A little over 6 months ago I completed my last chemo treatment and had one last surgery. To say I fell into a depression is putting it lightly. Thanks to a wonderful neighbor who pushed me into the right direction (Zumba) I am in total remission, body and mind!

The cancer wasn't what was holding me back from getting into shape, it was my fear and anger at what happened to me! We can either throw ourselves a pity party about life and how it has done us wrong or we can kick it to the curb!

Think about what is holding you back from achieving your goals!

I have started shopping at a local fruit market before doing my weekly shopping. I now load up on as many different veggies that I can to incorporate into my meals. It is exciting to try new vegetables and even better add them to existing recipes. Thankfully my spouse is open to trying new recipes. This has given me a better attitude in tackling dinner and ultimately its healthier and that is what this process all about!

    The closest farm stand to me is too far to get to often. I'm spoiled by home grown tomatoes, but mine stopped producing. woe. I saw an article about eating the tops of veg's - radish leaves, celery, beets, seems like just about all of them should be added to salads. Nice, huh?

Bucket List

I have been reflecting on the last 6 months and came to the conclusion that we are always going to have stressful situations come up. It is how we handle then that count. In January I was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully I am cancer free today and more than ever realize how important a healthy lifestyle counts. I am currently recovering from my 4th surgery and hope last, when the idea of making my bucket list came up.

On my list first and foremost is getting and staying healthy. Oh I have fun things on it too, one of which is a walk across Mackinaw Bridge next Labor day and trips with my husband and enjoying my grand-kids, etc.

Thinks about what counts in your life and the think about how much easier those events will be when you are feeling healthier! You may want to start your own bucket list. Good luck my friends!

    Bucket list is an old, but Good idea. I'll start thinking about items for mine. #1) slender forever more. Pretty anemic sounding, but oh what a struggle it has been and is. 2) Visit my step children's new home. 3) I love my existence (except the pain) so much, that I can't think of anything better, plus having my family here more often. #4 Blasting myself out of my cosy nest to go to church, music group etc.

80 years old, and loving my life.

    We did this recently at work as part of a wellness activity. The idea was, it wasn't all to be for items that would cost a lot of money such as wanting to visit remote and exotic travel destinations. We had to come up with 10 items which I actually found quite difficult. But once I made it more like fun tasks, or perhaps gave myself permission to take the time for wellness, it was a good summary. One of mine is scrapbooking hundreds of family photos. Our children are grown and I am just now organizing, cataloguing, and scanning their pictures so that they will know all the stories once they are older and more interested :o). It is very time consuming but an antique-dealer friend of mine says I am making memories, which is a nice slant on it.

Commitment

Im sure we all know someone who has commitment phobias. One particular friend comes to mind, whos looking for someone to grow old with and share memories. Until he can make a commitment to do so his dream is only that.

This is much like the situation we are facing, until we make the commitment to make life long changes and stick to them, our goals and dreams are just that.

I have made the commitment and struggle everyday to keep it. Thats alright though, make the plan and stick to it. Dont end up like the commitment phoebes that live their life thinking if only I..

Making Lemonade!

Not literally...but figuratively. A few months ago my whole world was rocked when I found out I had two different forms of cancer. The doctors believe they got it all but have me undergoing chemotherapy.

My last blog was up beat announcing another grandchild on the way and then this. Well I am tougher than this disease and plan to watch this newest addition grow along with my other beautiful gifts from God!

This is all the more reason to stay focused and use these wonderful resources to get and stay healthy!

So I was given lemons but decided to make lemonade!
