Aunt Sherry

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

Yesterday my dear aunt passed away. She would have been 68 and on 8/13 and had diabetes and cancer. She was scheduled for brain surgery to remove a tumor on 8/19. Yesterday she had a siezure and massive heart attack.
I hadn't really seen her much since she got married but I remember hours playing cutouts with her . We also played horses where she was a palimino and I was a paint. We pranced around the neighborhood and jumped the bushes and whinnied. My first 2 wheeler was her old one. She was 4 years older than me.
She was the youngest of 7 children and my Mom is the oldest. All the other siblings also died of heart attacks or/and cancer. My Mom is 83 and still hanging in there.
I love and miss you Aunt Sherry.

I will NOT Quit Pledge!

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

"Today, I promise I will not quit.

I pledge that no matter, how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey.

I pledge to make a NEW START today, and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself.

I pledge to take control of myself, to stop making excuses, and stop blaming other people or situations.

I pledge to treat myself as I would my best friend, because that is who I am.

I pledge to stay in the race and to be a WINNER!

Starting Over

Saturday, May 26, 2012

I saw my doctor this week and he has been replacing two meals a day with atkins bars. He laughed and told me though I probably couldn't tell he has lost 30 lbs. I need something to work. I have been trying this since Thursday. So far, I can only tell you it produces a lot of gas!
I want to go to Arizona but at this weight I can't fit in one seat. I am using Spark to track my meals and am going back to the White Hawks.
When I lose 10% I am buying my ticket to Phoenix!

Murder In the Suburbs

Thursday, June 09, 2011

I belong to the Red Hat Mama's of St. Charles. Wednesday evening I received a call from one of my red hat sister's who started the conversation by telling me she had bad news. We were planning to go to the racetrack on Saturday so I thought she was calling to tell me she couldn't go. I never expected to be told of the murder of another of our fellow sister.

Audrey, while 81 was always ready for a good time. She was the one with the joke and ready smile. When I joined the Red hats she made me feel welcome. We have a meeting on Monday and it will be hard .
Here is an article from the Daily Chronicle by SARAH SUTSCHEK
MARENGO – Susan Bloom saw her 27-year-old son, who recently came back home to stay, sitting in the backyard.

Then Doran Bloom suddenly was gone. When she went looking for him, she came across squad cars at a nearby house in their upscale Marengo subdivision.

Her son was dead inside the home, and authorities say he killed the elderly couple who lived there and also stabbed their son.

The stabbing deaths of John “Jack” and Audrey Feldkamp were a random act of violence by a suspect with a history of mental health issues, police said Wednesday.

Scott Feldkamp, who survived the attack, was stabbed multiple times as he tried to defend his parents before retrieving a gun and shooting Bloom to death.

“I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense for people to be home and have someone enter without any particular motive and attempt to kill everybody in the house,” McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said.

John Feldkamp, 83, was found leaning against the locked front door of his home shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday. He was the owner of Harmony Real Estate in Marengo and former assessor and planning commissioner of Coral Township. His wife, Audrey Feldkamp, 81, was found in a nearby hallway, stabbed 14 times. She was flown to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where she was pronounced dead.

Scott Feldkamp, 54, who police said was visiting from Florida, also was stabbed multiple times in the torso. He was listed in fair condition Wednesday night at Sherman Hospital in Elgin with injuries that included a punctured lung.

Bloom died on the scene. He previously had rented an apartment in Woodstock, but within the past week or so had moved back into his parents’ home at 7757 Somerset Drive, about a quarter-mile from the Feldkamps’ home at 7580 Somerset.

Nygren said that Scott Feldkamp saw his father fighting with someone near the front door and thought his dad was being punched. He tried to help, but was stabbed with a folding knife that had a 4-inch blade.

Scott Feldkamp then broke free from the fight and ran to an upstairs bedroom to get a 9 mm pistol, but Bloom began stabbing Audrey Feldkamp in the meantime, Nygren said.

Leaning over an upstairs banister, Scott Feldkamp was able to shoot Bloom multiple times.

There were no signs of forced entry, although there was an unlocked service door to the garage and another unlocked door leading to the house, Nygren said. The house, which is next to Coral Woods Conservation Area, is barely visible from the street.

“We can find no motive for this,” Nygren said. “It appears to be a random incident of violence.”

Bloom’s father, Cliff Bloom, said his son was diagnosed with schizophrenia and that the family had been dealing with his mental health for 10 years.

He said he did not know of any issues between his son and the Feldkamps.

“The Feldkamps were our neighbors and our friends, and I feel just as bad for them as I do for the loss of my son,” Cliff Bloom said.

Bloom’s parents have been cooperating with the investigation and told police that Bloom had undergone treatment and was being medicated. They said he had episodes of rage.

Nygren said Scott Feldkamp had “absolute authority” to use deadly force to protect himself and his family.

“He killed a dangerous offender,” Nygren said.

It was unclear who owned the gun or whether it was registered.

Here is a picture of Audrey in her Red Hat finery.

For whatever reason this happened, the loss is mind-boggling, sad and hollow.
If you can get the address of Scott, I would love to send him a card, ,, if nothing else , Sparkers are there for one another,, but Scott needs any known support he can get.
Know that Audrey will always be with you red-hatters in spirit, ,,
a big hug to you dear.

Michelle, what a violent way to leave this earth! Do you live in Marengo? I graduated from Rockford H.S. and Rock Valley for my A.A. There used to be a meat market we went to for special occasions. So tragic for both families...and their friends and loved ones.

Michelle, again, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. It sounds like she enjoyed life fully and that you and the other ladies have many fond memories of her. They say that when an individual faces such circumstances that they may disassociate so that it is like they are watching the attack like it is a movie so that they protect themselves from the pain and hurt that is happening to them. The victim goes through the event once but the survivors may re-play this over and over. I hope that you and her other friends and family can heal from this event. emoticon Linda
