I actually watched this last week, but I didn't say anything, because I'm naturally not one to easily speak up, but I'm getting better at responding. Anyway, this one has been sticking with me all week (almost 2 weeks). Did you notice that the birds became more quiet when the airplane was gone? It's interesting that we become accustomed to noises and things around us and we don't notice them. Maybe you are used to hearing the airplanes. The birds may be singing with the airplanes, or maybe they are annoyed by them, as the planes are a part of their outside world also. The birds sing (or yell and holler) to what we are accustomed to. There are things all around us that we are accustomed to. Things both healthy and unhealthy, things we notice and things we don't. So the big question is do we sing about them or ignore them or do something about them. I guess that depends on what it is and whether we notice or not. It's difficult to notice things we are so accustomed to, things around us and things we do. But it all boils down to our choices. What we choose to see and what we choose to accept and what we choose to change. We cannot change the fact the there are airplanes in the sky, but we can choose to yell and holler about it or we can choose to sing. I just read your other blog, about your CHF , that is a difficult one to deal with. There are some things you can change and some you cannot. That is for you to figure out. I wish you the very best as you deal with your situation. I enjoyed listening to your birds sing it was great! I also enjoyed the picture of you and the little boy! That was great too! People do not believe we have Spring here in Fl. We sure do this year, and probably because it was such a cold winter. Have you noticed the trees are just bursting with new growth? Ahh Spring!

It is maple sugar time here in the adirondacks and valleys. ( We supply the sap and Vermont turns it into syrup!) Last week on my walk I noticed the birds, nuthatches, crows, maybe ravens, I am not sure, being more lively. The snow is gone, except for the occasional hump and tidbits of green are showing now on the ground. I am going to the post office and will do my walk. I woke up late but am sure glad the days will be longer now. I look forward to seeing the robins and other birds return soon. Especially the ducks, they may already be coming to the creeks here to rest for the night. I love hearing the birdsongs and look forward to spotting the osprey's return . He likes a certain telephone pole I can see from my living room window. I don't know why, but that is his spot. Also have to be watchful on my walks for bears and coyotes and the occasional lonely wolf around here, but its a gorgeous area and I look forward to the trees beginning to leaf out in a few weeks. It will be up in the fifties the next few days . Have fun! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Love the birds. My back yard has been filled with robins. Yesterday we have a flock of blackbirds stop by and I saw one cardinal. I saw another little bird that had an orange and yellow breast, the back was black with white. It was pretty but I wish I knew what kind he was. So happy Spring is sneaking in.

I love hearing your birds sing. They sound so happy. I would be too in the warm Florida sun! We went down to the lakefront (Lake Michigan) today and got some pictures of Alex in front of some Kenosha landmarks for a school project. It was a little chilly with the wind coming off the lake and the ground was soggy with the snow melt and rain BUT it was sunny!! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Lots of the background birds sound like house wrens..and of course we can hear that you have an airplane over head some places.. Beautiful day there in your back yard.. Thanks for sharing the sounds of Florida with us.. Hugs, Pat Report Inappropriate Comment |

