Goals for February

Wednesday, February 06, 2008

-Waking up at 5:30 am daily
-Exercise Daily
-Eat within MY Calories ranges
-Drinking 5 cups Decaf Green Tea daily
-Eat 5 servings of fruit per day

If I get up at 5:30 I seem to get everything I need to get done in my day.
If I exercise daily I stay in my calories ranges better.
If I eat within my calorie ranges I seem to exercise daily.
If I drink 5 cups of green tea I don't seem to eat over my calorie ranges.
If I eat 5 servings of fruit I don't eat so many chips.

I SHOULD BE THE POSTER GIRL FOR BAKED LAYS!

ROFL - I have a friend in you if only for the Lay's connection! I am addicted to regular Lay's ... I am an addict, it's my vice. I love them. The first 10 chips are the best - esp with sour cream/Lipton onion dip. *raspberries* When I'm starving it's what I crave. So my trick is not to get to the starving point! Planning is an area where I need to plan for! lol

You are doing a great job!
I know what you mean about the potato chips. If I had to admit being addicted to any one food, it would have to be chips of any kind.
My husband and I used to buy the biggest bag (because buying more was cheaper) then we would proceed to eat the Whole bag. We have learned to curb that problem by going to Sam's or Wal-mart and buying the 30 or 50 count combo packages of single serving chips. Now we each just eat one 1 oz bag of chips with lunch and then stop, because the bag is empty. It does cost a little more, but not 1/10 as much as the medication cost for high blood pressure and diabetes because we are overweight.
This helps us to limit our portion control and calorie intake.

I know you can achieve all your goals. Just surrender your children to God and he will give you grace.

You and I are up at almost the same time. I'm up by 5:10 am as I have to be out the door to work by 6:15am. I find that getting up at that time in the morning actually allows me to accomplish more also. When I start my day off with exercise, my day just seems to go better.
Have an awesome day and keep moving forward.

3 things that are interfering with me reaching my goal and a possible solution for each.

Sunday, February 03, 2008

1- Being an adoptive parent
2- Having a food addiction
3- Money

Learning to not take it personal that your adopted children are always wishing they were somewhere else.

I suppose I could get counseling but, I would rather learning to replace my binges with fruit and veggie binging instead!

Money is a huge cause of anxiety for me. Even if I am doing well I worry about the future and the what ifs. Maybe I should start volunteering at a homeless shelter?

Mrs. Honeycomb, your children are just like many other teenagers. Whenever they don't get their way, they wish they were somewhere else. I can't tell you how many times I heard my sons say "so and so's mom does it like this or let's my friend do this. I wish I didn't live here." My fiancÚs daughter is past grown and she still says "I wish I didn't have to live here." My fiancÚ just tells her she doesn't, move. Your children probably will not appreciate what you have done until they have children of their own or until they have to live on their own. So yes, please learn not to take it personal.
I'm a worrier too. My fiancÚ always tell me that I spend so much time worrying about what may or may not happen that I can't take the time to enjoy what is happening.
Try not to worry so much. Maybe the food addiction is a result of the worrying.

I always had a "difficult relationship" with money, and about 10 years ago my hubby and I did some marriage counseling, which turned into "me" counseling :-). One of the BIG things I got out of it was learning to think about money differently. I wish I could remember the name of the book.

I also learned to deal with "boredom" (ongoing lesson...). I have a VERY difficult time sitting still, and we discovered I had a "fear of boredom" which is actually the #1 fear of most people. It makes people uncomfortable, so they feel like the have to "do". I know it is what drives me to eat MANY times - more often then stress or anxiety (which is usually tied to boredom and over thinking and not letting things go).

None of this may relate to you, but maybe by learning my struggles, you can see yourself in them, or find similiarities?

The kids - that's a tough one. I know you adopted them when they were older, and maybe they've forgotten what life was like before you took them in. I like what everyone else said - possibly finding a support group. Just to know you're not alone. Your girls are at a tough age, and you've had a lot of attention lately. They may be jealous.

I think the most important thing to remember is you can only do as much as you can do. You've done fantastic this year, and you've been so focused! Sometimes after a BIG running streak and great success we tend to sabotage ourselves. We start to look for faults.

Just keep going - don't give up!

You have accomplished so much girl!Keep that in mind.

Remember, kids don't know how special their parents really are until they aren't kids anymore. I know how tough it is, I have two step kids that will always think that I am NOT their mom. But when they are adults and succeeding in life (hopefully) they will remember that we helped them acheive that success and they will love us for it.

Money isn't everything even if it seems like it is and eventually everything works out. I can't tell you how many times I've attempted to create a budget.....OY!
Hang in there! You have so much to be proud and happy about!

Your kids love you, and one day they will appreciate everything you have done for them!! :) But yeah, a support group sounds like a great idea! are there any in your area?
make sure you're surrounded by healthy food - don't buy anything you know you shouldn't eat! and hopefully the binges will turn to healthy ones! :)
Good luck! and you know there's always support here if you need it!!! us bees love to support! :)
love you. Keep your chin up!

Don't worry so much about money. Go to the library and check out Dave Ramsey's book, "Total Money Make Over". If they don't have it in read any of his books, they are all great...he will teach you how to get the money thig under control and not worry about it anymore.

My kids are not adopted and I can't tell you how many times they have told us they hate us or that we are mean...they know we aren't so bad and if given thwe chance I doubt they'd trade us in for new parents. I think they ALL go thru that no matter what, I know I did as a kid too.

Food must be the hardest addiction since we can't quit it totally!

I got one of those emails this week where you answer questions - one of those "get to know you" type emails that you send out to all of your friends. One of the questions was "what is your greatest fears?" Most of my friends wrote spiders, mice, falling, etc... I wrote "financial ruin". I get so worried about money sometimes that I can't sleep. What is weird is that 2007 was our highest income ever and I don't even work outside the home. I am with you on the money and security issue.

Just wondering if there is a support group for adoptive parents in your area. You might find that helpful also.

I'm soooo jealous! But I'm even MORE jealous that you won a T-SHIRT! I had big plans last year for any t-shirt I won, but I never won! boohoo! I was going to get iron-on letters or something and put WATCH ME LOSE 100 IN '07 and then my sparkname, and wear it everytime I worked out. Good thing I didn't win one, because I would have had to cross off my name and put YOURS! :-)

Holiday Weight is gone!!!

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Holiday Weight is gone and I'm ready to move on. I am at 159 as of this morning which is a .6 loss for me since the Sunday before Christmas.

My goal for this year is to lose 37 more pounds this year.
I would like to lose 1 a week but, as long as I'm moving in the right direction I'm GREAT!

See ya next week,
Honeycomb
