Good Day But a Little Busy

I am feeling much better today.Even got all my exercises done. Got my new Sit and tone tape this afternoon.Will check it out tomorrow.
As usual we spent a fortune at grocery store. At least 70% of groceries were fruits and veggies. Cauliflower and broccoli was on sale.I already told Bill we were having it twice a week from now on. We may have it 3 times emoticon
I did beat the food demon last night. Looks good for tonight. Tomorrow is weigh in day and I am not sure what it will be.I have gotten rid of a lot of fluid but I am not fretting about it.What will be will be

Bill has decided he wants to go to Olive Garden instead of Carrabba's.That works for me. I have checked the web site and have my meal picked out. Soup, salad,(my salad dressing which I will take with me) And the Herbed grilled salmon.That will put me around 800 cal. Which is fine when I plan for it.I am going to try to not eat bread sticks as 1 is 150 cal. I may skip the soup.Not sure when we are going.Probably Sunday.Bill's daughter is meeting him for breakfast tomorrow.
It didn't get as cold as they said last night.Tonight was cold but not bad. I wore short sleeve blouse to grocery store. So I was only out in it for a few minutes.
I still haven't gotten into the GS cookies. I am waiting til after I weigh in tomorrow.
Well I have a couple of things I need to do before the Olympics.I want to watch Apollo skate tonight.

    That bird seems to be all puffed up. Perhaps he was posing. We have some here but they are mean. But not as mean as some of those cardinals.
It sounds like a great choice for Olive Garden. Good job on your planning. Stick to it, I know you can. I love broccoli and cauliflower too but if I ate it 3 times a week my house would be needing a lot of air freshner since we can't open the windows with all this cold.
I also think Apollo was cheated in light of the Canadian not being DQ'd with his hand pushing the Korean. Guess the Canadian judge was blind to that. Either DQ both of them or neither.

    well i,ll try this again i hit a button and it all disappeared. i like the picture of the blue jay. i always spend to much on groceries too. i bought spinach, asparagus, and in fruit line i got blueberries and cantalope and honey dew and honey tangerines. i buy these all now have to remember to eat them.how do you cook asparagus do you boil or fry them in frying pan?i forget haven,t cook them for ages.well i,m still shoveling the snow, yesterday i went out 5 times first was the deck than came in for a coffee and than went out did sdewalk came in had breakfast and out i went again open drive way and plow comes along grrrrr! out i go again ioen up what he did.than we went grocery shopping after i had a break than went to work when i got home i was very very tired and sore. didn,t have problem sleeping through. thank goodness.well take care and have a nice supper with Bill.

    Yeah Apollo was cheated out of that race.. He wasn't pushing anyone down just protecting himself..The judge was blind if he couldn't see that too. Plus I don't think that guy that won gold should have been given that, cause he skated in backwards, not forwards, he more less fell across the finish line.. -- **Y((^^((*&^%^&&^^ $%$$# ----that's cuss words, sorry!!!

At least he got a metal in the last race with the team didn't he?

Have a good time and enjoy Olive Garden. I have to really stay away from there, limit my visits...I can get in real trouble there. But sounds like you have it planned out ! Good for you!

    Sounds like you and your sweetie are going to have a lovely time together this weekend. I've never been to Olive Garden, but I've heard a lot of good things about it..especially how good the bread sticks are..

You are doing great with planning your menu before you get there..so many times we sabbatical our own efforts because we don't plan for them..and BTW, you're doing good not getting into those cookies, Ladybug..

Those bluejays are mean little birds at times..They steal the other birds eggs, but I can't help but love how pretty they are..Those little fellows are one of my favorite colored birds..

I've been bad today.. Apple Crisp did me in tonight..I knew better than to make it, but hubby was hungry for sweets, and Pat followed along blindly.. NOT!!!! emoticon

    'Sounds like you have a great strategy for the Olive Garden! So many times we view eating out as a something to dread or fear. But if we put a positive spin on it and enjoy the food and the company, it will become easier and easier to cope. We just come from the "clean your plate" generation, and it's a hard habit to break.

    I LOVE Olive Garden. Their salad is delicious and those bread sticks are hard to stay away from. My favorite soup is the Zuppa Toscana but it's so high in calories. I won't even get started on the desserts!!! They do have some healthy choices though.