Thank you for sending out some spring! It is a rainy, viciously windy day here. Our birds on the pond behind the house are hunkered down trying to ride out the storm. At least it isn't snow! Cape Cod has a late spring; so I won't be hearing a lot of songbirds for a while. Thanks again! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Sorry I didn't blog yesterday but just didn't have anything to say.
I will make up for it today
We got groceries all done and I got some new spices that I have no idea how to use yet. I got marjoram, ground cumin, curry powder,HerbsDe Provence ( mixture of rosemary, marjoram, thyme, savory and lavender) and red pepper flakes just for Angel. I told Angel that no matter what I cook on Wednesday when she and Brianna come she has to put the red pepper flakes on it.Bill told me to tell her I was fixing g french toast or something real sweet. See he is mean.
She is always asking for it so I got some. I will have to play with other spices.let me know if you use any of them and how you use them. The Provence one is just an Italian spice similar to one I make myself. I may just dump it in my blend.
They had some nice beef roasts on sale so we got 2.I can cook just about anything on the stove or in a crock pot or in an oven. But have never conquered making an old fashion pot roast in the oven. I am going to try this week. How do you guys cook a pot roast. The seasonings you use is what I am interested in. I love Bob Evans pot roast sandwiches .
OK Enough about groceries.
The doc office called about my blood work.Cholestrol is up some but he doesn't want to do anything yet. We decreased the Lipitor to every other day due to leg muscle pain. Potassium is low which was no surprise. So instead of 17 pills a day I now get to go to 18 plus extra when I have to take extra diuretic.
They checked my thyroid but didn't do a complete test so he want me to get that done Monday. I take meds for thyroid but they do effect heart so he takes care of dosage. Gyno doc first put me on it but she turned the dosage over to him because of heart. Not only can thyroid affect all aspects of your body so can the dosage.
Next------ With Bill's help we got some gardening done. Will take some pics tomorrow. But we planted some onions, yellow squash, tomato, okra. And I repotted the 2 new butterfly plants.Bill is going to put 2 tomatoes in one of those hanging thingy's and 3 in the earth box. He will do those tomorrow. Since I do better with plants and my butterfly plants have done well I may get some more from a catalog. I have a few picked out that are suppose to attract butterflies and humming birds.
The one butterfly plant I showed you has changed in the last few days. The name of it is Golden Shrimp Plant ( Camaron Amarillo) and the one that looks like a sunflower is called Euryops. Here is a couple of new pics of the Golden Shrimp Plant. I really like it.
The Tulip bulbs I planted are coming along nicely.
The water globe may need to be filled more often than I want to fool with. They may end up just being a decoration for plant.
Today has been a beautiful day.Sunny and blue skies. I even sat out on deck for a few minutes this morning.Complete opposite of the last two days.
I will be meeting two spark friends next week. One on Thursday and one on Friday.I am looking forward to it.
Ok I think this is enough. I have gotten off track but am working to get turned around.A few days of not feeling well screws me up in many ways. I have managed to keep 50# off but getting back to losing isn't going great. I am up and down the same pounds. Fighting the fluid all the time doesn't help. But I never give up .Just have some set backs.
Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Yup, the lipton onion soup will work great, and the way I cook the pot roast is the way my great great grandmother, my grandmother, and my mom still does it.. It was always the way my Nana had it done on Sunday afternoon when we went to visit..it's the way I cook it every time I make pot roast.. can't hardly beat that old fashioned way of country cookin'.. Pat p.s. I also cook my beef tips the same way, then I either put them over top of mashed potatoes, or sometimes over a little bit of bow tie pasta.. that makes a great meal too.. but of course the carbs are pretty high, so have to allow for those in your daily menu.. Oh my gosh, after reading those recipes am so hungry for pot roast, Need to try the iron dutch oven one as soon as we dig out the camping supplies. Your plants are doing so well, you motivate me to try some summer squash, will try it on the lanai as the bugs don't get the veggies first[ hopefully] Your leg cramps will hopefully stop when your potassium increases, with that many pills its a wonder that you don't rattle. Thank goodness science can keep us going one pill at a time. Pray that you will start feeling better very soon, and as you said "this is the year"!!! Report Inappropriate Comment |

The shrimp plant is beautiful. My water globes also ended up as decoration. However, when making my fairy garden they came in handy. A few of the plants are coming back but have a long way to go. Sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday. BTW I have read that hot pepper has something that helps relieve pain. Don't know this for a fact, just something I read. Hope you're having a great Sunday with the emphasis of SUN.

