Getting ready for 100 mile wilderness hike! Hiked 3 days last week w/back pack. Increased weight to 20 lbs and did 4 mile hike yesterday. I need to get hiking partners and find 3 or 4 to join me on my grand adventure this fall.

Still figuring SP out. things have changed since I was active on here years ago. I don't see how to get 'mail' messages. I always have to try a couple times/ways to get to this 'blog' area. my first day logging exercises is all wrong--says I did 200 minutes or something ridiculous because I was trying to bring up the list of all my options and then check off what I did but that isn't how its done any more.

To get to SparkMail, it is under the Trackers drop down menu. If you have a new message, you can click 'new message' in the very top right hand of the start page. Near the logout.

To write a blog, I scroll down to Step Three and under Community Quick Links I choose Make a blog Entry.

I hope this is helpful!

Another AT hiker!

Thursday, March 06, 2014

I found out a friend's daughter from the Carolina's will be hiking the AT this fall and she will start in Maine in August. I am so excited! I told her to keep me posted and I hope to hike with her in August on a weekend or something.
Exercising going well, eating going better.

Maybe a group of us could see you both off it would be a blast. There is so much to do up there for a few days.
I have a Spark friend who has done it in separate parts but it is completed. A dear friend in her 90's was helping to clean. it up till she had a stroke abut a year ago.
She has done it 7 times. My next door neighbors sons has done. I am not as brave as I was in my youth rock climbing in England.
Our Nevada family might be here tomorrow so I have a lot to still do. HUGS
I hope you chat today. HIKERSAN just posted our leader. emoticon Pat in Augusta

Hike Hundred Mile Wilderness in September 2014!

Tuesday, March 04, 2014

I am slowly getting back into regular exercise with the hopes of doing a GIANT hiking and camping adventure this fall. I like to think I eat pretty healthy but since I've gained 29 to 30 pounds over the last three years there are more times than not that I haven't!
Did 15 big exercise ball routine. Ate well except for cookies co-worker shared in middle of the day.
Forgot I had meeting after work and didn't bring anything good for supper. :( I have peanutbutter and raisins in my drawer so I think I will have a few spoonfuls and a coffee before the meeting.

Your drawer needs some protein that has not as much fat as as PB. You need something crunchy I am being naughty but someone has to help you when you forget to stock up on crunchy satisfying things as well.
RYVITA or WASA is Great it keeps really well and it really goes great with PB with raisins craisins, dates and prunes. Good dried fruit. I know I would likely eat the lot. Laughing cow cheese or pull top tuna or salmon in very small cans.
HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon Pat in Augusta.

Exercising most mornings, got the wii out and starting to use that a little bit at night.
Decided i would avoid alcohol until my birthday, 3/25/12, and hope to have it only as an occassional choice as it was a daily habit until recently. { i would usually only have one lite beer in the evening but then i'd want coffee, then i'd want a cold beer again, or i'd want chips or crackers or something w/the beer, etc} I bought a blender and started making a glass of fresh juice each night--delish!! I almost didn't do it last night because of the mess {peeling an orange, apple, cutting out bad spots, etc} but it was still quick & easy and i was so glad i did. Its kind of thick. I like using my juicer for the harder fruits {apples, carrots, etc} but it can't do greens or 'thicker' stuff like bananas or avacados. I also like having more of the pulp from oranges, etc. I think i will use both appliances for a couple of weeks while i'm building this new habit/quick start.
I also changed the meal settings on here. I didn't realize it was set for vegetarian.
No big weightloss yet or great muscle/stamina improvements but i do have more energy and feel good about taking care of myself.

Thanks for the comment Outdoor Girl! I still like my juicer and will use the two of them for a little while. I also like putting fruit and vegis together.
I really like how alert i am feeling in the evenings now and i seem to be sleeping more soundly as well.
How long have u been making your own juices? What benefits are u getting from it?

I use to have a juicer and got rid of it. It was not giving me enough of the pulp which is very important.I was throwing that away.

I have been making veggie juice with my blender. It is so easy.
I use

6oz baby carrot's
2 stocks of celery cut into small pieces
3 tablespoons of med salsa
1 16.9 oz battle of water.

I put 1.5 cups of water in blender
then start adding carrot till they are blended
then I add the celery
and blend some more adding more water as I go
Then add the salsa and blend more and add the remanding water.

You can add more veggies of your choice also. There are times that I add different peppers if I have then and broccoli also.

If it is too thick as you are blending just add some more water to it.

Good luck.