I have asparagus to eat. It's a yummy treat. I also have celery but it doesn't fill me up one bit. I guess I have to eat it with some peanut butter.

We'll have the Olympics on tonight too. I don't know if I'll actually watch Ohno skate. The last time my heart accelerated and I had to leave the room.

    Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow. Mine is Sunday and I have some worries (that I created).
You are really wise to pre-plan when you go out to eat. I think I'd select Olive Garden over Carraba's, too. I really wasn't overly impressed with the one in my area. It seemed crowded.
I love broccoli and cauliflower cut into small pieces (raw) and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette. Have you ever tried it that way?

Short Hello

Have been extra tired today. When I have large weight swings from fluid it takes the wind out of me so to speak. So I have been taking it easy today.Only exercised for 17 minutes . But my goal is only 10 minutes a day.
Somehow I lost track of food yesterday so I am calling it a draw.
The sun was shining but we are suppose to be in the low 30's tonight. We didn't bring in plants so I have my fingers crossed.
Here are the flowers Bill brought me today. He is so good to me.He knew I wasn't feeling well and that I love cut flowers.

Have a good night.
My grand daughter just dropped off some Girl Scout cookies. That I didn't need.
The new cranberry cookies are 120 cal just for 2 cookies.

    hi Eleni,hope you are feeling better, the glads are very beautiful, i love glads they come in all different colours.you are lucky to have a guy who thinks of you to give you flowers instead of chocolates, bill is a keeper for sure if i want flowers i got to buy them. my guy all he thinks of is food and he brings me chocolate bars instead of flowers.he thinks flowers are not eatable.give me flowers i,d be better off.you take care of yourself my friend and do lots of resting.have a great day oh yeah i,m sending some snow we had a snow storm on friday and snowing again today. emoticon

Girl scout cookies are da-bomb as some of the kids say around here, but they would be blowing me up like one if I ate to many of them.. Watch it, but go ahead and have a few if you have a little lee-way!!

I do hope that fluid moves out of your system and you get to feeling better.. Fluid scares me especially since you have that heart problem.. REST REST, and REST some more if you need it!!

    I am so glad you are listening to your body and taking it easy. I had a horrendous problem with fluid retention when I was expecting my first son beginning at the third month, and the doctor said I should lay down on my left side . . . something to do with circulation. Anyway, I know that rest is essential when fluid is an issue.

Your flowers are gorgeous, and I see you have them in my favorite vase of yours! I'm hoping your plants will be fine tonight, too. It is a lot of work moving them in and out, and I'm sure Bill comes home tired after work, too. Do you ever just drape newspaper over the plants to protect them from the cold? If there's one that's particularly susceptible to frost, maybe you could do that.

Sleep well tonight and if worse comes to worse, put the cookies down the garbage disposal and pretend you are shoving them down that food demon's throat. I know that's wasting food, but heck, it's better than the alternative with me. I lose all control when it comes to cookies in the house. OR . . . you could put them in the trunk of your car to get them out of the house.

Hey, you could crumble them and feed them to the birds, but store the crumbs in the trunk of the car because crumbs are yummy, too.

Girl Scout cookies - Yum!! This is the first time in 10 years I haven't bought any. I didn't even look at the order form. 4 different people were selling them at work and the prices were different. I just hope I don't get suckered into buying a box when I'm walking into a store.

I hope y0ur plants survive. By next week we may actually see 40 degrees!!! I sure hope they're right!

Rainy and Cold

Our sunshine and 70 degree weather is gone.It is cloudy , rainy and cold. I just checked and it says it is 52 on back porch but it sure feels colder out there.Probably because it is so damp. It looks very wintry out there. Did not sit outside today BRRRRRRRR
I did have a little visitor. This little finch really liked this old okra stalk.
I beat the food demon last night but only by 17 calories.But I still won.
Have been fighting the urge to stress eat but we will see.
I got all my exercises done. I am doing over an hour every day.
I have started making a larger salad at lunch so I can snack on it. I so wish I could do like some of you and even Bill.Be satisfied with small portions.But I need that volume.At least now I do.So I will keep on keeping plenty of low cal stuff like tomatoes and cucumbers around to fill the hole so I don't grab high calorie stuff.
I ordered another DVD. It is the original Jodi Stolove--- Sit Down & Tone Up
I have the 2nd one she made.
Well and thats a deep subject. I can't think of anything exciting or earth shaking so I will say bye for now. Stay warm and be healthy.

