Monsters Inc. It is kinda cute.but I have missed parts of it.
Bill just called and he is on way home. He is getting us subs for supper. I really do not want to get on scales when I get home.Eating has been the worst ever. Have eaten stuff I donít normally eat and eaten too much.
I will get serious once I get home. And I will be so glad to get home. It is so far to get to the car from here that I have not left the room. Not worth the effort. Bill is off all week so I will get the chance to get out and about after we get home.
The TV stations have been going off and on for a few hours but seem to be staying on. If we ever come here I will never stay here again. I called to front desk last night to make sure they had us down to stay tonight. She assured me everything was ok.Guess what. They called today to see if we were staying one more night. No one must talk to others and never put info in their computers. I even had a do not disturb card on door and house keeping still banged on door. I am telling you this place is like none I have ever stayed at.
We did have a nice surprise when we checked out. We were only charged $65 a day for the room so even when they added on taxes for everything the room was very cheap. The room itself as I said was very nice.
Monday
I just got home.I will post this and a vblog I made.Either tomorrow or later tonight I will post a few pictures I took in room and thru window. I am so glad to be home.

Wowsa...your blog reminds me EXACTLY why I hate hotels. First of all I am a super GERM PHOB..and the mere thought of that makes me and DH too...heehee...buggy! I spray down EVERYTHING with my handy dandy Lysol. Then I freak myself out about the safety of the place...if you saw some of the shenangians I go to...you'd laugh yourself silly. If we ever travel for my jewelry shows...I'll insist on an R.V. where I can be comfortable...although not really sure about how safe those things are either...I don't know when I got so freaky about these things...must have been once I started working in the bank and got personal safety drilled in my head 25/7. The germ stuff had to have started after watching too many Dateline specials...all in all...traveling for me is just not as much fun anymore...maybe I'm just getting old and cranky...NOOOOOOO....that can't be it! emoticon

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
Sorry you didn't have a good time when you went away but at least you finally got the room you put in for. I have experienced the hotel saying they had wireless but then it not working and of course they don't know why. My eating hasn't been that great either this past week but I only gained a half pound. I've not been eating enough veggies and fruits. I think that may be throwing me off so I'm back on stricter this week. I hope your health issues are minor and things will slow down for you stress wise. Take care this week! I know you're glad your sweetie is off this week. bye for now,

Glad you're home. I hate traveling. I can imagine how upset Bill was when the room wasn't what you both had checked and double checked about.
What a pain....but you probably lost weight eating Subway.
Anyway...Glad you're home sweet home!!!!

I was a little worried about you getting the correct room after you called to confirm and it wasn't correct. How frustrating, even though you got an upgraded room, you shouldn't have had to go through all that. I hope you talked to a manager to let them know their service was horrible.

Oh, I can't wait to see your video blog. You haven't done one in a long time.

I'm glad you and Bill made it home safely. I know being away is tiring, so try to get some rest.

I wondered about the internet connection as I figured if you had one, you would have posted.

So glad they upgraded your room at no extra charge - good for them and equally good for you.

I will look for the photos.

WELCOME HOME, Eleni & Bill

I did good yesterday.Even ended up at 1450 on calories which is good. I will be over today but maybe not by much.
An getting stuff gathered up for weekend trip that starts tomorrow. We will leave here around noon and get lunch and then head to Lakeland which isn't that far away. lakeland is just on other side of Tampa. Depending on traffic we should get here in about an hour or so.
The reservations are suppose to be straightened out. At least the lady said so this morning. I made them back in April so I would be sure to get what I wanted. When I called last night it was all messed up and then gal said the bathroom did not have a walkin shower nor did they have any tub chairs. I told her I couldn't stay somewhere that I couldn't even take a shower for 3 days. She told me to call back this morning. The woman this morning assured me I was down for a handicap room and bathrooms were handicap ready. And all rooms have refrigerators. So I am hoping for the best. I will be in room most of the time. I am taking my Acer laptop and my dvd player. Will take my exercise tapes. And some reading material. It will be like normal for me except for eating out so much which is never good for me. We are going to get some things at grocery store for room but will still eat out or use room service.
I am getting aggravated at program for downloading my pics from new camera. It is the same as I have had only this wants to put it in two places and I have to figure out how to get it to just go to folder I pick.I know it has to be something simple.Just haven't figured it out yet.Hope to find something new on our trip to take photos of.
Here are a couple I took today. Couldn't get lens cap off fast enough to get a good shot. But here is the best I could do today.

Well I need to get some stuff done tonight as we all know I am not a morning person. I will have my laptop so I will stay in touch. It will probably be a boring weekend for me but as long as I have a TV and computer I will entertain myself. I am only going so I can spend a little time with Bill.I would be much more comfortable at home.

I hope all your travel plans went smoothly after the phone call. I am thinking that you can't get online because you are supposed to be either spending time with Bill or relaxing. You probably need a break from us. Love ya Eleni emoticon

Almost forgot. Great job on staying within your range and exercising. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I hope Bill does good bowling. Most people take it much more seriously than I do! But, of course, most people are better bowlers than I am. emoticon
Hope your room is okay. Try your best with the eating but don't beat youself up over it. emoticon

You are such a GOOD wife...you put yourself out so that you can enjoy time with your sweetie pie. I think that is so commendable and a sign of true love thats for sure! I'm glad you will have your laptop...more time with us hee hee! Take care and relax...if you like thriller books check out the hot new series by Stieg Larsson. His first of the series is "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" I'm reading his second one..hey I'm thinking I might remember you have already read these...so maybe I'm just blabbing along for no good reason...but if you haven't ...DO...they are pretty awesome! I'll be thinking of you and sending up positive vibes that you get a great room and have an awesome trip! Hugs, hugs, and MORE hugs! emoticon

Have a great trip. Take lots of pictures! As for eating out. Try to make a list in the car of how to lower the calories on a meal you just know you are going to order. Pay attention to supper meals and evening snack calories as those ones really can add up. And maybe you can take a tour around the hotel just for some added exercise! emoticon

WOW, you had a great calorie day yesterday. Good for you. It will be a challenge this weekend but as long as you don't crazy it will be OK. I look at is a mini vacation, and it's OK to be a little bit bad.

I had a terrible day yesterday, but good day today for calorie count. I think today made up for yesterday. Weighing in once per week, and getting thrown out of KOPS if you are out two weeks, keeps me fairly attentive to what I eat. Weigh-in day is even better. It keeps the week in check.

I hope you have a good time on your trip. Bill will make it OK, I hope.
