Day 7

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Today was the cardio-sculpt workout again.

I feel like certain exercises are getting easier but still have a long way to go.

Day 6

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Yesterday was a day of rest on the 28th day plan.

I also felt like I need a day to relax. A lot of my emails that I received yesterday was about taking time for yourself.

Day 5

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

I received this email from Devotions for Dieters on Monday. However, Monday and Tuesday were busy for me and I didn't get a chance to blog. My thoughts about the email is after the email. I hope you enjoy this also.

I did do the Cardio-Sculpt from the DVD and bowled Monday night. I am on a 2 person bowling team. With only 4 people on a set of lanes you are always getting up and down. There is not much time typically between shots. We bowl for almost 1 1/2 hours but I only count 30 minutes on the fitness tracker.

Matthew 5:11
'Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.'

Ken could hardly wait to get back to school. Peter had ridden him about his weight the entire year before. When Ken had vowed to lose weight over the summer, Pete had laughed at him. 'Fat boy, you can't keep away from food. You'll be back, big as a beach ball. Don't kid yourself!' Ken could hardly wait to make Pete eat those words. He had spent the entire summer as a Christian youth counselor at camp. The people there were so supportive of what he was trying to do. They had made it possible. Not only had they helped him lose weight, but they helped him show Peter just how wrong he could be!

Today's thought: I'm going to prove that there's more to me than my weight!

I liked this email because I believe we all can relate to the negative attitude that Ken received from others. I agree that we are more than our weight but the most important item I got out of this story is that he received support from the people at the Christian Camp that he went to that summer. It reminds me that we all need support to accomplish our goals. That is were Spark People comes in. We are all cheerleaders for others on this site. Thank you for all the encouragement that everyone gives me on this great site.

Day 4

Sunday, November 04, 2012

I did day 4 which was the Cardio Burst video again. I still had problems with the boxing section but I did seem to get the arms down a little better than I did on Thursday.

I did the video before I got ready for Church this morning.

It was interesting that the sermon today was about our walk with the Lord and how we need to change our lives. Our minister mentioned how we have a tendency to try and throw out everything from our old lives but not replacing it completely with the Lord. If we don't replace our old ways with the Lord's way, we will go back to the old ways and usually add additional sins.

This hit home to me with not just my Christian life but also with my Healthy life style. When we try to throw out all of our bad habits at once we get frustrated and feel like we are a failure. So the yo yo affect happens.

I realize that I need to do small steps and add to it. That is why I am doing just the 28 boot camp DVD consistently and drinking my water. If I have time I will add additional exercise in but I want to do all 28 days through this time.

It is like the Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 -- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. These are what we need to replace sin with but as my minister said that they are building blocks. You can not have one before the other. If you don't have love you won't find joy without joy there is no peace etc.

I hope you can make sense of what I am trying to say even if you are not religious I hope you understand that it is the small changes that adds up in the long run.

If you can't give up all soda at once, cutting back to just one a day. This is what I am doing and I notice that when I have been drinking more water and tea that the one glass of soda doesn't seem as satisfying as it use to be. I hope to eventually cut out all soda but I know it is one step at a time.

It just seemed that God was speaking to me today about changing my life one step at a time as I walk with Him. So I had to write about it.

Day 3

Saturday, November 03, 2012

Today is either a rest day or cross train for the 28 day boot camp schedule.

I did the Classic Kathy Smith Starting Out Aerobics Video. I did 15 minutes plus the warm up.

I like this video besides a great workout she shows close up of the foot movements to make it easier to get the routine downs. It is a little distracting however once you have gotten the steps down but not to much.

I also did day 3 of the Fit Firm and Fired Up Call on your core. Still having a little problem doing some of the pilates moves but it will get better the more that I do.

I love the encouragement on both of these videos and the reminders to breathe. Some videos I have done don't take into account that you may not be as flexible or as fit as the instructors. Both of these encourage you to keep going and if you are tired to just march in place until you get your breath back and join back in.

I think that is one reason I have failed at exercising in the past as I felt if I could not get the routine down or keep up that it was not for me.

But since joining Spark I realize that doing something everyday is better than not doing anything at all. Also the more you do something the better you will get at it.
