Sun is shining

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

I always feel better when the sun is shining. I sat out on deck today and it was nice. The wind wasn't cold this time. I am starting to get a tan just from sitting out there a few minutes whenever I can. I tan real easy. That good old Greek skin.LOL
I got all my minimum exercises done and did 42 minutes of Zookinesis. I take a lot of potty breaks but I still get it all done.Just takes longer. I am very happy that I don't have to go anywhere this week.
I finally got my spice mix made. I did it different this time as I had several spices that I wasn't using and I added them in.One was a jar of italian seasoning and one was a pizza seasoning. Both had same stuff in them that I was mixing up so why let them just sit on shelf. I added a few others too. I used it tonight on supper and it was good.
I did my skillet dinner in over that I learned from Martha Stewart. Layer of onion, layer of sliced potatoes, and meat on top. Season with greek seasoning and my italian mix. Cover and bake.Easy as can be. I did throw a few carrots in there too. Can do same dish with any meat. I used chicken tonight.
I still struggle so much with night eating. I have tried all kind of different things but none has done the trick yet. I am trying to go to bed a little earlier which does help. If I beat this one bad habit the weight will pour off. Just haven't found what is going to work for me.
I will be helping out just a little with my 100 plus team. I will be the question of the day gal. I will enjoy doing that. I will make up a list for myself so I am ready each day.
I still haven't potted the new plants.Had Bill put them out by the others so they can get some sun for now.
Here are a couple of pictures of a tall orchid plant my sister Thelma gave me 4 years ago. You can see how the bulbs are getting taller and fuller. Nothing like waiting for the flowers to open up.
This was on the 10th of the month

This is today

Ok I hope you all had a good day. Need to set TV to tape tonight. Too many favorites coming on.

You make those spices sound so good when all mixed up.. and your supper sounds even more yummy..

I saw some orchids at Walmart the other day and thought of you..I almost bought one, then I realized I don't know one thing about orchids, so I put it back on the shelf.. of course hubby looked at me funny, and I said 'Ladybug grows orchids so I wanted one too'..He just grinned at me cause I always talk about you, and I make him come see what you've been up to with your plants, pictures, and of course the videos.. emoticon

You'll do great as the 'question of the day gal'...good for you!!!

I enjoyed the sun too.. The wind was pretty warm, not what I expected. I walked the trail. I can't wait to work out in the yard and replant some of the plants. Usually I am not ready, but this year I am. I tend to drink half of my water later in the evening, which makes me full. I don't usually feel like having any thing to eat then. Maybe this will work for you? emoticon

How bout trying some sugar free candies like werthers to suck on in the evening.
Or maybe brush your teeth early in the evening.
I've been snacking on frozen blueberries lately and that seems to help me.
Glad you're getting sunshine.

It's a beautiful day here too. I brought my plant home from work today and re-potted it. I inherited it when a co-worker was laid off. I've had it almost a year and it's still alive. The guys at work who have green thumbs told me I need to repot it in a bigger pot. I finally did it. We'll see how it likes it. I wish I could keep it at home but my cat eats all my plants.

Your dinner sounds yummy. We had pancakes, strawberries, and Reddi-Whip. Tomorrow I'm making tacos. If I didn't have a family to feed I'd be eating Ramen noodles every night. LOL

Nice Day

Monday, March 29, 2010

It has been a quiet but nice day.
I did my exercises and weights this morning. Didn't do my zookinesis so I must do that tomorrow.
I did sit outside and read for awhile. But even tho the sun was shining it was windy and the wind was cool. Didn't stay out there long.
Made the Zuppa Touscani soup for supper. I liked it better than Bill. If and when I make it again I will leave the milk out and leave it as a chicken broth base. With the sausage it just has too many calories
Rebekah and kids came by and brought us our late birthday present. It is a stone for the garden that the kids made with Mom helping. It has Kayla at the top,Chris on left and Felicia on right. They outlined a heart in the center. I will put it outside my window in butterfly garden where I can see it out my window

It has been an ok day. I did make an appointment for my mammogram. But The earliest I could get is May.
Mmmmm I guess thats about it. I have been ok with eating. I was up some on Sat but with fluid I never know. The fluid has been somewhat better. Doc told me I could take extra diuretics every other day if I needed to.So far I haven't since last week.
I am looking forward to a loss this sat. I am trying. I don't know how to give up.
Hope you all had a good day. Thanks for always being there for me.

I'm hoping your fluid stays down..and that you have a good loss this week..You inspire me every time I see you say that you don't know how to give up..I admire that so much!!!

Sending you an email in a bit, but until then, enjoy the evening..

