Back to early November weight

Saturday, January 09, 2010

This is a good thing. My weight has been up and down, up and down, since the first part of November. One goal was to get to 190 by my birthday, January 4th. Today I was at 191.8 so I'm getting closer. I don't understand why I so often sabotage my weight efforts but I'm back on task.

I do the same thing - for me, I guess the key is to accept that I'm going to eat things I shouldn't from time to time, and eat too much from time to time, but I can't let that derail me completely, and I need to keep those "time to time" occurrences to a minimum. Try not looking so closely at just today and instead look more at the "big picture" - you have done a great job with your weight loss over time, and you're still moving in the right direction. Hang in there and you'll reach your goals!

I don't understand why I undermine my weight loss either. I guess if we didn't, we wouldn't have a weight problem in the first place. emoticon

I am so glad that you are getting yourself back where you want to be.

I am glad to see that you are back on task! Sometimes for every step we take forwards we take two backwards! Just keep moving forward like those Vikings!

I think we all tend to sabotage one way or another. However, getting back on track is the key. It has taken me 2 years on spark to lose 20lbs. So I commend you for your wise efforts. Sorry I missed your Birthday...but this time it was unavoidable. chuckle Hope it was a good one.
Hugs,
Lee

Congratulations on almost reaching your weight goal for your Birthday. Journaling or bloging, depending on your comfort level, may prove helpful in figuring out why you are sabotaging yourself. Matter of fact what typically is recommended for these types of issues is to keep a log of what you were thinking/doing when you were overeating. You may find a pattern. Once you know what is going on you can work on a plan to deal with it. Also you might want to ask for help at your doctor's office. I don't know if they offer any type of counseling.

Good luck in figuring it out!

In the deep freeze in St Paul, MN

Friday, January 08, 2010

It is quite cold today and the roads haven't been cleared very well so there is lots of concelations outstate. It snowed some yesterday. I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Anything I need I can find in the skyway. My bones hurt from the cold yesterday and all I did was go from buildings to Baileys car. I don't know if Dawn will be coming today or not.

Success must be attractive. My team I'm a co-leader of is the Minnesota Vikings and there have been a number of new members. Some were new to SparkPeople too which is very successful. The Spark coming out probably attracted some new members.

I noticed last year that membership and activity increased dramatically in January. Unfortunately it fell of as quick as it started. Let's hope for a better year this time around.
I'm sorry you're so cold.

Try and stay warm. You must be proud of the Vikings this year. They're doing great!

Yes, I think the publicity from Spark came at a good time, but the beginning of the year also seems to bring out new members.

I am not going far today. Out to lunch with a friend. Luckily the roads near me have been cleared. I've noticed the cold bothering my knees.... Getitng old isn't for whimps. lol

Another no fill

Thursday, January 07, 2010

I had a band adjustment today and again they decided no fill. I just love it when they all rave about how great I look and how well I've done. But get a little frustrated when they say no fill and I'm able to eat, eat, eat. They ask if I have any chocolate, milk products, or shakes and when I say yes that's my problem they say. I saw the nurse parctioner because last time I'd waited so long they had me see her. Then when I go back through the hall I see my surgeon and he's all excited, how am I doing etc. He wants me to see him not anyone else and to set the appointment early two months out because of what happened. He cares about me and wants to keep track of me. I'm probably the oldest he's banded. He always seems so excited to see me but he's probably just excited all the time. I admit I didn't push as hard as I might have because I'd seen a blog about having an unfill and that sounded nasty. I mean what happened from being too full.

I checked into gastric banding myself and went through a seminar where they explained the procedure. If I understand you correctly you are drinking things you are not supposed to be drinking. Adjusting the band does not help for that as I understand it. But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. I'm sure they have your well being in mind with what they are doing. It's so nice to hear that they get excited about your doing so well!

It is wonderful your doing so well, keep up the good work, keep the doctor happy, thats when you get to see him. It does get fustrating to set a appointment to see the doc, then have to see someone else. I have had that happen to me, but bet insurance gets charged for a DOCTOR visit regardless( maddening to say the least). I don't know anyone with a band,so here goes what do you mean by fill or unfill? Sorry for the stupid question.

Sorry no fill again. Your doctor probably does know best. I just had a little unfill this week. My last fill was at the end of October, and I it seems fine the first month, but then between Thanksgiving and Christmas I started being so tight that I would even have a hard time with my protein shake in the morning sometimes and was clogging on things at dinner randomly that I really shouldn't have been so far, I'm doing better. I worry about getting too hungry, but it hasn't been anything I can't control so far, so hopefully I'm at my sweet spot. I hope you can find yours too. (Okay, maybe "sweet" isn't the best word for us to be using...)

Slow start to Boot camp

Wednesday, January 06, 2010

Boot camp started Sunday and that's the day I went to the Vikings game. Dawn picked me up at 9:40 and brought me back about 4:30 so it was a short day to do things. Plus I got dressed at 5am because I was afraid if I fell asleep I might not wake up again. I actually never got back to sleep because I was so excited and got up at 7:30 and that's way early for me so I was sleepy tired. Then being out in the freezing cold and going up and down steps wore me out physically. So I wasn't really able to get into Boot camp although I'd checked the video on Saturday. I'm also trying to get the Spark book read and follow it's guide.

Sounds like you had plenty of exercise that day. But that does not mean you have to give up on the boot camp! You can do it!

Just "jump-in" and start the Boot Camp. I'm getting a kick out of it...loving exercising on the stability ball.

start with boot camp whenever you want. It really doesn't matter if you are a couple days behind. I actually modified the first day anyway, because I don;t jump with my knees.

You got enough of a work out with all the stairs. I was just reading that exercise done in the cold burns more calories. I don't know if that's true or not but if it is, you did all right. Just hit boot camp as soon as you can.

Join in the boot camp. It's not a crime to start a few days late. So far the 10 minute videos are Ok although I do some modifications. I hope by the end of the month I can improve. It is a challenge for my age but who knows...maybe I'll lose a pound.

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

I've so touched by all the Birthday wishes I've received from my SparkFriends and of course my fantastic family. I am truly blessed.

Morgan bit me during the night. I think I might have kicked her first. She doesn't usually bite unless agravated. I was sleeping so she probably was too.

Gail said Rachel is coming over to swim so I bet Isaac will be here too. We are all going to take part in the St Paul Winter Carnival going to a SparkPeople rally.

Happy Belated Birthday. I am so sorry that I missed it. Tell Morgan to be nicer to you and you won't have to kick her during the night. LOL Have fun at the Carnival. I have heard great things about it.
