Unproductive Day

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

It has been an unproductive day unless you count time spent in bed sleeping. It has been one of those days. I am feeling much better right now.Good thing as I still have to do at least 10 minutes of some kind of exercise. Bill brought home rotisserie chicken which is too good. I did weigh my meat and added an extra 100 for some skin I ate. I am still doing good on my night eating. I did have a salmon sandwich late at night but I was still under my calories. I did not get to bed early.
Have caught up on sleep today. But I needed the extra rest. I probably have been doing just a little too much for me.
Two of my first cyber daughters found me today on Facebook. I meet these two young women many years ago when I was on a message board on the 3FC web site. I don't spend a lot of time of Facebook but it is expanding on me. I do have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren on there. And now 3 cyber daughters. Robin is my Spark cyber daughter here. I was telling my daughter Angel today that i have one blood grandchild on the way and one cyber grandbaby coming. I am always amazed when I hear someone say the internet is impersonal. I am closer to some of my cyber friends than a few of my blood family members .
I do have to tell you that my daughter Angel now reads my blogs and she has commented several times how nice all of you and how great you are in supporting and encouraging me. You guys are the best.
Bill got some more stones put down.It is going to look nice when he finishes. He has to get about 10 more bags.
And speaking of Bill. Here is what he brought home since he knew I was having a bad day.

Not much going on. I am feeling better and I need to set up the dvd's to tape. And do 10 minutes of exercise
Hope you all have a nice evening

    OH!..what beautiful flowers! What a sweetie...he's a keeper alright!!
On monday I took a 5 hr nap due to working the night before and it sure did wipe me out. I did manage to get an hour hike after tho. Some days you just are wiped!! I am on facebook too, but I find I don't like it very much...I'd rather be here with my sparkfriends emoticonYou are all on my mind. Especially when I take my hikes...Like you are all with me, helping me plug through the path.
Hope you have a restful night... emoticon

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. It's OK that you haven't gotten much done today. It's important to take care of yourself.

I'm getting my ultrasound in just over 3 weeks and you'll be one of the 1st people I tell. I think it's a boy but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Once all the rocks are down and you have the plants in place you'll need to do a video. I can't wait to see it finished.

Take it easy tonight and hopefully you can get to bed somewhat early.

I didn't get up til almost 11 today.Been behind all day. By the time I got the cobwebs out it was after 12.I wasn't feeling like exercising but I did get about 30 minutes done. Then I went out on deck for just a few minutes.Too hot to stay out long. I didn't eat lunch til 2 pm. I did get a few things done around the house.
The plants I ordered that I forgot about came today. There was a coneflower and some primroses. Then a bag of coneflower roots. We filled a couple of pots extra last night so it just took a few minutes and then are taken care of.Bill also brought the rose bush from out front that he got that was dying in small pot it came in and got it in a good pot.
Bill got a start on the stones we are putting around pool where we have some veggies and my butterfly garden. It is going to look nice once it is done. Will take a lot of stone.

Ok I did well with night eating and did not go over my range. The locked tool box saved my big time. My food demon started whispering to me that some buttered club crackers would sure taste good. Then he said the stove top dressing would be real good. But it was 11 pm.Bill was a sleep and said named temptations were locked up.Score big for box. Probably saved me hundreds of calories.
Altho Bill had fridge on it wasn't ready to use and I ended up snatching 2 slices of cheese. Won't happen tonight as I put the cheese and the olives I am constantly grabbing when I open fridge in the locked fridge. Well it is now locked as I just sent Bill in there to lock it. Extreme.Ofcourse it is. But if it works I really don't care how crazy anyone thinks I am. My kids already think I am nuts. emoticon
Ok here are some pics
This first one is my one tomato plant.( Bill has the big planter )First you will see a bunch that was on when I got it.But they were tiny. Then you will see some tiny ones that came from blossoms. Next is my first squash bloom. Then Bills potted plant he bought. And then the first section of stone he is putting down. Now to see If I upload these in right order

Ok Time to watch DWTS and then Castle later.Taping Little People and Saving Grace. Yes I do enjoy TV.
Hope you all had a good day.

Those tomatoes are looking good though..and I like green fried tomatoes, they taste good!!

That's okay, my family thinks I'm crazy too.

I LOVE olives, green & black. I put them in my salad all the time. I can eat them right out of a can/jar. MMMMMMMMM.

I like the stone that Bill is putting around the pool. It's going to look sharp when it's done. Speaking of the pool, sounded like today would've been a good day to take a dip.

I hope you have another good evening with calories.