    First off, that bird is pretty! I like to watch the finch's here at my Mom's house when they come to feed in the summer. They are so relaxing to watch, and beautiful! I wish I could get the humming birds to start feeding, but I only see one once per summer.

That's great that you were able to stick to your calories by 17 points. I like it when that happens! Also congratulations on getting that hour work out in every day! Keep sparking!!

    Love your little bird! We have a lot in our back yard every day. I told Ted he needs to slow down feeding them or we were going to wind up in the poor house! Then I went out and bought a new thistle feeder! lol
Sorry the sun was not out at your house, and the cold weather is with you. We got up in the 50's today and it sure didn't feel like it!
I, too, have to make sure I have something to snack on or I will head for the chips, and I'm bad when it comes to them. I can't seem to stop at just one serving!

    Awwww, such a sweet birdie. You are so good about uploading pictures to your blog, and that makes it really fun to read along. We have a winter weather advisory here, but so far, nothing has fallen from the sky and it is still above freezing. Thank goodness! I let Doug fill-in for the dog today. I wanted to talk rather than train the dog, and I definitely didn't want to bring her along and ignore her pulling. Looks like I might start teaching braille again as a subcontractor rather than as an employee of the public school system. Found out it is a wonderful way to control the number of hours a week I'd work. They hired someone yesterday, so I was a day late. But they already knew of me, and they don't want to lose me. I told them I'll be here when they're ready. They definitely have something for me for next school year. Yippppppeeeeeee! I want to buy my hubby the $6,000 (probably $7,000 by now) hearing aids. Back when we both worked, he was in denial about his hearing loss. Now he's ready to get them, but they are so pricey!!! He functions well enough without them for now, but he really does need them.

    I love finches. Sorry about your cold weather. We have about a foot of snow on the ground and I am really very tired of it.

Just 18 miles to the East of us, they have no snow so must have stalled over
our house.

    Beautiful little bird.. Nature is so wonderful, even in the dead of winter, or the beginning of spring time.. Always something to admire and appreciate.

Would you believe that we have sunshine, and now you all have the rainy cloudy weather. Comes in spurts and drifts on by to let someone else experience the menu of the day.. :)

I feel like stress eating with you today, but will try to restrain myself.. It's times like this that are hard for me to stay out of the kitchen and fight my food demon. So I do understand..

I heard your voice about my shoulder and I listened, and if it's not better in the morning I plan on going to find me a doctor even if it means the E.R. Thank you for caring, Ladybug..

    Love the pictures of your little finch!! They are so perfect yet so small!!
I would like a bit of cooler weather for a short time only - its a bit cooler here today (30C - 86F) Lets hope the seasons chage soon for both of us - you to Spring/Summer and us to Autumn/Winter.
I love the Sit Down and Tone Up - I use it with weights 3 x a week, changing it with More Sit Down and Tone Up.!! Enjoy when it comes!! Its better for the body the rotate the exercises a bit!!

It has been a good day for the most part. Did get some disturbing news today but it is just part of life.
It is Bill's birthday and I told him I would fix whatever he wanted.So it was regular burgers and real french fries. Not something we usually have. But he is so good to eat whatever I fix so this was his day. They surprised him at work with an ice cream cake. I told them to not send me any but they did anyway.But it was just a very small piece. It was good. Yes I ate it. Can't remember the last time I had some. I am also taking him to his favorite Italian restaurant this weekend.We haven't been in a long time as I am trying to stay away from restaurants at night and especially pasta places.
I did beat my food demon last night but again it was real close. I don't know how I will do tonight.I am near my top range right now.
I am also having trouble with fluid again.Hard to keep my focus when my weight swings up 12# pounds overnight. I know it isn't a real gain but it still throws me.
I did get all my exercises done.Even went outside as sun finally came out.Sat outside for about 2o minutes.The sun was actually hot.But we are heading toward rain and cold temps later in the week.Nothing like what you guys are having but very cold for us.

