I think I'm up to about day 120 or so since my "do over." I really lost count somewhere and might stop counting all together.
Last week was such a horrible week. I'm so glad it's Monday and my TOM is here. Now the "crazies" have settled down a bit. Last week I was so hungry. I ate EVERYTHING! The week before I was a bit mentally unstable. That's the polite way of saying it, I guess.
I went to start ripping out the wallpaper in the guest bathroom and what did I find? Black mold!!! REALLY? So that project is at a complete standstill. I looked up how to remove it and hubby says he'll do it. He means well but I know he doesn't have the time. UGH! It's always something. Now I'm wondering what else is lurking behind all the other walls. This bathroom is downstairs in a small corner. The family room surrounding it has 70s paneling so I can just imagine what's behind there. That's a much bigger project that after 11 years of being in this house, I still don't want to tackle.
I think the Y is closed today so I'm going to take a walk to CVS. It's a mile there and a mile back. And I'm taking mom to do some shopping. So I got a lot of walking on my schedule today. I've got to get back on the healthy eating bandwagon. Last week was a mess! I Googled "why am I so hungry before my period" but all I got was other people talking about it in their blogs. Then I looked up "PMS symptoms" and this is what I got:
"If you're craving sugar, you're craving it for a reason," Somer says. That reason is shifting levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone, which can also decrease levels of the chemical serotonin in the brain. These changes may affect a woman's mood and trigger PMS symptoms.
In fact, studies have shown that some women with PMS may take in 200 to 500 more calories a day. Those additional calories typically come from fats, carbohydrates, or sweet foods.
Rather than turning to sugar to boost serotonin levels, Somer advises eating whole grains instead.
It's good to know it's not all in my head.
Make today great!

Sigh.... I just finished cooking a delicious dinner (if I must say so myself). I found a recipe in one of my old Kraft Food cookbooks. Oven-baked pork chops over stuffing topped with sliced red and green apples. The pork chops are really moist. I'm not the best cook, so this is a BIG deal for me. My 19 year old said he's going to sign me up for The Worst Cooks In America cooking show on tv.
Anyway...hubby just called and said he's working a double shift. Again. I told him what I cooked and he said he was going to sneak away to come home and eat. We'll see.
The little one is at grand moms. My 19 year old is out doing his own thing. My 16 year old is at a sleep over. And here I sit. Eating dinner alone. Listening to Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You" in the background over and over. Maybe I should play something different.
UPDATED: Hubby just stopped by and had dinner. Now I'm not as lonely.

Yup, I almost gave into a binge.
I went and had my blood work done early this morning as soon as Kina got on the bus. I wasn't really hungry so I grabbed a Quaker Smash bar. Have you tried them? They're only 90 calories. And I had 1/2 a grapefruit. Drank lots of water. Then I was on my way.
Afterwards, I stopped at the grocery store because I had a coupon for a free gallon of milk. I'm a big couponer. Coupons are like money to me. While I was there I decided to do my grocery shopping. They had some great sales. 99 cents a pound for grapes, bags of frozen veggies for 88 cents, etc. But wait....I haven't eaten yet. And I'm grocery shopping.
So I'm sure you know I bought way more than I intended to buy and the boys were in school, hubby was asleep because he worked a double last night. So it was up to me to carry the bags into the house and up the stairs because my kitchen is on the second floor. It's great exercise but I'm not supposed to be carrying anything. Oh well. By the time I finished all of this I was STARVING!!! I ripped into anything I could get. Luckily, I still had some popcorn left from last night. I wolfed that down. I'm surprised I didn't choke. Then with one hand still in the bowl, I reached for a hot dog and put it in the microwave. After I ate two salty things, I felt like I needed something sweet. The Turkey Hill Extreme Cookies & Cream was next on my radar. I took it out and grabbed a spoonful. No I didn't get a bowl.
Then I stopped. What was I doing? I put the ice cream back, heated up some tea, grabbed a serving a grapes and reeled it back in.
Later on, I took Kina to her skating lessons. She did very well. Her behavior was much better than last time. She had a blast and can't wait to go again next week. Nope, I didn't get on skates again. My sister (her mom) came with us. I tried to get her to skate with Kina, but that didn't work, either. Next week we both promised her we'd skate with her. We'll see.
Well, it's WAY past my bedtime. Talk to you tomorrow.

I'm still recovering from my busy day yesterday. Some days I overbook myself and spread myself too thin. Yesterday was one of them.
I closed out my storage unit (finally). I was holding stuff for my M-I-L when she moved here. So after we cleared it out, we took it to her apartment. Up three floors at least ten times. WHEW!
I took my dad to the doctor for a medical emergency. He's okay.
Then I took Kina to Walmart to get her eyeglasses tightened. And I bought hubby his Valentine's Day gift while I was there.
The plumber came and installed the toilet. My next project will be removing the painted over wallpaper. UGH!
(Check out the 70s wallpaper. There's green and orange paisley under all that paint. I've got work to do!)
I didn't exercise yesterday. But today I did a few yoga moves on the Wii-Fit. Today it's more important that I rest.
Tomorrow I have an appointment at the lab for some blood work. Yeah, the bloodwork that was scheduled back in November. Really?
After the appointment, I'll stop at Costco and pick up some healthy foods and water in bulk. The gym is right across the street, so I'll get my workout in.
For now: some rest, a heating pad for my back, a cup of tea, a book and my sock that I'm knitting. It's all good.
Enjoy your evening,