We finally got the plants repotted in the back. There are 3 in front that still need to be done. There is a reason I make a point to tell Bill several times a day how much I love and appreciate him. He does so much for me. He hates repotting but helps me anyway.
Plus he did so much running around today. He went in search of a box we can lock and brought home a big thing from Michaels which was way too big. Then he came up with a good idea that neither of us thought of.A tool box. So off he went again to return the one and find a tool box the right size. He had to go to about 4 places but found the perfect tool box. It already has the stuff in it and is locked up. It has all the club crackers and 2 boxes of stove top dressing. Both things I tend to binge on late at night. I can have either one if I want them but I have to ask ahead of time so he can unlock the box. I know it sounds extreme but if it works I don't care.
He also has the fridge on and getting cool. It is much bigger than I had in mind but we can keep extra water etc in it. There are only a few things I will put in there.Bill's Velveeta cheese and any other cheeses he gets plus any deli ham he gets. I was getting into a bad habit of grabbing 2 or 3 slices of cheese late at night. If I don't see it and I know I can't get to it.So much better for me. Again I can have anything but have to think about it first. So I am very happy with my box and extra fridge.
I am still doing good with my night eating and my exercises.
I didn't sit in the sun today but we were outside on back patio for about an hour .So I did get out of the house. My squash plant is starting to get some blooms on it and my tomato plant has 3 new little tomatoes. I planted some okra seeds today too. So it has been a busy day. I had to take a short nap around 4.
Then I fixed two cookies sheets of fresh veggies in the oven. Cauliflower, brocolli, yellow squash, carrots, asparagus,.I boiled Bill some potatoes and I had 1/2 cup of them. I have plenty of veggies to add to my soup during the week.
And my treat for the week was a small bag of pork rinds that I planned for. It was a 200 cal snack. Yes I know you shouldn't reward yourself with food but I do on occasion.
OK need to clean up kitchen. Not much on til 9 altho I am watching a Gene Simmons I missed. I have never been a KISS fan but I do like his show. It is good for a laugh.
well I hope you all had a good weekend. and you have a wonderful week coming up.

Hey my dear friend...now after reading your blog...I just have to giggle...only you would come up with a 'lock box'...it's really a pretty good idea...but I'm thinking...why have the stuff in the house in the first place...don't smack me...just an observation.

If you stock up on fruits I bet you'd be perfectly satisfied with them as a late night snacker in no time.

Here's a GREAT dessert that won't break the calorie budget and it's so quick and easy it's silly. Tasty too!

1 box Angel Food Cake Mix
1 large can crushed pineapple

Open cake mix, pour into a 9x12 baking dish. Add the crushed pineapple, juice and all. Stir and bake at 350 for about 30-40 minutes.

THATS IT! So tasty and sweet but not sickly sweet. Add some cool whip and you will think you have died and went to heaven.

Now the only thing is...it is a processed food...so in that respect it's NOT great for you...I add a little yogurt on the top of mine instead of cool whip...but it's not as bad as a lot of other things you might be tempted by...so thought I'd tell you about it!

Hugs...and keep being a good girl...we all love you too much to have you making BAD food choices when you can eat just as much or MORE of the GOOD stuff!

xoxoxo

What a busy day! I sat outside this weekend and actually got sunburned. My chest and my right side got burned but it doesn't hurt.

If you have to lock up the food and it works out, that's great! You're right, do what you have to do. I reward myself with food as well. Moderation is the key.

I love it that you watch Gene Simmons. I've only watched it a few times but I think it's great!!!

I might as well get this done now. I haven't got much done today but play with computer and camera. Poor Bill is the busy one. He fixed the earth box tomatoes and tied them up.They are growing by leaps and bounds. We are very optimistic that we will finally grow tomato's.
He also brought home several bags of stones to put in our little veggie and butterfly garden. He will have to get more.He also got more potting soil for our repotting and some more plants to replace crotons that he thinks are dead but really aren't.The repotting has been pushed to tomorrow. He is way too tired to mess with it today
He has now gone to get a small refrigerator. He checked them out at Home Depot earlier today. Don't laugh but we are going to lock this one up so I can't get in it unless I ask him. He will keep stuff he likes that I don't need to get into. Like his ham and cheese and potato salad. Also his puddings etc. We can also keep some water and drinks in there plus veggie overflow.
If I have to ask for the cheese etc it will give me time to decide whether I really want it. I got into his potato salad and some cheddar cheese because it was right there. I only got a little but I didn't need it nor really want it that bad. We joked about locking cabinets not too long ago. I may get a box that we can lock up my club crackers so I don't get into them late at night. Hey Whatever it takes no matter how wild it sounds I will do it. I can have anything that is locked up but I will have to plan for it and not be able to mindlessly get into it. I think I told you before I am always coming up with strange ideas. Bill just laughs and shakes his head. Then tries to do what ever my crazy idea is.
I was able to get some great pictures today sitting right here at computer. As some of you know I had the most exciting thing happen.I had 2 hummingbirds come to my butterfly garden. I was so excited I only got a blurry picture. If I hadn't laid camera down to call Bill to tell him to not come to back I would have gotten more shots. But if they came once I am hoping they will come again. First ones I have seen since I was 12 years old and at my grandmothers.I am now 64. It was just super awesome. Also had a beautiful monarch butterfly come.First large one this year. The one yesterday was smaller . Bill started in again bout me getting a new camera when I didn't get the bird. But I can not justify doing that when I get the pictures I do thru a tinted window.
I posted all the butterflies on facebook and flickr but here are a few.

