what the....?

Saturday, January 07, 2012

I have been hungry all day. Not just the "I want something" pick at this or that but stomach growling, churning I need to eat something NOW. What the H&^%!!. I'm not used to actually being hungry, and typically when I am it's becasue I've "forgotten" to eat and way past time for a meal. Today, however, after just 2 or 3 hrs, post meal, my stomach is back to growling etc. Not comfortable. Hope I can sleep tonight.

There is really no reason to be HUNGRY if you are on low carb. Have some protein. One time I STOPPED losing weight even though I was following a plan. Another Sparker pointed out that I wasn't eating ENOUGH! Enjoy!

I get days like that. Your body needs more calories on some days. Many times it is hormonal. If it's growling - feed it something healthy. Hungry days and less hungry days average out. emoticon

Friday

Friday, January 06, 2012

Well, yesterday's meals made up for the "calorie deficit" of the past few. Interestingly enough, although it seems very high to me, it's still within what the calorie figureing thing said. The only thing I went over in was the carbs. No surprise there. Comfort food.
Today I started out a bit different by adding onion, green pepper and a pinch of shredded cheese to breakfast which upped the calorie content a bit.

So, today is a new day. A chance to learn, a chance to do something different.

Ok, so I'm attempting to edit my nutrition tracker. Nothing. won't let me. Not happy.
Also, for my total calories for today so far it comes to 459. That's breakfast and lunch. Now, I know that supper will be higher. Husband likes meat and potatoes "full meal deal" so, since I'm home, I cook. Haven't actually decided WHAT to cook yet, but since I have to go grocery shopping I guess I'll figure it out. But, at this point in the day my calorie count should be much higher. Not sure how I'm gonna deal with this "increasing my calorie thing".

Due to health issues my calories are always low but I try to eat five or six mini meals a day. One large meal really messes with my blood sugars but the mini meals keep me from getting tired mid day or mid afternoon and keeps my blood sugars from spiking or dropping too low.
The tracker was working for me this evening...hope it finally worked for you.

Try eating smaller meals throughout the day... Maybe mid morning some hard boiled eggs, in the mid afternoon try a "good Quality" protein bar like the Balance Bar or Zone Bar !! Good sources of protein and lower in carbs..

That way you will be feeding your body every 3-4 hours and you won't be trying to get all your calories in at dinner time plus you'll be less hungry !!

Take two steps back and.......

Thursday, January 05, 2012

Well. I just went on site that takes your ht, wt, exercise and age. Plugged those in and what I got back came as rather a surprise. I also did the BMR calculation. What I found out is........apparently I don't eat enough. The BMR came in at 1884 cals. That assumes I never get out of bed. That's what my body needs to survive, not even thrive. To maintain my wt. I'm supposed to eat about 2261 cals. Two pounds a week loss=2240. So, I can only conclude, since I generally eat between 1600 and 1800 cals/day that my body is in "starvation mode". I guess I need to figure out a way to increase the calories in the right way to promote wt loss.
The problem is......I eat three meals a day. (worked very hard to teach myself to eat breakfast every day). I have a snack at night (I try to make it a good one). I'm not sure what else to add!!
I can only hope that with more consistant exercise, I will be hungrier and it will become easier.

BRRRRRRRRR

Baby, it's cold outside! Having lived in Fl for the past 7 years, I find this weather not very tolerable. Not just becasue I've become accostomed to warmer weather, but because I no longer have the clothing appropriate to deal with THIS weather! I wish going shopping could be the fix but, at the moment I'm not working. Hope one the three resume's I have submitted "out there" reaps at least an interview this week. Even the part time one would be good.

I live in northern Minnesota so cold winters are the norm here. This year has been actually warmer than normal with less snow and of course, less fuel for heating the house! Still, anything above zero in January is a blessing.

Hopefully this "cold" spell will pass through soon. Not just weather, but a job also. Will add you to my prayer list just for a little more support. emoticon
