Wet, rainy but enjoyable Senior Picnic & Cruise

They said it goes on rain or shine and it did rain. Gail said she would leave me a rain poncho so I thought I was covered. She wrote it on a piece of paper next to the refrigerator but I couldn't find it. I tried calling the contact person to see if I could catch a ride on the van but didn't. So I started walking. It rained pretty steady but the worst was over the Wabasha bridge it was blowing right into my face, covering my glasses and getting up my nose. I was totally soaked but didn't get too cold walking because I had a hooded sweatshirt on. My feet were totally soaked. As soon as I got there I asked the leader for a napkin to clean my glasses. It was inside the Pavilion and they had a nice fake fireplace that I think may have been putting out heat at one end. But did I sit there? No, although most places were taken. I sat at the other end closer to the door that blasted cold air in every time it opened. We played Bingo for awhile. There was coffee, lemonade, or water, I had water. Lots of prizes. I did win a box of cheetos crackers. There were 19 tables with 8 people at most tables. Lots of crazy old people that picnic in the rain. LOL. The food was fantastic. Broasted chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, fruit, bun, cookies and bars. Then they drew for door prizes which I didn't get any. Then a band my chorus leader is a part of played for 45 minutes. They've played at some of the parks etc. They work for mostly the city and state and some are retired. She said they practiced on their lunch hour so didn't use any of the tax payers money. Then we had a 90 minute cruise on the Betsey Paddleford boat on the Mississippi river. I had asked the driver of one of the vans if I could ride back on a van and he'd said they'd try and find a spot for me. It started raining again as the boat got back.

Need to refocus on my healthy Lifestyle

I was so focused on Lindsay's shower I kind of neglected the healthy living. So I'm going to make an effort to refocus. It doesn't help that tomorrow I have a Senior picnic at Harriet Island. Although the meal isn't really too bad, broasted chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, fruit, beverages, roll & butter. I would imagine it's serve yourself so I can pick the healthy and avoid the not so healthy or take tiny helpings. If it's in a box or something it will be harder. Bingo before and a cruise on one of Padelfor Packet Boats after lunch. I guess there's a 50% chance of rain but there's been possible rain most of the last week. I didn't get sunburned yesterday so hopefully I won't tomorrow.

Morgan is probably glad we are back to being normal. She was paranoid about Isaac and kept running any time he was near. Morgan needs exercise though. Both Gail and Bailey think she's gotten fatter. On Saturday night after Gail put Isaac down to sleep she put Morgan in my room so she wouldn't go in and accicently wake him up by jumping on the bed. She didn't want to shut her door so if Isaac woke up he could get the door open easily. I didn't know this so knocked on my bedroom door thinking someone must be in there. Then when I was ready to go in I had a cup of water plus another bottle of water in my hands I couldn't keep Morgan in. She probably thinks I kicked her but she ran into my feet and legs while trying to get out. Gail just caught her and put her back in. She usually stays in here with me but I guess she thought she was missing out on something.

At least I think it did. I hope Lindsay does. It was mostly my family. Two friends from Milwaukee drove her here so she'd have someone to be with on the way home so they were here too. I think she got a nice group of gifts and mostly from Crock & Barrel where she registered. She did mention that those going to Vermont for the wedding should consider having them sent to their home in Milwaukee. The games were the silly kind and everybody won something. Isaac was really good and so helpful throwing away garbage and wrapping paper. He got a little dirty playing in water before it dried up and cried when the second baloon he'd been playing with blew away.

Snickers died this morning around 9am but Dawn and her son's special friend Madaline did make it. The shower was at 11. They knew all week is was immenent.

The sleep-over wasn't as fun as planned. Rachel went to the emergency room again. This time for what she thought was an allergic reaction but is a pregnancy rash some women get in the 3rd trimester. I guess it really itches and her face was swollen. Benedril didn't help.

I'm really tired although I didn't do very much today. Gail has been busy cleaning everything up, even vacuuming. I told her Morgan will be freaked out vacuuming 3 out of the past 4 days.

Glad the bridal shower was a great time, and that Lindsay had a couple of her friends to ride from and to Milwaukee with. Sorry to hear Rachel needed to get to the ER and hasn't gotten any relief yet, hope she will be doing better by tomorrow. Ever since I took my shower this morning I've been busy and getting hot and sweaty so my shower probably has worn off. I got up, which is the hardest thing I do all day, cleaned the shower, took a shower, weighted myself, and got dressed. Then I came back into the bedroom and made the bed, Morgan was still in it until I got in the shower. So often I will go to the bathroom and come back to bed she wanted to make sure I was really up before getting off the bed. Wrote out the rent, paid the rent, mailed some things, recycled the newspapers and one water bottle Dawn left yesterday. Relized I'd forgotten my ATM card so went to the little store and cashed in 3 winners I'd had in the past 8-9 months and went back to my apartment and got my card. Put the checks from Gail for rent and Bailey for gift in the bank and got the mail, including a DVD from the Disney Club I've quit. By now I'm really sweaty so stop and eat lunch. Then I clean the litter boxes and my bathroom stool and take out the bathroom garbage. I ceaned up Morgan's eating area and vacummed both there and by the litter box, into my bedroom and up the hall. Now I'm sweaty again and Morgan is hiding under Gail's bed from the vacuum. I cleaned around the loveseat area where I sit all the time with my feet up. Then I took a box and put in the canning jars from things Gary and Lori brought and am ready to start taking tupperware down and putting in the box also.

Gail can get more done in a couple of hours than I can in a couple of weeks. She was vacuuming and all of a sudden I heard a bunch of the f word and banging around. Awhile later I asked if the vacuum upset her. I bought it so of course feel responsible for it. LOL. She said every time she uses it the belt breaks. Why does it even need a belt. I said that's a good reason to not vacuum. She did laugh about that. I hate when people get upset even when it's got nothing to do with me. She was waiting to hear from her daughters so she could go over to Rachels. It was Lindsay's birthday and she'd gotten a number of things to celebrate.

When Gail got home she thanked me for wrapping the gifts for the shower. Come to find out one of the gifts I thought was from me was from her.

The French open is on and I don't usually watch or follow tennis. They are talking about one of the players and how he's got blisters on his feet because he hasn't gone this far into the finals before. That would definitely be hard.

I used the green way of cleaning glass on my bathroom mirror, vinegar and water, wipe down with newspaper. I ended up getting some regular cleaner from the kitchen because it was smeary.