Here is the blurry hummingbird. He is the blur in the middle
And here is the first bloom of the tall orchid I have been showing you. Bill was my hand model

Ok enough with the pictures
I did have a loss today and was pleased with that. I am doing better with night eating. Much better control of what I eat.
My only bad time was when I woke up at 3am and could not go back to sleep. That is where some potato salad and cheddar cheese came in. But it was only a little.
Got al my exercises done. My favorite RS tape got caught and almost broke. I use it every day. It is only 13 minutes that I do but it is a good one for me. It is a hard one to find but I found one on Amazon and ordered it in case this one breaks.
Ok I guess that is most of my news. Hope you are having a good weekend. I am so far that is for sure.
I even sat in sunshine and read for awhile. Gotta go I hear my sweetie driving up.

Great pictures...keep them coming! The hummingbirds are the only wild critters that I can feed. I can't feed the birds anymore because the bears get in the bird seed.
Your hummingbirds will definitely come back. One year I didn't have my hummingbird feeder out yet for the year and a hummingbird came to each of my windows looking in hovering. Strange thing was these windows that he was looking in for me is not any windows that I use to set my feeder at. It was like he was saying "Hey...get off your duff and get my feeder out!!" "I'm not leaving until you do!" I did and he was happy...in fact he is so protective of it when I change the feeder he dives at me to not take it away! So cute!!
Love your orchids!! They are doing so well! And you got such a nice model to help you out...seems like a keeper to me... emoticon

Certainly not laughing (he, he!!) but I think its a GREAT idea to have a separate fridge - it lessens the temptation if you don't see the foods each ime you have to go to the fridge. Wonderful.
The pictures are lovely - that hummingbird is just the smallest thing - so delecate!! (we don't have them here so I've never seen one!!) and the orchid is perfect - someone has green thumbs to grow them like that - and all the buds waiting too!! You look like there will be a real show!!

Hehe! I love that idea. Gotta keep thinking of ways to keep us in check. Whatever it takes. I've been straying off track lately and need to reign myself in. Haven't been spending much time sparking.
Hope your hummingbirds come back. I bought a hummingbird feeder a couple of years ago and put it in my backyard. Within a couple of hours 2 hummingbirds came by and checked it out. I was so excited, but they never came back.
Glad you're losing. Keep up the good work.

I don't think that's silly at all about the refrigerator, I think it's a great idea, and if it works for you, it's worth doing.

Beautiful pictures! I know how hard it is to try to capture those hummingbirds with a camera; I've tried with mine and have not even come close. But I keep trying, maybe I'll be lucky one day. That's the nice thing about digital cameras, you take as many pics as you need without having to pay for the film.

For once we went to grocery store and bill was not huge. But we are well stocked up on a lot of things. But I alway have a fridge full of fruits and veggies. In fact we are trying to decide whether we want to get an extra small fridge. Bill is going to look around tomorrow.
I did good with my calories last night. I am in great shape now so I am optimistic for tonight.
I got all my exercises done before we went to grocery store.
Tomorrow night is my night for grilling veggies and I am going to try an acorn squash. Tonight was every man for himself so I had oysters.Just sautéed them in a pan and had a low cal veggies egg roll with it and sliced tomatoes.
Tomorrow is weigh in day and wouldn't you just guess the scale went up today.Has to be fluid. I hope it is gone by morning as I had more good days than bad.
Tomorrow afternoon is plant day. Bill has to pick up some more potting soil in the morning.
That's about it for now.The tall orchid has one little bloom on it.Will take a pic when more bloom. Today was another beautiful sunny day. Ok have a good night and get ready to enjoy your weekend.

Glad you had a good grocery trip today.. always nice to come out with the grocery bill being smaller.. never tried acorn squash, so let us know what it taste like..

I saw some orchid plants the other day, but still didn't get one.. I did get some burnt orange merigolds, and some purple varigated patunias.. they are looking good, and my Easter Lily has 4 or 5 big blooms opened on it.. it's so pretty.. should have taken a picture of it, but I forgot..lately we've been having a small steer that belongs to another man get out of the pasture and comes to eat the grass in the yard and in our garden area.. hope he doesn't decide to eat my flowers.. he's a hoot..he has learned how to climb through the barbwire fence without getting hurt..and he never gets out in the road.. so we just let him be.. helps cut the grass and gives fertilizer to boot.. LOL..

Hope you don't have that fluid building up so fast again..I've got it in my feet and legs, and have something going on in my jawbone.. all I need is another problem.. well I'm tired so hope we both rest good tonight..

Love ya Ladybug,

Your day sounds like a really good one! Watch the salt, especially the hidden kind, tonight if you're weight tomorrow.

I've got to go out to see my buddy at the Sanford Flea Market soon so that I can get some plants to replace the ones that didn't make it through the cold weather this year. He's got everything from houseplants and orchids to trees and shrubs. Last year I got an awesome tea olive tree that I planted next to my patio - the delicate, little, white blossoms have a really soft, pretty fragrance!
