Having a Merry Christmas

Friday, December 25, 2009

O.K. Let's try this again. I typed in my title and hit enter and lost this. So here I go again. I was having a Merry Christmas until just now when I came into the bedroom. The Direct TV doesn't seem to be working. It works fine in the living room but the computer is in here so I can't do anything on it unless I'm in here. Also something seems to be stuck in my band causing pain. Probably pork chop. I had problems at Dawn's too. That was very pleasant. Bailey and I talked yesterday and decided if we went we would rather go in day light hours. So Bailey called Dawn and said she didn't like being out after dark and we were supposed to be there at 4. Dawn didn't get the hint so I called and said we want to come earlier and she had to check with her family. She did and called back and said 2. So Bailey and I pretty much better go since they moved the time for us. Bailey lives in south Minneapolis and they hadn't called a snow emergency until today so her streets weren't cleaned yet except down the middle. A neighbor helped push her out so she was able to make it. St Paul had declared a snow emergency and down town is quite clear. The roads were fine but wet and it was raining. Quite hard by the time we came home. The meal was delicious. Dawn was pretty wiped out. She'd helped her son Brandan shovel a driveway he contracts to keep clean and then he helped her shovel their driveway. She fixed some of the meal before but by the time to clean up she said her brain wasn't working and her muscles were rubbery. Bailey called me after she got home to let me know she'd made it ok and parked on the wrong side of the street. That was the only open place and she has to leave for work by 7;30 in the morning and you have to be moved by 8. When I got home there was a message from Gail. Evidently the Willgohs' all made it and she didn't think Bailey and I would attempt today.

Best wishes to all and any journeys be safe.

Christmas Eve Day

Thursday, December 24, 2009

It's here along with a nasty snow storm in my area. I hope all those traveling have a safe trip. I wish everybody a very Merry Christmas, Holidays, and Happy New Year. I will be leaving shortly for the Passport Senior Center Christmas Eve Celebration. I'm so glad I don't have to go outside to get there. I just called first to make sure they were still having it.

Merry Christmas to you, too, Amy. Hope you have a great evening. We had some snow and the wind is 40 plus miles an hour. Very cold and miserable. Staying in. We will have our gathering on Saturday, hope the weather clears by then. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Merry Christmas!

I stayed downtown last night also just so I wouldn't have to confront the snow at home! I got more than enough exercise in and I'm really looking forward to our celebration tonight! The roads are fairly clear and I don't have to leave St. Paul until later tonight. Then I'm off until Monday and have all that time to deal with the snow at my own pace!

Beautiful Christmas lights

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

As I said in yesterday's blog Bailey, Gail, Rachel, Levi, Isaac, and I went on a limo ride to see the many glorious light displays. We were picked up at 5 in front of the building. Since it would be over the dinner hour Gail packed a really delicious one of ham sandwiches ( left overs from celebration at Dawn's), some chips, cheese, pears, hot chocolate, and water. For some reason the limo windows kept fogging up on on side an the back but we were able to see the lights. It's getting so close to Christmas.

We are supposed to be getting a pretty nasty storm starting tonight and lasting through Saturday. I hope Gail's family and all those traveling make it ok.

I have a really bad headache and am dizzy today so didn't make it to Isaac's ECFE program. We went by the building last night.

Thanks for sharing! Hope you feel better!

Aren't you glad you live downtown and where you don't have to do any shoveling?

Merry Christmas!

Taking a Limo ride to see the sights

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Bailey, Gail, Rachel, Levi, Isaac, and I are taking a limo ride tonight to see the Christmas lights. I'm looking forward to it. Just being with them is fun so seeing the lights too will be even better. Sunday Isaac had a fever so I hope he's better. Since it will be over the dinner hour I don't know if we will eat first or take sandwiches along.

What a great way ti see the holiday lights, everybody gets to see them all together instead of the driver needing to pay attention to the road and watching out for people etc. i'm sure you will enjoy the limo ride too.

What a cool idea! My DH always drives us around but he can't look and drive at the same time so I am always going. "DAVID!" before he rear ends someone. Your idea is
way better.

What a cool thing to do! I'm sure the kids will remember that for years to come! Is it a family tradition or something special for this year?

Post Holiday Blues

Monday, December 21, 2009

We had our Christmas and my birthday celebration on Saturday so maybe my mood is post holiday blues. It is probably exacerbated a lot by the Vikings losing last night. Again they didn't seem to have the zest they had last week. Maybe they don't like playing away on Sunday night. Maybe they got too relaxed when they heard Green Bay had lost so they were divisional champs. They better watch out from what the announcers were saying they could drop from #2 in the NFC and not have a first round bye.

I'm not doing well with my eating. I gained 4 pounds last week. Today is weigh in day for a couple of my teams and that isn't going to look very good. Not that I'm losing weight for the teams, it's for me to feel good. That could be making me blue too. Messing up my weight loss and too many sweets.

I have to get to the library today. I have one book due and 5 to pick up. I ordered several different authors I've never read from a scavenger hunt in the Mystery Readers SparkTeam.

Tis the season for everything plus getting a little down. So far I have been doing good with all this holiday stuff, alot of times I get really depressed because the holidays show me how alone I am, but this year my sis and I have been spending time together, and doing great...hope you feel good soon! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. And yes that Viking game was enough to get anyone down...

HEY GIRLFRIEND! DON'T TAKE THAT TREE DOWN YET! JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON! My tree is up even though I have 2 daughters, 4 grand babies, and a husband! Not one of them will wish me a Merry christmas! I rely far too much on spark people for my happiness! I will be cooKin and a cleanin til i drop without a single gift back! but as i said there will be a smile on my face as the little ones open theirs!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! emoticon

I always feel a little down after a big event too. I don't know why. Don't be too hard on your self. You are doing great and four pounds will not hurt. You will get those off and get back on track in no time. Stay determined and it will happen. Now I just need to take my own advice and do the same thing.

This is the season that many regain some of the weight that they wish not to ever see again, don't be so hard on yourself; we humans are made mistakes and the holidays are good for enticing us with all the food and goodies we usually don't have around. You take care and have a happy new year.

I can understand your blue mood. I often get down after a big holiday. It's a let down. And gaining weight is definitely a downer. You will get back on track now and as soon as you start to take off those four pounds your mood will improve..Happy New years!