Nice visit! I make declicious pot roasts all the time in my great grandfather's dutch oven. Wish I could give you a recipe, but they are all different since I throw in the seasonings I feel like that day. For the liquid, you could put any of your clear broths or soups and water! Your plants beautiful! I planted my seeds yesterday, and hoping to get them planted early this year. Wow! 18 pills a day, that is a lot, but with all the effort you have been putting toward a healthier new you, there will come a day when you won't have to take so many or any at all. I love cooking with spices too, pot roast is one of my favorite things to make. I start my roast early, and in a skillet, and let it simmer with broth or bouillon cubes. I use carrots, potatoes and onions. I dislike the taste of cabbage, so make a cole slaw instead. Have fun with all those new spices!! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Hi Ladybug, It looks like you have been getting ready for a garden show, all those beautiful flowers you and Bill are planting may make you have the most beautiful yard in your neighborhood..I love flowers with yellow blooms.. so cheery! You went big time on seasonings..I like to use the rosemary, and thyme when I cook a whole chicken in the oven.. just rub it all over the bird, and roast it..smells great while cooking..plus I use lemon pepper on the chicken too.. The savory you can use sort of like sage.. don't go to heavy cause it can be really strong if you get to much..It's good on roasted meats like pork, sirloin tip roast, & chicken, and also on roasted potatoes..it's sorta used like poultry seasoning..I've never used the lavender..but cumin is used in all kinds of mexican dishes, chili or you can make your own taco seasoning and put it in that.. Lots of people like red pepper flakes on breakfast eggs, or pizza, soups, stews..anything that you would want a burst or zing to spice it up a bit.. I make my pot roast like mom taught me.. I put all the seasoning on the roast, rub it in good, then I flour the outside and shake off some of the excess flour. Then I have a deep cast iron skillet with a lid that fits very tight. I put a bit of canola oil in bottom of skillet, just enough to cover the bottom of skillet and get it good and hot, Not smoking, then put the roast in it and brown on all sides.. then take some VERY HOT water, about 1/2 cup or so and add it to the skillet with the roast. *be careful* it spits at ya.. then slap the lid on it to capture the steam. Then put the whole thing in the oven until it's good and tender, maybe 3 hours depending on how big the roast is.... I add the onions, carrots and a tiny bit of crushed garlic and the potatoes about an hour before the roast is done.. cook it on about 350 degrees, real slow..the flour off the roast makes the gravy for you since you added the water.. Enjoy the YUMMY!! This is my husbands favorite.. Feeling very tired and this is another novel..so will hush for now.. Looks like you and I both are walking drugstores.. hahaha.. have a good rest tonight.. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Gorgeous plants! Thank's for the pictures! As for the curry powder, there are lots of recipes for curry. I'll have to dig out my recipe for curried meat balls for you. Your butterfly plants are so pretty. I have two butterfly bushes which look nothing like your plants. They were just planted last year so only got about four feet tall but will be six feet this year and about that big around. As to pot roast, follow the first idea. I ALWAYS add one or two bay leaves and garlic (because my family loves it). In addition to the carrots and potatoes, I add chunks of onion and celery. Afer I defat the broth, I put it in the blender with the onion and celery, sneaking in some veggies. Have fun with the spices! Jean Report Inappropriate Comment |

I've never seen butterfly plants before and the blossoms are so beautiful! Thanks for showing us the pictures. All of your gardening activities this early in the year make me want to be in Florida. (That's a new one for me because I hate summer heat even here in Virginia!) I'm not so great at making pot roast. I just cook roast beef (bottom round) in one of those black roasting pans on a little round rack, fat side up, with dehydrated minced onion sprinkled very generously on top of that and about 1/2 inch of water in the bottom of the pan. Sometimes I add potatoes, carrots, and onions during the last hour of cooking. It's not the best I've ever eaten, but it's still delicious with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. My husband puts cumin in chili along with chili powder. It really makes the chili delicious! I hope you are feeling better each day! Sharon Report Inappropriate Comment |

I like Bill's idea of making french toast. Hee, hee, hee. What a jokester!!! Cumin is good in chili and mexican type dishes. I cook my pot roast in the crockpot because it seems so much easier than the oven. The house doesn't heat up either. I rub mine with salt, pepper, paprika and thyme. I'm having trouble remembering to take 1 pill!! That's why I don't take birth control pills. I'd never remember to take them!!! WOW, 17+ pills!!! Report Inappropriate Comment |
