Experiment is going well

Friday, December 14, 2007

Not logging my food continues, and it is going well. I'm down another half pound this week. This probably has more to do with my period ending than anything else. I've eaten more than my share of Chex Mix and cookie dough this week, and let's not forget the Quarter pounds (with cheese!) and the large fries I ate in the car on the way home from shopping just the other day. Damn, those fries were GOOD. I hadn't had McDonald's fries in months. Right now I'm craving anything salty, and usually I'm a sweets girl.

So what am I doing right? Exercise. And on the weekends when I tend to sleep in and not exercise I'm out scooping snow, cleaning house, carrying laundry upstairs, etc. And its cold. I think I just naturally need to burn more calories to stay warm right now. Maybe that's why I don't lose weight in the summer time?

Anyway, no one is more shocked than me about this week's weigh-in. This ties my lowest weight ever, which coincidentally I reached right before T'giving.

Last time I lost weight at Thanksgiving, I later learned I was pregnant. ;)

Just teasin' ya. Don't you think it's time for a new picture? ((hugs)) Thanks for the encouragement, and the reminder of the importance of exercise.

I learned, yesterday, that the pain in my foot is a "Morton's Neuroma." And that I have a "fault" in the bone at the top of my foot, and in compensating for the discomfort, I've actually curved one of the bones upward! (I didn't think it hurt THAT bad!) Basically, I have some pretty significant arthritic changes in my foot. I could use that as an excuse not to exercise...

Or I could just suck it up and deal. I mean, maybe the treadmill's not too comfy, but the weights? I don't think my foot's an excuse, do you?

Not logging food--experiment

Saturday, December 08, 2007

So I'm in the midst of this experiment where I am not logging my food or drink. After a year on SP I should be able to keep a pretty good handle on what is going into my mouth, right? Well, maybe. So far it is going OK, not great. Last week I was down almost a pound, this week I was down just the littlest fraction my scales can measure, but it was down. I have been keeping up on the exercise. I put in some time today since I missed last Tuesday.

I have so far avoided the stomach bug going through the family. My younger daughter has been home from school for two days with a stomach ache, but no other symptoms. She was starting to feel better yesterday.

I think the biggest saving grace in terms of weight loss is that my driveway is encased in ice. I try to go out everyday and chip away at it. This is hard work since its about two inches thick. We need sun, but instead we get snow. T'is the season.

No exercise today

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

My oldest daughter was up in the night threatening to throw up, so when I got her settled and reasonably comfortable at 4:50 a.m., I feel asleep beside her and slept until it was time to take a shower. I haven't not exercised on a weekday morning in a long time unless it was a holiday or I had to go in extremely early or something like that.

So I'm feeling kind of fuzzy from lack of sleep. Most of my coworkers are either sick or on vacation, my daughter is checking in by phone every half hour, so I'm getting way more bathroom details than is really good to consider while one is at work. IF she's better by tomorrow, will it be me or daughter #2 who is sick by Thursday? I'm gonna go wash my hands again.

Oh yeah, I'm back

Sunday, December 02, 2007

As of yesterday, I was back to the 170's. Just barely, but there nevertheless. And I've done this without logging any food for over a week. I'm glad its there when I need it, but it is an enormous PITA for me to do the logging. If I ate out all the time it would be much easier to figure out calories...or if I had access to some of those name brands. Don't get me started. No Trader Joe's in the whole friggin' state! It's not right, I tell ya!

I digress. As long as I'm staying fairly steady or losing with logging every bite, I'll continue this way.

Just under a pound to get back to my lowest low of 178.8. Then I'll be plowing fresh ground again.

Coping

Friday, November 30, 2007

My weigh-in today went better than I thought. Yes, I was up from my last "official" weigh-in, the one I logged on SP, but I was down from when I weighed myself right before Thanksgiving.

Between Nov. 16 and 21 I gained nearly 3 pounds! I've got to learn to quit celebrating my nice losses by allowing myself to eat more. Duh! So after two Thanksgivings and a night of bunco earlier this week I am back down a pound a half or so. Another pound a half and I'll be back to my low weight and back into the 170's again.

I've really been watching it this week and exercising pretty hard. I'm glad my transgressions are coming off. I don't see too many obstacles coming up next week, so I hope to see 179 again very soon.
