Landon stops by to see Grandma

Sunday, March 21, 2010

The kids stopped by on their way back to Orlando so I could see Landon. At first he was asleep in car and we never wake a baby. But I was very happy he woke up. Heather ran in house and grabbed my camera so I could video tape Landon in his Mom's arms. He is such a happy boy.He is on his way to see Grandpa bowl.I should have let you see Heather and Scott but Landon was the star and I was so glad he woke up. This is first time I have seen him since December

Whew Trying to Catch Up

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Ok Where do I start. I had planned to do this earlier but I was dragging my hinny so much I went back to bed around 11:30 and didn't get up til 1:30.Then had to get my chicken ready for new cast iron dutch oven. It was so much easier to brown the chicken in it.Biggest drawback is that it is heavy. But it has real good handles to hold on to. I checked it about 30 minutes ago and had to add another thing of soup to it so I could throw in potatoes, and onions. I used dry mushroom onion soup that I mixed well with water and then poured it in. I forgot I have a big bunch of chinese green beans or I would have thrown them in. I may add a can of green beans . I also got a turn table for extra spices.I will keep all the extra spices that I use a lot there.I have another spot of ones I rarely use. I got very frustrated at grocery store as they had no thyme or savory. Now Bill will look for it when he is out and about. I need then both as I use them to make my special blend that I use almost every day.

Here is my main cabinet where I sit to cook. The spices on bottom left are ones I use the most often. The big parmesan is my special spice mix. The one on second shelf left side is the turntable one we made.
So I enjoyed another trip to Walmart.
Bill played his team tournament today. They did not do too good.Hopefully he will do better tomorrow when he plays in the singles and doubles. It helped a little that everyone was doing below their normal. He did look spiffy before he left.

It was so nice meeting my spark friends. I did have a funny that happened.Towards the end of our lunch I went to bathroom and came back and resumed eating. It took me several seconds to see the oh so cute gift bag sitting right in front of me. Duh A real senior moment. But Shirley gave me a sparkpeople calendar and cool thing to carry money in. I have the bag right here and use it to put stuff in.Plus it makes me smile when I look at it.

Ok I still had a bunch of emails and posts to check out. It is a beautiful day here. Hope you are having a good weekend.

I like your set up for your spices, that looks real convenient and easy to get to. I bet you are really going to enjoy your new cast iron roaster. lol..yes, they are heavy, but they make the food taste so much better.

Good luck to Bill on his tournaments today. And have yourself another great day. emoticon

Oh I love the looks of your cast iron dutch oven.. that will work for a lot of great meals to be cooked by you Ladybug..

I really do enjoy seeing how you set up your work area in the kitchen. I think if I had gone on to college I might have become an interior designer. Don't get me wrong though, for I don't do so good with my own home. It's just more less plain ole country, lived in and comfy, but I have been told that I have creative ideas. You certainly seem to have the same knack when it comes to your home. Truth be told, I'm more interested in seeing how others display or present their own homes rather than how I put things together. Is everyone that way, or is it just me? LOL.. I always like to change things around, but hubby gets agitated with me cause usually he's the one that has to move the heavy stuff if it involves furniture.. LOL

Wow that Bill is one sharp dressed bowler, and quite handsome if you don't mind me saying so. :) You did good pickin him out of the sea, Eleni..but then he did even better when he picked you!!! hmm, think maybe I could put myself up for adoption.. *Giggle*

Is your special spice blend a family secret? Bet it taste good if you use it a lot. I don't really have a special spice or herb that I choose over another. I do like using Mrs Dash Herb and Garlic.. but that's the only one of Mrs Dash that I really like..the others taste bad to me.

Great gifts from Shirley..That was sweet of her to give you something that makes you smile..

It's cold brrrrrrrrrrrrr here.. down to freezing by 5:00 this afternoon.. rained all morning, but I got out and went shopping and froze my hinny off getting back to the car.. had to get me a new cordless phone, and a few grocerys..

Enjoy your evening, and your chicken.. yum!!! - Pat

I'm glad you are getting to meet and enjoy the Spark friends there in your area, Ladybug. It's a great time to get to do that too what with Bill gone with the bowling teams and all..

You are just flittering here an yon and showing us all that we really should be up and out doing things in our life and not letting the world pass us by. I'm enjoying seeing your pictures of these friends and you.. You look beautiful again today..

Now you can rest tonight, and enjoy writing about your friends in your journal.. won't that be a fun memory to read back on.

I'm doing a bit better today, thank God.. I went with my hunny and got an ice cream cone, even though I wasn't spose to have the sugar.. sometimes you just gotta do it, and start over the next day..

Rest well, love ya..

Met Another Sparker Tonight

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Just got home awhile ago from having dinner with Susie and her hubby Paul.We had a good time. The funniest part was Bill got lost trying to find the place. He came from work but finally found us shortly after I sat down. It was great meeting Susie. They were so kind as to drive several hours to get close to me.Next year maybe Bill and I will head down their way.
But here we are with full tummies.

And just as I was leaving house I got a package from my cyber daughter Robin who had sent me a birthday gift by UPS that got lost. They found it and delivered it. It was so awesome. I was smiling from ear to ear when I got it .I have the chimes hanging close by until Bill hangs it outside tomorrow.Smile every time I look at it. Those are baby cadbury candy eggs in my one hand.

