SP cracks me up!

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Yesterday's SP fitness email was entitled something along the lines of "tone your triceps while watching TV", and this is the exercise they showed!

Ummmm.... yeah. I always watch TV with my face smashed into the floor.
Don't you?

And today's SP recipe email was "Breakfast Lentils".... heaven help us! emoticon

Geez! I hate floor exercises anyway, so I'd really hate this!

LOL! I did not notice that! Just goes to show ya how closely I look at exercise suggestions from SP these days. That would've been a good one to post for April Fools Day. I DID, however, notice the breakfast lentils (because if there's anything to eat, I'm always right on it), and yeah, uh NO! What I find funny about SP is that half the time the banner ad across the top of my screen is for, get this, CUPCAKES! Well, it's a picture of cupcakes anyway. Really. Probably be a better idea to have those breakfast lentils up there. ;) Thanks for the laugh!

Maybe you are supposed to do that one while straddling your face on the tv? Seems like it would be painful - but you know what they say - no pain, no gain!

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to think that was hilarious. I thought about contacting SP about it, but was in such a tizzy yesterday I figured it wasn't worth it. So, just shook my head and went on.
Thanks for the link to your recipes! I'll be checking those out later!

HAh -- that's too funny. If I did that, my two cats would be walking all over me trying to figure out what they missed in the carpet that's worth sticking your nose in.

How not to be a **** to your fat friends

Friday, February 22, 2013

I just read areally good blog that I want to share with you all because I think we all need to be kinder to ourselves and others in the language that we use. The writer makes some very good points.

It was a fun read. When it comes right down to it, most people just can't deal with fat. Even other fat people. I love - in a real petty, vengeful way - to tell people that I run (which I do, very slowly, and I finished 4 5Ks last year, running all the way through) - and wait for them to formulate a reply that doesn't tip off the incredibly difficult time they're having reconciling my size with my ability to move. I appreciate people who just honestly blurt out, "You run?"

While I'm tired of being fat and the limitations that go with it, I'm also tired of being embarrassed about it. I'm working on it. I know "skinny" people who never work on it - and they're in terrible shape, too.

We all need a break from judging. We're all in this together whether we like it or not.

Ya know, I've noticed that I am a lot more comfortable with my weight than my friends are. And than most people are, like say, in Lane Bryants or wherever. I can say something like, "I'm too fat to sit there, it hurts my tummy to squeeze in there" and ppl get all upset and act like I'm dissing myself when actually I'm just saying, well, that I'm too fat and it hurts me to squeeze in there lol

But those skinny (well, not OBESE) ppl who say they feel fat, like in that article, well they prolly do feel fat. Our culture is so screwed up.

Anyway, thanks for sharing it, it was cool to read.

Scars are beautiful too

Sunday, February 17, 2013

One of my friends has written a truly wonderful poem about scars and their unique message, and I would like to share it with my SparkFriends.

Poem- This You Will Remember

My scars are all memories
I touch them like a sacred time machine
This finger knows the boiling water
that shattered the glass in my hand
The one next to it remembers the fight
I had with my husband
while I was trimming back the mint

Get off the scale!

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

by Steve Maraboli
[Author of ďLife, the Truth, & Being FreeĒ]

"You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

Itís true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. Thatís it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Donít give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!"
