A Job Well Done

Monday, June 08, 2009

I managed to accomplish everything I wanted to today. I was miserable sometimes but I got through it. Hubby is doing fairly well too. Hopefully his boss won't work him too hard.

I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep because I'm really sore. I want to wake up refreshed, upbeat, fun, and funny for my son. It's my natural mood but it is sometimes hard when you are in pain. I will eat off plan tomorrow because it's his day and I won't fret about it.

I was at the upper limits of my calories today. Every time I try to get in some of the healthy foods I am missing out on I seem to hover near the top. I don't like it. I got in more fiber and my dairy though. LOL.

Well, I have a load of laundry to hang and a sick chinchilla to syringe feed so I better get busy.

Hope your son had a happy birthday! I just keep thinking it must be a hoot for him watching his two gimpy parents limping around the house! I think it's safe to say there was a lesson to be learned here.

In all seriousness, I'm really glad you're on the mend. The sciatica is more than enough to deal with. Hope your furry friend is doing better!

I don't know .. I think lifting a truck bed over & over & over probably put you over your workout goals (laugh). Good for you for not fretting about going 'off plan' for one day. This is a special day, and you'll be back & strong (& hopefully less sore) tomorrow.

Have a really fun day!

On The Mend

Sunday, June 07, 2009

Hubby and I are both doing better today. We both have less pain and are moving around easier.

I have vowed to be HEALED by Tuesday. It's my son's birthday and I won't ruin it for him. He is eagerly making plans and I will carry them through no matter what. Bite the bullet. Grin and bear it.

Tomorrow we have to clean 6 pet cages, clean the bathroom, and vacuum so I hope I'm up for it. LOL. I think I can, I think can, I think I can, I can. The power of positive thinking. LOL.

I hope the truck is in better shape than you two are! LOL Glad to hear you're on the mend. Hopefully you'll both be better son.

(The next time hubby comes up with a bright idea, run the other way!)

Good to hear you feel better! Good luck with your cleaning. We have lots of small critters too. Cleaning out the cages can be a lot of work! But its so nice when they are all done.

Lessons In Life

Myth - 2 men and a woman can lift a truck bed off a pickup truck without injury.

My husband was told that 4 men could do this feat and for some idiotic reason HE decided that the 3 of us would be sufficient. SIGH!!! Fuzzy math. I know we are overweight but not big enough to make up for another person!!!!

Yes, we actually lifted the bed off and back and we would have only had to move the bed off and back once but HE didn't get everything done HE wanted to the first time so we ended up moving it back and forth 4 times total.

And, yes, 2 of us were injured.

My son is okay and is charge of our "elderly nursing care center" now. LOL. Hubby is in a back brace. I'm walking with a cane.

I told hubby that if HE ever suggested something like this again I'll be beating him to death with the cane. My son is backing me up in case my back injury and sciatica keep me from battering my hubby sufficiently.

Of course, I'm still getting in my 2 hours of exercise every day. My 12,500 steps. I'm sure the neighbors think I'm insane. Look at that poor woman crawling on the ground like a lizard. LOL.

Please, no lectures. I'm a nurse. You can't possibly tell me anything I don't already know. Most of you would not understand, except for my MD and Maria.

I'm the world's worst patient. I can't lay in bed. There is plenty of time to lay down when I'm dead. LOL.

Oh My! You did a Hulk move. The things our men talk us into! Time to be a 'girlie' for a while, until you heal.

I love the 'beat him to death with my cane'... I''m going to file that line!

Ice Ice Baby (for those sores)

Challenges

Friday, June 05, 2009

I haven't checked in for a while so I thought I would.

I'm not doing too bad on my diet and with my exercises considering the challenges I have been facing.

To make a long story short, I have sciatica.

Enough said. LOL.

Morticia, sis we are so very much alike,I do suffer from it also, it is really painful, a pulsing pain which circulates from lower back , knees , legs and foot.

In my case I always know which move I made , that triggered it. So as times passes , each time i am getting better knowledge of what triggers them and try to avoid them, usually a brisk movement....

It is very important a bit of stretching , and warm up before doing anything.

I usually make a infusion or decoction of Harpagofito, which is a natural anti inflammatory plant and have stopped taking pharmacies anti inflammatories.
A warm bath also helps, but I don't have patience for it.

Spinning My Wheels

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Today I got to stay home all day and had a lot of time to be online. I had hoped to get a lot done as I am really behind on emails. I had 120+ in my yahoo account and 250 in my home account. I haven't even checked my google account.

I have spent most of the day working on them and not put much of a dent in them. Yahoo is as slow as molasses. sigh.

This seems to be a recurrent problem with me . I work and work and work and get nowhere. LOL.

I found my email box was starting to control me. I delete a lot without reading now if I know its just a joke or not important stuff. My family knows now to put important in the memo so I will read it. Too many jokes and silly things I dont have time for. Its almost as bad as junk mail isnt it?

Wow, Morticia, that is a huge amount ! This is stressful, I have eliminated all my informative subscriptions , and replace them by RSS, it is much more comfortable and they get actualized with out alert through e-mail.

Presently I only receive e-mails from Spark, and a few more, with my friends I communicate through skype.

Good luck!

Isn't it amazing how the 'convenience' of email can easily bury us and become a chore! It wasn't long ago that I got off most of the lists I was on, and even stopped my blog because I was being buried. I stopped responding (reading) most forwarded emails as well. I told my friends, "email can't own me." When I went away for a week and refused to take my laptop, I came home to an avalanche. I hit 'delete' on most of it. It was incredibly freeing! Best of luck with YOUR mountain!

Was there a payoff for all the email you got through? At the risk of being something you unscubscribe to, maybe you need fewer subscriptions?