So it has been a great day.
Tomorrow I met another spark member for lunch. Will have a picture tomorrow.
I finished straightening out the spices. I need to get a small turntable. Time to make my special italian seasons. i have two jars of reg italian seasonings I think I will just add to my mixture. Since I make my own I haven't been using it. Each time I made a big container I do it a little different. I am going to try to measure everything this time.Maybe.
Ok I have stuff to do. The fluid has been good today and joint pain was better last night.Probably won't last long but will enjoy it while I can. I was able to exercise some today which is good. Hope you all have a great weekend. I will be a bowling widow as Bill is in a special tournament Sat and Sun. I may get to see Landon for a few minutes. They are in town and are going to watch him bowl the last game. They are going to swing by here for just a few minutes.I am hoping he is awake so I can see him walking. Ok I do have to go.

Tired Day

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Had a rough night with joint pain.On top of that I have lost almost 13# of fluid weight. That wears me out.
I had a visitor in back yard today. He has been here before. He really is a cool cat.Has a big busy tail.

He never stays around long. I still haven't made up my mind about getting a cat. I am still inclined to not get one. If I see one I really want I might change my mind.
I made my roast in the oven today and Bill loved it. A crock pot is much easier and not nearly as messy as browning the meat. But it was good. I put some lipton dry soup mix on meat and then dredged in flour and brown it all over. Then pour remaining soup mix over meat and 1 cup of water.Covered with foil and baked for 2 hours at 340 deg. Then added red potatoes, carrots,an onion quartered, and a few pieces of celery. Lightly dusted with garlic powder. Covered and cooked another 2 hours. The broth was great.

Just missed a great shot. Two mockingbirds squaring off on side of pool . Just couldn't grab camera fast enough.
Ok Nothing new here.I am meeting sparker tomorrow evening .I am looking forward to it.
Have a good evening. I am going to go put a heating pad on my knees.

Please stay "dry". It is so much easier on the joints. Your photography is wonderful. I recently fostered a 5 yr. old beautiful Black cat. She is very skitish so I finally went over & borrowed my friends cat that she fostered at the same time. He is a BIG yellow Romeo. Just loves getting loves & is in our laps whenever possible. But he did exactly as we had hoped. Missy came out of hiding & has been his companion ever since. My friend has 3 other cats so she has decided to let me keep him. I have to go next week & change his contract over to me. Now they are both a JOY! I think cats are one of the most awsome creatures that Godp created. We fostered these cats from our Animal Rescue Shelter. We have so many cats that are left because of death so they are older & not easy to adopt out so this program puts the older cats in us older adults homes. The Shelter retains ownership, provide the dry food, gives them any needed shots. They pay all vet bills & they check in on them every 3 months so see how they are doing. All they ask of us is to give them lots of Loving & a good home. They actually discourage us from adopting a cat because then when we go, this cat has to go thru grieving too. This is a really neat program. Well good luck with your fluid problem.

You should put your food pics in a cook book. They are better than some in there. I keep smiling at your background.
I pray you are feeling abetter today. All that fluid wreaks havoc with your body my friend. I wish you didn't have to go through that. But God never gives us anything more than we can handle. Even if we don't like it. Blessings my dear friend.

I sure hope your knees feel better today. And why is your body retaining so much extra fluid?

Your pot roast looks delicious! Ohhh, and is that an iron skillet? I have to get some of those, they are great for cooking! My Mom use to have a really nice one, and my father in law cooked with them all the time. I also enjoy cooking with the crock pot, they are so much easier, and especially if one is working all day.

Nice picture of the TOM cat, pretty green eyes...like emeralds.
Hope you have a better day today, and your joints are not bothering you so much.

Crock pots are much peter than cleaning out a roasting pain. Just let it soak and it is clean. Try a pain patch--I use them on my back and they work.

That pot roast looked absolutely delicious! Thank you for the great pictures, Eleni - You make my day!

It must be "line-drawing time" for the mockingbirds - I had two squaring off on the fence in my little side yard this morning. We had a nesting pair in a tree next to my office building - they were so funny! They'd actually attack people that walked too close to the tree, but they only attached people with blond or light grey hair! Spookular!

Wow, that roast looks scrumptious delicious.. and I bet it taste even better than it looks.. It does take a while to cook in the oven, but oh the tender rewards and the flavors are so much better tasting, IMO, than in a crockpot.. it looks very much like mine..I agree that it's not a recipe to make every week because of the time it takes..but as long as Bill and you enjoyed it, that's what counts.. :)

The kitty is a lean one, but he's cunning and careful in his steps.. he's a hunter for sure.. I use to have a kitten that looked similar to his markings, but the coyotes got him..I called him Tommy the Tormentor, because he loved to torment the birds.. LOL..

I hope the fluid stays away from you for awhile.. that's an aweful lot of stress to your body to lose that much in one days time.. I'm back on the steroids again, and now my fluid will start to build again, not looking forward to that one iota..

I hope you rest tonight.. Does the heating pad do better than ice packs? Love your little cartoon girl too..

gentle hugs,
Pat

13 pounds is a lot of fluid. That's almost double the weight of some newborns.

I can't believe it takes that long to cook a roast in the oven!!! I guess I won't be trying that. emoticon However, if I ever come to Florida you can make it for me!