    Good morning, sweet lady. One thing I have learned to respect since joining Spark community is that food is NOT my enemy. I look at my bad days as learning experiences, learning more about myself, and know what to avoid next time, or try and learn how to eat this certain food in moderation the next time.
I blew it recently eating the last of my two pieces of demonic peanut butter pies in cupcake form (thank God only two left, haha!). I allowed myself to savor the taste, let it go, and move on, beginning again on my program the next day. I didn't used to be like this. Spark has changed my life, and the people that make it!

    Eleni, I vote for getting whatever you love to eat at the Italian Restaurant on Saturday, and ask for a box at the beginning of the meal so you can put half of it directly into the box for Sunday. Then savor the evening out and the fine dining with your hubby without distress!

    One burger and fries won't destroy your weeks work.. You'll get back on track in the morning, and who knows, this might just confuse the metabolism enough for you to even lose a few ounces or a pound.. especially since you haven't been eating cake and fries.. anyway.. glad you and Bill had a nice meal and Italian later on sounds just scrumptious..


The snow stopped, and I'm so glad it did.. it's still colder than a polar bears nose! I'm evnvious of your sunshine and temps, but once summer gets here, I'll be wishing for polar bear noses again.. haha..

What book are you reading? Any good ones that I should know about.. I'm stuck on the same old books all the time.. Need to find different ones to break my Nora Roberts habit..

    Eleni, I love your spirit! Sometimes you just have to let yourself enjoy a piece of icecream cake! You know, one thing that has made a big difference in my staying "in range" on my calories is that I don't ever eat things I don't like. My biggest strategy for restaurants (I love Italian and Greek!) is to have them bring a box with my meal so I can put half away. If you can't trust yourself...Have the waiter do it before you see your plate!

    Every day is a new day - so just enjoy the meal, enjoy the birthday - it only comes once a year, then start again the next day.
Have you checked your fluid problem isn't linked to salt (sodium)? You can track your sodium intake on your tracker!!

I'm glad you and Bill are enjoying his birthday! Try not to dwell on what you should've or should not have eaten. Just keep moving forward and keep your focus on the big picture. You can do this!

Research I did on Calories needed to maintain and lose.

Since my original web site seemed on the high side I looked around and found some others that you plug in your info and it gives you an answer.
Here is what I ended up with for me. I will save these sites and check again as I lose more weight.
I did research other web sites.Here is what I found for me. Some are close.I think last one sounds most reasonable. The calculations for me were based on sedentary lifestyle.

    Wow! Thanks for these links, I checked tham out, all allow me more then I am on now. I must say tho it is tempting to add a few more calories I seem to be doing ok (so far) on what I am doing now, but I did find it very interesting.

    Thanks for posting these links. The last one allows me quite a few more calories than I am on right now, I need to check these out later.
I've been busy too, chopping and dicing :) all weekend. I made my first pita bread wrap with veggies, umm, it was filling and good to boot, too! Homemade salsa 'cause I was out! The way I've been eating lately, I may be turning part vegetarian, lol.

    Thank you for doing the research on the calories needed to lose or maintain weight, Ladybug.. You have been thinking about this and it shows since you and have come up with a really nice list of links.

The last link on the list seems to be exactly what Sparks has set for me, and that's what I've been going by to lose my 40#'s.. so I'll keep doing what I'm doing..

Are you close, calorie wise, to what Sparks says to consume daily, or do you not use Sparks tracker? I'm just curious since I know you track every thing you cook, like your soup, etc..

Today has been a pretty good day.. Been having issues with my right shoulder blade.. hurts a lot, not sure what it is.. may have shingles or just inflammation from over exercising it..Arthritis really hits me hard at times, so that might be part of it..

    I found that the last link in your blog was very interesting - About 7wks ago I had my basic BMI, BMR and other things professionally tested, and no one believed the answers, but this site agrees exactly with the results!!
However I nave a very low BMR - partly genetic and partly caused by excessive sedentary lifestyle - and I tend to think that the calories they set for me - although they are correct for me and what I am eating - would be on the low side for the average person!!
Also I think a lot of people would find it hard to stick to a diet as low in calories as that!!
Having said that - I'm not losing weight even though I am sticking to it - so may have to ring in the changes very soon!!
This really shows that - although they are important -calories are not the only factor in weight loss by far!!
