I have friends!

Thursday, November 10, 2011

So I'm really not the type that goes out and hangs with her friends kind of girl ... I really like my husband and If I have free time I want to be spending it with him! I still talk to and some times get together with the girls I grew up with from High School almost 20 years ago .... but, my best friend lives in Oregon emoticon We are sooooo much alike and get a long GREAT but, we have never lived close enough to each other to really ever do anything together .... we e-mail and talk on the phone but, we have only been able to hang out twice the entire time we have known each other..... Once in New York "that was awesome" and Once in California "that was Awesome to" .... we havent seen each other for almost 4 years now .... just email and phone calls emoticon I know if we lived close by we could keep each other healthy!!!! One time we both planned to do a 5k so that we could meet up for that but, it fell through.... I wish we could figure out a way to make it happen..... well now that I have made myself sad I am going to go do my workout!

Seasonal Depression and Anxiety

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Every year this time of year I get really bad anxiety and the only thing that help is working out everyday. I haven't always know this its something I have figured out over the last few years. This last week it has set in ... it feels early!

Anyways it's also the time of year that in the past I have lost I'm hoping that will happen. I'm ready to get on track ... I'm good with exercise (not strength training ) but, I'm good with cardio and water all I need to do is get myself to track! That's actually when I stopped being faithful to logging into Spark daily was in the middle of 2008 when I just got tried or tracking everyday and for some reason I still just dread doing it... not because I don't want to see what I'm eating but, because of the time that it takes.

Silly I know!!!! Anyways 2007 was the best year of my life because my weight loss helped me to be positive and by being positive it opened other doors.

Now whats behind door 2012? emoticon

The problem for me is the all or nothing mentality because I dont just track I make sure that I have enough fiber and not too much sodium and I also make sure my Carbs, Protein and Fat are at the right percentages. So writing it down doesnt work for me.... suck being so hard on myself!

Dreaded tracking, I feel ya! I found that if I just write down (rather than track on SP) I at least know what I've eaten....and now I've gotten so good at knowing calories that I can pretty much figure if I'm within range or not too. I can know if I had a good day or bad though with just knowing what I ate. If I ate halloween's usually not a great day because I can't just stop at ONE. I think it's the seasonal dumps too. Winter is just not my fav. Take it one step at a time though, you can do it!

Have you ever tried using a light to help with the seasonal anxiety? I don't know if it works for anxiety, but it works wonders with seasonal depression. It gives you a simulated natural light in the morning and is wonderful...I used one for about 5 years (I worked for a doctor who kept one in her office and I got there first so I used it). They are fairly expensive, but a lot of insurance companies will pay for it. Good luck!

WOW--that's amazing. I did a Goggle search on "Spark in People Magazine" and your name came up, from the article in 2008. I went to the two others, Thinnyminny has not been on Spark since March of 2009. It appears Fruityful hs regained all her weight, but is back on Spark and trying again, as you are. I have to admit, it's a little depressing to see that 2 of the 3 of you that were featured gained back the weight, and the third is missing from action. I reached my goal on April 15, 2011, and have actually lose another 12 pounds since then. But what hope is there for me to keep it off in the long term? Does anybody ever do that? I KNOW that I am risking my life if I gain it back, I'm already 60 years old, I simply don't have time to lose it again, and if I gain it back, I know I am shortening my life. I hope and pray that knowledge will keep my hands out of the cookie jar.
Good luck on your journey to get healthy again. I'll stay posted...
