Changes

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Of course every day there are changes but I was remembering my children's births over 50 years ago and how different it is now. Of course Rachel having her c-section right about now is what got me thinking about having babies. Now there is so much more inclusion of the families, expecially fathers, with the baby staying in the room. My Ex was only around for Gail and not particularly helpful telling the to be quiet so he could watch the woman across the hall kicking off her covers. I can't remeber who stayed with the two oldest while he was with me because we were in California away from family. I'm glad Rachel has so much support, maybe even overwhelming. I was usually alone most of the time and had no clue what was happening and was no good at asking for help. Evidently there is a TV program coming about premature babies and the US is one of the top countries with premies. Not that Aria is remotely that but did threaten several times before 37 weeks.

I am sure part of the reason we have more preemies is because we do so much to keep them alive....

Tomorrow's the Day

Monday, July 12, 2010

Aria will be born tomorrow by C-section if Rachel hasn't gone in by then. She's wanted to do it natural but had to have a C-section after awhile in labor with Isaac. He was over 8 pounds. A few weeks ago after a ultra-sound they had said Aria is 8-9 pounds then. Gail and I can't figure out why she gets such large babies because she's a tiny person and my family's females have had small ones. All four of my daughters were under 7 pounds, Rachel herself was 3 lbs 6 oz and Gail's other two were around 7. Lori's only son was 5 lbs 15 oz. Dawn's son was 8 and daughter in the 7 range. Anyway we are a little surprised. Isaac was bigger when born but had a digestion problem even though she breast fed him and quickly was under weight and height wise. He's still tiny for his age but really fast, co-ordinated, smart, and good looking. LOL. Everyone is pretty excited.

Maybe I should move to Eden Prairie. The past two shows have announced that money magazine named it the top city in the USA to live. Oh wait money magazine. I don't have money. LOL. It was based on livabilty.

Joined two different Spark teams

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Just when I was getting my time on SparkPeople a little under control I go and join two different Spark teams. One was in response to an e-mail that I clicked on and read-join Spark teams. I did that a month ago too. Then I join the 10 minutes a day exercise and yesterday I joined 28 day bootcamp. I also joined the St Paul team. I belong to the Minneapolis/St Paul team but I live in St Paul.

I didn't lose any weight trying to run with Isaac. My right thigh hurt like when I walk too fast. He is so high energy. My blood sugar and blood pressure seems to be fine with the discontinuing of all diabetes blood pressure drugs. The dizziness isn't totally gone though. I'd like to clear it up before I go flying in airplanes next month. Gail and Lindsay got up and left for the Bolleruds before I got up. I'm sure they promised Isaac they'd come see him today when he had to leave last night.

Run

Saturday, July 10, 2010

I was actually trying to run today. Not very fast but pumping my arms and moving my legs. Isaac was here and he never stops running. Lindsay came last night and she and Gail met Isaac and his parents at the Mall of America for a quick hi. Rachel dropped him off down by the Farmers Market where Lindsay and Gail had gone. The played in Mears park and ran some before they came back here. Isaac had gotten a toy snake at the Farmers Market and was pretty excited about that. Then they ran to Erbert & Gerbert's for lunch. Rachel met us there as she had met a friend at 10 for brunch. I ran on the one block with Isaac. He beats us all but me especially. He doesn't like me to get a head start either. They are talking about doing more this afternoon after naps. Not me. I'm worried about the trip to Boston then Vermont with these people. Isaac will wear me out the first day. Not that I'm carrying him like they do but I've been racing. LOL.

Over medicated

Friday, July 09, 2010

Bailey took me to the Dr today and he thinks my dizzyness etc, could be caused by taking too much medication. He thinks my blood pressure and blood sugars are running too low. So I'm supposed to stop taking the 1/2 pill I take, water and diabetic, for these two problems. Also stop the overactive bladder and cut back or stop the cholesteral. My A1C was 5.9 which is the lowest since I started tracking my blood sugars. He also said to start using the inhaler I have because the steroid in it lowers inflamation in the head and could help. I quit because it burns my nose and makes me sneeze. They took 11 vials of blood and when I complained they were taking all my blood she said she once took 32 from someone. How will I know which of my changes is the fixer because of course I'm being fixed. LOL

Then we went to Perkins and I was very careful not to buy get 3 cookies free when you buy 3. I wanted to. I brought half my food home and about 1/4 of Bailey's Belgian waffle with blueberries which I just ate for a late lunch.

Sometimes it does end up being the medication that causes more problems than it fixes. Seems like they might be changing too much at once because, like you said, how will you know which one does or doesn't work. But hopefully the doctor knows what you're doing. And then when they get the blood work back (11 vials! that's a lot), maybe they'll know more.

Boy hey really took a lot of meds away at once now didn't they----hope it works out well. Now, if you notice your blood sugars climbing, it may be from the steroid inhaler. But, maybe the inhalers don't cause the blood sugars to rise---but oral steroids can , just a little heads up in case al of a sudden you notice a jump in readings without changing tyour eating habits.
