Morgan is a smart kitty

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

I knew Morgan was a really smart kitty. How else would she get to be living with me. LOL. I knew she could get through most even slightly open doors but saw her in action yesterday. Of course pushing in is easy but this was a door she had to pull. Gail was taking a nap and about 5 I sneaked in to see if she wanted to eat. She didn't wake up but I shut the door almost all the way. I was sitting in the living room and cound see Morgan through the crack. She stuck her front paw through the door and it took a couple of pulls but got the door far enough open to get through.

I got a suggestion yesterday on my blog from one of my SparkFriends that I should add some mini goals on the tracker. Actually I did have a lot more but cut them when I was trying to cut time on here. The ones that really take the time are those that require a number input. A check mark is so much more efficient. I'm going to add some again.

Need More SMART Mini Goals

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

If I have more mini goals I can reward myself more when I reach them. LOL. I missed the one by my birthday, January 4h, by my band anniversary, March 26, and I have a way to go before my Granddaughter's wedding August 19th. That one doesn't meet the attainable or is it reasonable?, part of SMART. I do drink my water but have done that for years, get my fruits and veggies, sleep and exercise. My downfall seems to be those unexpected goodies that pop up like cookies at Passport Players. Someone brings a treat every week it seems and I don't want to hurt feelings or seem snobby. I have avoided the birthday cake and icecream and the ice cream floats at the Senior Center. I did rejoin the lose 5% of your weight Spring challenge after not making the Winter one. They are each 8 weeks long. I'm going to reach this one. I always think that. If I didn't why would I join?

For goals, here are the ones you put on your page:

* be positive while learning a new lifestyle of eating and exercise
* participate in things I wasn't able to
* have 2-3 meals of 1/2 cups (adjusting things a little)
* respond to one item in the teams I belong to daily

I don't know what a SMART goal is, so I may not being helpful. But if you're looking for smaller goals that fit your weight goal, you can put a reward on anything. Like loosing one lb. You've lost 90 lbs already! And you're close to your goal (41.4 lbs). Maybe focusing on something other than weight would help you?

You can enter special goals and track them using the "OTHER GOALS" tracker. Click on the button and then go down to "Other Goals" and you can enter anything there you want to track. I use that to track my self-care goal. Maybe you could set a goal of participating in Senior activities Xtimes/wk? Or specify to yourself what the exact adjustments of your meals are, and then track your consistency: 80% consistency? (can you really thrive on 2-3 1/2c meals?)

You know, you can reward yourself just for being you! You are a gift to me!

Snickers Update

Monday, May 17, 2010

I mentioned last Friday that my second daughter, Dawn, has 2 Bernese mountain dogs. Last week the Male Snickers got very sick. On Tuesday they diagnosed lymphoma and after testing at the U of M are sticking with the diagnoses. He got one treatment on Friday and is getting prednozone because a lymph node is swollen and pressing on his kidneys. He started eating yesterday and Dawn said his eyes have lost the pleading I'm dying look. Both dogs are 9 years old which evidently is pretty good for Bernese mountain dogs. They've been pretty healthy. Mercedes has arthritis and mobility issues.

I am sorry Snickers emoticon isn't doing well. It is so hard when a pet is ill. You can't tell them what is wrong.

I'm so glad Snickers is doing better. Pet's are just as close as kids to my heart and I've always loved Bernese Mountain dogs. Someday, if I ever have the space and money for all the food, I'd love to have a Bernese or a Newfounland.... Not sure what all my cats would think of that!!

Sunday Quiet

Sunday, May 16, 2010

I love the quiet today. The construction people must not work on Sundays. They were busy yesterday and some evenings but it's quiet today. With the rigid separation of church and state it can't be because of religion. LOL. Probably they don't want to pay any more overtime than they already must be for Saturdays and nights. My youngest daughter has to work every other Sunday and is working today but does get extra for it.

Feeling lazy today, which is my normal state. I watched the political shows this morning and wonder why I bother. People who love controversey must become politicians although they all claim it's a desire to serve the people.

Didn't think I'd ever get on here

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Computer problems again. I wasn't on here most of the day so it should be fresh and raring to go. Like an unexercised horse. LOL. All I did this morning was check what needed to be picked up from the library and what was due back. When I came in tonight the library page was still up. So why all the problems.

I did go to the library. I decided to walk up the Kellogg side because the sun hits all the way and I'd get vitamin D. The 4th street side is all construction and even the sidewalk has a place you have to walk under a thing they put over the sidewalk. Plus it's all shade from the buildings. So I took my 4 books back and took out three new ones and started back down Kellogg. I heard music playing and figured there was something going on in Rice Park. So I walked to 4th and sure enough there was a Glacier National Park Festival going on. It included the library and St Paul hotel too. I saw a sign that said cheese and I got all excited thinking it could be cheese curds. But no it was a pizza wagon and was cheese pizza. I was pretty hot and sweaty and decided to buy an ice and got a mango ice which cooled me down.
