This morning I got up early at 6 A.M. because I had an appointment at the Webster Grove Animal Hospital in Webster Grove, Missouri to take two of my chinchillas to have their teeth worked on. Blocker has to have her molars trimmed and has to be anesthetized to have it done. Bun needs her incisors trimmed. I got my son up early so that he could help me get their/my water, snacks, papers, loaded in the car plus both of them coaxed into their pet carriers and into the car. No small feat. I always leave an hour early as I never know what the traffic will be like or if there will be delays from wrecks and such. I had just gotten the car loaded and was ready to leave when the phone rang. It was the animal hospital calling to cancel my appointment. The vet has a sick child and they wanted me to come in at 5. I did that before and I am NEVER driving in St. Louis again in rush hour after dark so I told them no. They seemed pretty shocked but, like I told them, I have a 2 hours drive over there and 2 hours back plus the waiting time which can be extensive and am not wanting to do this at night again like the last time I did it. That is why I make appointments so I don't have to risk my life to get my pets taken care of. So I am back to square one.
My son was supposed to work from 12 until 7 tonight. He seldom gets to work days any more unless it's Sunday and his place of business only work days on Sunday. LOL. He works one other day a week. He loves his job though and has a great boss. The other assistant manager had an emergency so he didn't get off at 7. He just called and will be working overtime and has to be back tomorrow to open. So he is working a 9.5 hour day with less than 12 hours off. They don't get paid for working overtime. When I was head nurse I encountered people who always had emergencies when they worked the weekends or late shifts and I always wonder when I hear this happening if it isn't the same deal. Suspicious minds. LOL. Of course I fired these people. Yep, I was that kind of boss.
Hubby is still working hard on getting the estate settled and is getting a lot done. We can't wait for this to be over with and to say good bye to a bunch of negative whiny people. There are some people you can never please no matter what you do for them and my policy is to weed them out of my life ASAP. We are blessed to have a lot of support from my family, my online friends, our local friends, our MIL's friends and neighbors, and our attorney and his staff. They have been our port in a storm.
