Reminder

Friday, February 08, 2013

I borrowed this off another spark page 6 years ago....I'm needing a reminder so I'm posting it here!

"Once film negatives are exposed to the light of day, they're ruined. In the same way, once you see your worries for what they are--self-inflicted doubts--their power disappears. If you give your doubts and fears too much development time, they'll take hold and start to color all of your thinking in a negative light. Pessimists have more health problems, are less productive, and are generally unhappier than optimists. People that don't worry as much spend more time coping with the realities of life and less time occupied with would-be problems. To get rid of worry, think more confidently. Know that you can handle anything that comes along. Know that with loss comes opportunity. Know that things generally have a way of working out. Stay out of that dark room and picture something better." emoticon

Chinese food

Thursday, February 07, 2013

Well I decided today that I was going to go ahead and get the Chinese food...I looked up how many calories it was going to be so I would know exactly what to order when I got there ....and I decided I was going to walk the 5 mile round trip to get it....when I woke up this morning for some reason I had a hard time making myself get out of bed...probably fear of messing up some how....I finally talked myself into getting on my treadmill so I could get my day started ...after being on there for 15 min...I was starting to feel better ....then I get a phone call from my husband letting me know he had just got a ticket in Nevada for being on his phone...that's all it took to make me start stressing out emoticon my heart was racing...I finally had to get off the treadmill to calm down...at which point I thought my whole day was going to be a disaster ... I was able to calm down get back on my treadmill finish my 34 minute walk. When I finished I weighed in at 200.6 which is 1 pound down....instead of being happy about my 1 pound I decided that I was going to skip breakfast .. go get my Chinese food and then come back home and weigh in before I ate it .. in hopes that some water weight would come off.... Long story short ...the scale said the exact same thing when I got home 200.6 and my "Fortune Cookie" said "Keep your expectations reasonable"
so I guess I've been told! emoticon

I'm craving.....

Thursday, February 07, 2013

Chinese food ... for about a week now...I keep going back and forth on whether or not it would be worth it.....the place I would really like to get it at .. I have no way of tracking so I have decided that Panda Express would be the better option...the Orange Chicken Chow mein bowl is 910 calories ...is it worth it emoticon I've been trying to rationalize how I can eat it without hurting my progress....and I was thinking about walking there to get it and then back home....I mapped it and it's not far enough... emoticon it's only 2 miles away so by the time I walk back home 4 miles....that's only 400+ calories that I would be burning ....I'm not sure if I wrote this blog to talk myself out of it or what?

Get the chinese. Fill Iup on veggies first. Like you would a salad at a steak house. Then eat 1/2 of the chinese. You won't want any more anyway. That is what I do with just about everything that I want. I don't ever feel deprived and can limit my intake without that feeling of OMG I have to finish it or I will be hungry!
Best of Luck!

LILYBELLE12 - emoticon for the suggestion....you don't happen to live near Salt Lake do you? emoticon I have spent the last week trying to make things (Chinese at home) and I guess I'm not a very good cook .. I need someone to teach me how...because I'm still craving it.

A couple other options would be buy the Panda Express at the Grocery Store Freezer section, and make it at home. Measure out the portion you want and save the rest for lunch and another meal later in the week. Or invite a friend and share. You can also look up some Chinese Recipes and modify them and make it at home. We make a lot of Chinese at Home. I keep some basic Chinese Condiments and spices at home to cook with like Chinese 5 Spice, Low Sodium Soy Sauce, Hoisin Sauce, Rice Vinegar, Sesame oil, ginger and Blackbean and Garlic Sauce. I find with just these few things, I can make quite a few different Chinese Dishes we enjoy. I usually use either Brown Rice or Multi Grain Rices, and we usually use fish or chicken though I have done some beef dishes. I always seem to have a variety of fresh and frozen vegetables on hand so it is very quick and easy.

I think eating half is good. Give away the other half or allow yourself to have it the next day. Chances are, that after you eat that first half, you will think it's not worth it. If you've been thinking about it this long, you should probably have it. Wait until after your weigh in, then have it and then behave until your next weigh in. Walk to and from the restaurant and do any other thing that will help you indulge in this craving and make it a success!

It was sort of like me and the pizza the other week. I was so excited to get it for dinner, I'd hardly eaten anything all day, then when I did eat it, I ended up eating much less because it wasn't all that.

Get it out of your system and move on, or you'll make up for this craving by eating too much of something else and still not be satisfied.

That's just my opinion. emoticon

The reason I am opting for the bowl is because it is one serving...so sharing it wouldn't work ...and the hubby's out of town. emoticon

I would get it and only eat half. That way you won't deprive yourself. Give the other half to your husband.

I believe if you want something you should get it. I stay on track all week long, but reward myself with something I am really craving at the end of the week. Its all about portion control, and I don't just gorge myself to death either. If I wanted it, I would go for it!

Weigh in days

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

For the last 5 weeks ... I have weighed in every morning, after exercise and evening ....what this has done has shown me that it is best for me to weigh in on Tuesdays and Thursdays after my morning workout ....if I'm going to show a loss for the week those are the 2 days I will most likely do so! emoticon With that said tomorrow morning is my last chance to show a loss this week and I really need to make the right activity and food choices.....right now I am at 16,206 steps and I have eaten 501 calories and it's 2:30 ish.... emoticon wish me luck!
