Need my Chocolate!!!

Thursday, September 06, 2012

I am trying something a little different to break my plateau and it seems to be working. I am eating no white bread....well, no flour at all. I am trying to stay away from Gluten as much as possible, too. I am also trying to keep my carbs low on the days I do not exercise at the university. It seems to be working....slowly but surely. But, boy do I miss my chocolate.

Today in the email we got something from Chef Meg in our email. It was a recipe for Stepf's BEST Choco-Almond Butter. I have been eating Almonds or Cashews as a snack and they are getting truly boring. Then I got to thinking after reading that recipe, why not just cover them with chocolate? The nutritional data would be about the same. So I tried it. And I got a recipe using the same ingredients and just covering the nuts with the chocolate and I got 10 nuts to a serving for about the same nutritional values! And ten chocolate covered almonds is a pretty good sized serving. I can stretch that out over a whole afternoon or evening. And I get my chocolate, too!!!!

Let me know what you think.

That recipe looks delicious! I'll have to give it a try--I also just can't seem to go without chocolate for too long, so I try to just stick in moderation instead :)

    Yum!
That's what I think.

I bought a package of almonds, covered in cocoa powder. Love them, but can't remember where I bought them. All my regulars stores do not sell them. Since I can't find them, I only eat 2 or 3 at a time, so I can make them last.

DUH, never thought of making my own ~ lol!

I allow myself to have a small piece of chocolate every day. It's good for you. You can buy sugar free chocolate. Make sure it's dark chocolate. The higher the cacao amount the healthier. I do recommend avoiding bread and four.

Chocolate in small amounts is good for you, and there is nothing wrong with giving yourself a treat. If this works for you, there is nothing wrong with it. I allow myself a ice cream bar at the end of the day if I've kept on my plan and it is within my calorie range.

Trivia Questions are hard!!!

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

There goes my good trivia trophy right down the drain. They must be really trying to get some new questions that are really hard. I looked for over an hour to find the answer about how much sunlight we needed to get enough vitamin D and couldn't find a right answer....I got it wrong. There were two more just like that. The one about getting enough sleep....I thought we are suppose to get 8 hours of sleep!!!! The answer was 6?!?!?! Hmmm, don't make me change boats in the middle of the river. Some of the questions are so tricky, too.

Does any one else have as much trouble with them as I do?

I have a hard time with them too! I thought 8 was correct too, and got it wrong.
But I didnt' know we were allowed to look up the anwers...I thought it was what we knew at the time we did the trivia!

I'm a nurse and I agree that the trivia questions are often subject to interpretation.

I find the questions to be a bit hard sometimes too. No worries. As long as we are learning the answers as we go we will know for the next time.

How to Separate An Egg

Friday, August 24, 2012

I was sent this in an email and just had to share it with all of you. I would have never thought of it, but leave it to the ingenious Chinese to come up with a very simple way to separate eggs. I tried it and it is so easy and works every time.

Let me know if you have tried it and what you think of it.

Complaining about Spark People Web site changes

Monday, June 25, 2012

I've noticed some changes lately with the Spark People Points page.

On our food tracker we get more points...I can barely get the original 10.

On the exercise tracker we now combine aerobic with muscular. And it says that we get 1 point/5 minutes of exercise for a max of 24 per day. Well, today I posted a total of 240 minutes and it gave me a grand total of 6 points. Somebody sure can't do their math.

And I noticed the Appointment calendar is gone. I used that a lot. I really counted on the messages it sent me a day ahead for appointments or birthdays. I miss it a lot.

Is there a way we can reset the Take A Poll? I have answered every poll question there is and check back and occasionally see a new one but not often.

I'm really not here to see how many points I can get, but if that's what the goal is for the points page, I might as well get as many as I can.

I would still like to see more fitness information for disabled people. I do 90% of my activities in water. Is there anything else for disabled?

For more exercise, you might want to look into chair exercise. You can do almost anything in a chair--salsa dance, kickbox, weight train. And there is a chair exercise Spark team. emoticon

You cannot reset take a poll as they say it skews the results. People frequently request that they change this policy or add more polls.

I'm not sure about the disabled exercises.

I'm not crazy about changes either. I wish they would concentrate on the changes that people request instead of changing what already works.

WOW. I'm trying to imagine what our world would be like today if everyone was limber enough to do those dance moves. Incredible! (Sorry I wasn't there to see it.)

Yes, my mother was a teen in this era and she said there were dances every Friday and Saturday nite. Even if the guys could not dance the girls would dance with each other, much like clubs today.

I love and respect the 1950's for numerous reasons! emoticon

I guess this doesn't classify as a "sock hop" since they're all wearing shoes. Can you imagine how the guys would sweat in those suits? emoticon
