Dark and Gloomy Day

Friday, June 04, 2010

This morning matches my mood lately.Dark and gloomy. I am still not feeling normal. Yesterday was not so good but I am better than I was. On the bright side I am sleeping a little better. Partly due to Bill not snoring as bad since he raised his side of the bed.
My eating is still all over the place. Good on some days and atrocious on some. But I still have tracked my calories no matter what. Not sure why.Habit I guess. It is real easy to know when I eat too much.
I am trying to get my motivation back and get on track for more than a day here and there. I did it before so I know I can do it. I just have to do it. Easier said than done. I find myself getting more frustrated lately and I know it is because of the way I have been feeling. I never feel great so it does throw me when it gets worse. I know my blogs have been real bummers and I am sorry for that. But as I have said before. What you see is what you get. I am not good at pretending and I have been in a very sour mood for several days. I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to read my blogs. I am trying to get more positive but it isn't easy.
But I will have Bill around for the next three days and he always makes me feel better.
So I am working on getting my mojo going again. Thanks for all your support. I know many of you struggle as I do every day. We can do this and we will do this. We just can't give up. I can't give up and I won't. Just in a slump.

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
Glad you are feeling better, I was alittle blah today, somewhat tired and achy. My husband and I took my special son, Ryan out for the day. We bought lunch and took it to a park and had a picnic. After that, we did alittle grocery shopping and then dropped off Ryan with his dad for any overnight. We're back home and husband is taking a nap. Weather was gloomy all day until now; the sun is shining. I am going to post pics of my garden and flowers too. I have a small garden and then a friend of ours put vegetables in our backyard. Very soon, we will have lots of tomatoes, squash, corn etc. which will be nice. Yesterday, I visited my mother-in-law and took pictures of her very cute dog Bailey which I will try to post now. Here's to a good weekend!

Sometimes it's just hard to stay positive. Be sure and collect things that make you laugh and smile! I listen to an audio book of The Secret when I walk, and watch the DVD on days when work has been worse than normal. And of course, when I'm in a bitchy mood, my son makes me watch The Three Stooges!

You are a strong woman, so inspirational, kind and full of helpful advice! Anything I can do to help you out, let me know!

We are here for you, as you were the first contact with sparks that I had and you were so motivational and had so many hints for me. Wish I could capture your night deamon for you. The pills that you were on for a short time do effect your sleep so maybe you will catch up now and the gloomies well we all get them at times but thank goodness it doesn't last too long. Hope you find your mojo soon, maybe it is in the garden.

Love your just says it all. We all have our bad days and I am glad that you ARE making your blogs. Bad days or not I do enjoy reading what you have to say. How else are we to get things off our mind and express how we feel if we don't say it. We are here for you through "thick and thin" (no pun intended) Take things a little at a time and you are doing great with continuing your tracking. Make sure you get some rest when you need. We are in this together and we will make it one step at a time in this journey. Chin up and we will look for a better day tomorrow. emoticon

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
I have been reading your blogs since I started several months ago on here, your videos have been very valuable to me as are your blogs. I don't think you have to worry about uninspiring people on here because as you said, we have our trials and tribulations with this too. I think I'm eating healthy and staying within my calorie range and either I gain a few pounds, stay the same or lose a couple pounds. I've lost 9 pounds so far but am not achieving new losses even though I exercise more than I ever have. I'm like you, I won't give up, I will still track what I eat and keep getting on. As for your moods, they are what they are, if you can't be who you are then who can you be? Maybe your moods could also be serving as a signal that a change in your thinking is coming. Journaling your thoughts like you're doing is therapeutic so keep doing what you're doing. Take care,

Changing your lifestyle is hard. I see people like Audra and Marilyn who lose a 100 lbs and then get stuck. But at least they lost the 100 lbs. Then there is me who seems to gain and lose the same weight over and over ad infinitum. One thing I know is I can't give up. And from being in the nest with you, I know you won't quit either. emoticon

Very happy to say I am feeling better today. I slept much better last night too so that helped. If I can just keep Bill's snoring limited it will be nice.
He is using the treadmill I got him for fathers day.In fact he is on it now. He only has a little weight to lose and he will do it easily. Wish I could do so good.
I have stopped taking the weight loss pill after only 1 week. It could have been part of my problem the past week. I don't think it was doing much anyway.
It looks like the fluid is coming back again but hopefully it won't be as bad.
Bill has been such a sweetheart the past few days.Worked all day and then came home and did all the stuff I usually try to do. At least today I was able to do most of what little I do.
He even brought me home flowers yesterday to make me smile.I told him that him coming thru the door was all I needed to make me smile. Which is true as I always feel better when he is around. He is so good to me and I do appreciate all he does.
My weight was up today and that is always a downer.Hopefully it is just the fluid. I am so tired of being stuck. Hopefully as I feel better I can get back to exercising.
The caterpillars completely stripped the plant they have been on. I had Bill cut it way back tonight as a spark friend suggested and will see if plant comes back.I may have to just replace it. Bill brought in about 6 tomatoes tonight. He said there are about a dozen more on plant and that will be it. We didn't get as many as we expected but way more than we have before. The topsy turvy didn't do well.It started out strong but then started dying.Only got about 4 small tomatoes off it. We just are not good farmers for sure.
Ok Nothing much new going on. Hope you are all doing ok.