Ain't No Sunshine

Sunday, March 28, 2010

I think that is part of an old song. It sure fits Florida today. At least my part of Florida. And from some other blogs I read there is bad weather every where. It has been dark and gloomy all day. Lots of rain and plenty of thunder. Did not mess with the new plants.
In fact haven't done anything productive.
Got up late and just got up from a short nap. Bill is still napping. I had planned to fix some potato sausage with kale soup for supper but I may just order something delivered.
I did exercise but not as much as usual. I did skip breakfast but since I got up so late breakfast and lunch were combined. So I am in great shape with my calories.
I still need to make up my italian blend spices I use.I have all the spices except savory but I have enough I think to make my blend.I only use a little of it anyway.
I still haven't gotten the name of white flower with purple center.Bill was suppose to stop today when he was out and he forgot. But he works next door to Home Depot so he will check it out tomorrow.

I am sorry for the downer blog the other day about a heart transplant. It upset a few people. It really is a positive thing. I do not need a transplant now.I just need to lose 50# so that if I were to take a turn for the worse in the next 11 months the option would be there. I am hoping they can perfect the pump and external battery so that it is small enough to work like a pacemaker. In the past year they have made it smaller. Modern medicine is amazing. There are so many lives being saved.

I will continue to do as I have for a long time.Do all I can on better days and rest on days that aren't so great. And be thankful for them all. I am not going anywhere until it is my time to go.

So I will leave you with some sunshine.

Thank goodness for spell check and dictionary

Hi Ladybug, hope today has been a good one for you in spite of the gloomy weather. It was a beautiful day here with sunshine. A little windy and cool but a good Sunday all together..Went and got my hair cut. She didn't cut much off but I didn't feel like making a fuss about it.. at least the dead ends are gone...

The blog from the other day probably made a few realize how uncertain life is at times, and so their love for you made them worry for you even more..but not because they didn't want you to talk about it..I know seeing and reading what you wrote about the heart a transplant made me keenly aware of just how much you have to go through from day to day in order to live.

It's hard to see our friends going through rough times while we can not do anything to help them..I'm so glad you refuse to give up.. That's the FAITH we all must have, one day at the time..

I hope things are going better for us all, very soon..

Hugs
Pat

I don't think I have ever heard of kale soup. You have another new one on me. We had a delicious rib dinner made by my daughter's boyfriend. It was twice as good because I didn't have to cook it. They washed their clothes here and brought food to cook. I think that is a marvelous trade. Now I am too full and will probably kick back tonight.
Some people don't want to hear the bad, only thegood stuff. If we are true friends then we are willing to listen to all that we have to share with one another. Sometimes we only need an ear and don't want people to try to make it better. I believe in you and am here for you through your whole journey. emoticon

My day started off good but had more drama from oldest daughter. That kinda changed my mood for the day.
Not much going on.Bill was bowling in a charity event. He bowl extra good and had a good time.
I just hung out at home. I did sit out in sunshine for awhile and read my book. I also got all my exercises done.
Bill has almost finished the book he is reading. I ordered him the next one that is about same girl. This is a big thing as he never reads book. This is first book I have ever seen him read. As a reader I could never understand how someone never read a book. So I am very happy to see him reading. LOL
I have found something really bad about my new dutch oven!!!!

It cooks the food too good. I made a tenderloin roast in it and it was awesome. Sometimes I wish I wasn't a good cook. I like my cooking too much.

I will get my new plants in new pots tomorrow.I hope to anyway.
Ok I am tired so I will say good night for now. Hope your weekend is going good.

A Busy but Good Day

Friday, March 26, 2010

Today has been a good day most of the day. Had a little drama with one of my girls but that happens. Comes with being a mother.
I got up earlier than usual and felt better than normal for the am. I got a lot done too. May pay for it tomorrow but when I feel good I do all I can. I have nothing much to do tomorrow but rest. Bill is bowling again tomorrow.
I got my little spare freezer all cleared out and in kitchen freezer.Threw some old stuff away. Then left it to defrost while I went in back room and exercised. When I finished exercising the freezer was all melted. Cleaned it up and turned it on.Then cleaned out and straighten out the fridge.I had some cauliflower and broccoli that needed cut up. Whew. Little freezer need defrosted about once a year.
Then when Bill got home we pulled almost everything out of kitchen freezer and got all the same items together. Then put most of it back in little freezer. I did get a short 30 minute nap.
Then we headed to Home Depot to get 2 more butterfly plants. Got 5 instead.LOL One of these is a lavender plant.

And this one has a purple center.I saw it in a ladies basket or I never would have seen it.

Then it was on to grocery store. All stocked up on salad and fresh veggies etc.
I had a seafood dinner for me.I had a bag of peeled deveined and cooked shrimp. I picked up a small container of fresh oysters. I fixed the oyster a new and lower calorie way. I just sautéed then in a tiny bit of olive oil.Seasoned them with my greek spice. Had some sliced tomatoes and did have 2 slices of light 7 grain bread..
Did good on calories last night and should be in good shape tonight. Will do a tally in a sec. Today was a nice day after a night of raining. Our days of cold weather are behind us.
One of my desert roses bit the dust today and another isn't looking so good. The two biggest ones seem to be going to make it. I wasn't expecting us to have so many cold nights or I wouldn't have left them out.
Ok Thats about it for now.Need to clean kitchen mess up and empty dishwasher. Then it is sit on butt and watch TV. emoticon
