500 calories burned

I hit the magic number this morning. I don't think I've ever done this before. I have burned 500 calories before 8 a.m. Part of my workout today was high impact and part was low-impact (I use exercise shows on Discovery Channel for exercise). I figured I did about 20 minutes of high impact, 25 minutes of low impact. That should be about right. Then, since I don't have kids to escort around today to music lessons or driver's ed, I walked the short distance to work. That ten-minute walk put me at 500 calories expended already today. Well, it will when I walk home for lunch in a few hours!

I've been walking in the evenings, too. I hope I have good things to report from the scales tomorrow a.m.

Glad to see my team members are becoming more active. For awhile there several people who had been pretty active dropped out of sight. They are beginning to post again now.


Weekend report

I exercised a little bit Saturday and Sunday, but only 30 minutes each day. My eating was somewhat more under control I think, but I still probably ate too much considering the calories I was expending. At least I didn't make brownies this weekend! It was kind of a so-so weekend I think.

I did pass up the bakery goodies brought into work this morning. I'm not particularly hungry at the moment and I had a small-ish breakfast. Brought my lunch today because I'll be running errands over the noon hour. No IDEA what to have for supper tonight--chicken? I wish someone else would decide this for me. Truly I do.

I'm just kind of bobbin' along. Not really inspired at the moment, but more or less sticking with the routine. I get this way when I have a gain. A loss really fires me up and keeps me going. So I'm going through the motions right now. One thing that was inspiring is that I can now easily fit through the door that goes to sun porch. The air conditioner sticks out and the door can't be fully opened up. Last year I just barely fit through that door, now its no problem!

    Funny, the milestones we set for ourselves, isn't it? Not always what we expect. Well, I'm back - and as of today, things seem to be heading in the right direction again. Maybe. Yeah, they are. They are - and they'll keep right on heading that way. Got off track there, for a while, but ... ::grabs your hand and starts marching towards our goals:: See? Just right there on the horizon. See them?

I was surprised when I lost a pound last week but I'm even more surprised that I gained 2.5 pounds this week! It's clear to me (again) that I have to log every blessed bite I eat or I overeat. I didn't log my food last weekend and it was a long weekend for me and THIS is what happens! That, and a pan of disgustingly rich brownies happened. Can you say "fat, sugar and empty calories"?

The exercise is going well since I conquered the strep throat of last week--that's a plus. I'll try to keep that up and keep logging the food so I don't have a repeat of last weekend.

Plugging along

I haven't written for a while, but not much to report. I'm just plugging along. Doing OK with eating I think. It's sure nice to have more fresh fruits and veggies available. It will be a little while longer before the local stuff is ready. With the kids home for the summer the grocery bill has gone up--way up! But they get the junk food eaten up before I'm too tempted by it.

Exercise is going well, too. I forget how much easier it is to break a sweat now that its warmer. I'm a slimeball now when I step into the shower. In the wintertime when the house is only heated to the mid-60's in the early morning it is hard to get sweaty. Not an issue anymore!

I'm back to my normal healthy self again. Still on antibiotics for a few more days, but I'm to the point now where I forget to take them. So far, no one else in the family is showing signs of strep throat so I guess I've kept it safely to myself.

I started exercising again on Saturday. Went on an early morning walk with my 14-year-old. She ASKED to go with me. "Wake me up, Mom, so I can walk with you." And she leapt out of bed at 6:00 a.m. to go. I was amazed. Sunday I didn't exercise until mid-afternoon when I had the house to myself and did a hard cardio work-out. Yesterday morning I walked again since my living room floor was being used for a sleep-over. I even RAN a couple of times. Not far, maybe 100 yards each time, but I ran. Amazing. Today, I had my living room floor back so I did some kick-boxing and then some low-impact aerobics and got my crunches in for the first time in nearly a week.

Bought groceries yesterday and stocked up on fresh fruits and veggies. I hope I can get them eaten while they are still good!