Glad that you are feeling better and that you are getting better sleep. For the past weekend I didn't get much sleep either. Between babysitting the little ones, getting the flu, and having to get "cleaned out" for tests sure made sleeping not happening! I'm sure that this weekend will be better.
My daughter in law brought me cut flowers this past weekend cause she knew that I had a rough time. They were multicolored lilies.
Sounds like you sure have a "keeper". Seems to me that the older my husband gets, the better he becomes at relating and helping with things.
Sorry about your plant pests and your tomato plant. I was going to get one of those, but now I think I'll hold off. I think you are not doing anything wrong with your plants, you just have those pesky obstacles in your way. emoticon

Glad to hear you are feeling better. A good nights sleep can do wonders.
I wondered about those pills. Glad you are off them...hope the fluids stay away. Ted has been having that problem for about a week or so.
Give Bill a big hug and tell him that is because we appreciate him taking such good care of you! We are really lucky to have such good guys, When I told someone that Ted and I had been married 56 years, he said he didn't know if he ever knew anyone who had been together that long!
Your flowers are beautiful. I love cut flowers, am just sorry they don't last very long.
Take care my friend!

Hi, Eleni - Those weightloss pills made me hyper and it was hard to sleep well when I was taking them, but I'm sensitive to drugs.

As for your garden pest problem, get some beneficial nematodes. They're little microscopic insects that attack and kill other insects. I have birds and butterflies in my yard (and lizards!), but no fleas, ticks, cut worms, caterpillars, etc. Great for my dogs, and the squirrels, too.

I'm glad to hear you're doing better. Maybe it was the weight loss pill????

I almost bought the TopsyTurvy last week but I asked my co-worker about it first. He used to be a landscaper and loves that kind of stuff. He's my go to guy for plant/flower/lawn info. He told me not to waste my money on the TopsyTurvy. I think it will be many years before I plant a garden.

Bill is so good. We're so lucky to have great husband's. I heard they're hard to find...

I go to the doctor again tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm getting an ultrasound or not. If I am, I hope the little bugger cooperates so we find out the sex. I'll let you know.

I hope you get some sleep tonight. When Bill snores, squeeze his nostrils, he'll stop. I've done that to Jason before. Usually I just knee him.

Ace was interested in a topsy turvey, but decided it was too much trouble. We also have had poor luck with Home Depot tomato plants, to the point that this year she just planted some "wildflowers" that resulted in a bunch of Zinnias of varied colors. I told her that she needs to plant Marigolds. They always seem to kill off all the pests and thrive on their own.

Not much going on but wanted to check in anyway.
Will be glad when i get back to my normal days. I did have enough tomatoes from Bill's plant to make 1 1/2 quarts of tomato sauce that I will use in cooking this week.

If Bill only has one plant he must be a city farmer. Usually two or three plants will give you more tomatoes than you want for fresh use, and a few more can make you can them all summer long. I overate today - nearly 2400 calories and no walking. My pedometer says11,159 steps and it says that's 5.27 miles, but I really just went to a Kiwanis meeting and then did a bunch of chores around the house.
The day started off poorly when I cracked and had biscuit and gravy for breakfast (lots of calories, salt, fat, and mostly saturated fat). Later on it went downhill from there because I found out that Walmart has Slim-a-Bears for the same price as Publix on sale, and a dollar less a box than Publix and Sweetbay when not on sale. I bought two boxes, and ate four ice cream bars (another extra 680 calories). If I hadn't bought them I might have made it through the day at least even.
Hope your day went better.

Memorial Day

Monday, May 31, 2010

I hope everyone has had a nice long weekend with friends and family.
I am still having a problem with tiredness and dizziness. It is better today but still bothering me. Yesterday I did nothing but either lay in bed or sit in recliner. I never even got on the computer all day. I think that is first time for that. Have been trying to catch up with my email off and on today.
We did go to the Lucky Dill for lunch. I can't get enough to drink now as I got the kraut and sausage. It would have been better if I had just gotten a hotdog. I only ate one sausage and half the kraut. I will freeze the sausage but may just throw away the kraut.I am not sure it will freeze. Bill and I both had a big pile of broccoli on our plates. It was very tasteless. But I will add it to my daily soup. I have some of grilled veggies from last night left over for my soup too.
We watched the movie 2012 this afternoon.A lot of special effects. But it was ok.
I thought it was funny when I was looking thru the TV channels and the soups were reruns. That was different.
My large orchid has it's first blooms today. I don't know what I did to get such a large plant but it is my best one.Last time it bloomed I had about 8 limbs of flowers. The limb are just starting to grow and so far I only see these two

I am having problems with one of my butterfly plants. The butterflies like it too much. They keep laying eggs and caterpillars keep growing and they are eating the plant to death. Bill took about 10 off a couple of days ago and I can see 3 more chomping away thru the window.
Soon the plant will be nothing but a few thin limbs.
Well I am going to go get a drink. Hope you have a good evening.
OH Bill is using the treadmill he picked up Sat. It is just too hot for him to try to walk and he likes walking.
I had him raise his side of the bed last night and he didn't snore all night.Thank goodnes as he has been keeping me awake for days.

But I survived and all was ok. I wonder how much I have lost? We will see on my next weigh in. I don't feel like my weight has changed any at this point.
