Too many senior moments

Monday, November 30, 2009

Yesterday when I went to call Lori my cell phone was dead. I don't have long distance on my land phone so didn't have any way to call her and let her know. After a few minutes she called me to see if I forgot I'd said I'd call at noon. So I asked if she'd wait until 1:30 while my phone charged. So I go to call and it still doesn't work. So I start poking keys and finally it lights up. I think it might have been turned off the whole time since I had no idea how to turn it off or on. Now I do.

Last night we had a chat with my Mystery Readers team at 7:30 my time. I was remembering right up until then. At 8:15 I realized I'd not phoned in. Of course I couldn't remember how to get in or my password when I did. I finally got on and they started saying Hi Lisa. After this I asked who is Lisa because it felt like the were talking to me. Sure enough they thought I was Lisa and had to ask me who I was.

I'm still not feeling well and didn't go to the SparkRally to night. Bummer.

Technology is getting too complicated! Sometimes I can't figure out how to get the TV on to what I want because we've got so much stuff hooked up to it and doing different recordings! Anyway, hope that you'll be feeling back to your sparky self soon. Where was there a spark rally yesterday? Have a great day -

Busy Day

Sunday, November 29, 2009

I've got a busy day ahead. I listened to the political forums as I was getting out of bed. Watching Vikings weekly now and then Vikings game day and then NFL game day. At 3:15 I will watch the Vikings defeat the Bears. Go Vikings. Before the game at noon I will be calling my youngest daughter Lori. I usually call her every Sunday at 4 but the game is interferring today.

Tonight I have a book chat with my Spark Mystery Readers Team. It will be a bit different because we aren't discussing a specific book but having a kind of party.

I haven't had any recent huge weight loses but my skin has been wrinkling up. Especially my mouth, neck, and belly. At the Dr on Friday when he looked at my weight loss from the previous appointment which was in July he said I'd lost 20 pounds. Now that felt like I lost weight. LOL. He also checked my highest weight which was 280 and said losing almost 90 pounds is really good. It is but I still want to keep losing.

Over scheduled

Saturday, November 28, 2009

I think I may have been overscheduling myself for my energy and ability to keep up. I was supposed to go to Wild Winter Wonderland at the Rivercenter preceded by lunch at the Town and Country Club. I whimped out because I couldn't get out of bed and had no energy. I hope they got the message I left on the only phone number I had which was the center. Hopefully they won't ban me from the rest I've signed up for. I'm sure a big part of it was having to walk a bunch of blocks and making sure the correct bus did actually stop there and then getting off at a totally unknown part of town and walking at least 3 blocks to Bethesda to get on a bus for the restaurant. I could walk all the way to Bethesda but it says there aren't any sidewalks or any place to walk and I'm not comfortable walking in traffic. I'm sure it's all this housework I'm doing in that half hour I'm committed to making me tired. LOL. I've been busy every day since Monday. I used to be able to handle about one thing a week and then had to rest. I'm sure I'll feel better as soon as the Vikings beat Chicago tomorrow. LOL.

Increasing your activity level will definitely make you more tiered. But in the long run I think it gives you more energy. So keep up the good work! emoticon
I'm sorry you missed the outing.

Isaac called me today

Friday, November 27, 2009

I was so surprised to answer the phone and hear Isaac say Hi Mamy with some background coaching. He told me about riding in a sleigh behind a horse, getting a Christmas, Grandpa's a bunch of times. I guess about his vehicle having problems so they had to get it fixed. They were in the car and had just called his Daddy and he said call Mamy so they did and made my day.

I went to the doctor today for a routine checkup. Took five vials of blood and I just checked and everything is pretty much the same as usual. I'd quit the last diabetic drug about a month ago and was interested to see what my A1C was. It's a bit higher than I've been running because I've kept it at 6.0 which is normal and was 6.6 today. I don't think I'll restart and will probably try cutting some of the last ones I take. I will have to see the sleep doctor to see what I should do about my sleep apnea. I have a mammogram next week.

Tomorrow I have to catch a bus to Bethesda Hospital for a lunch at the Town and Country Club and then Wild Winter Wonderland at the Rivercentre. I hope they let me walk home and not take me back to Bethesda where I'd have to catch a bus home. I have to walk a couple blocks to get to the bus and at least 3 more where I get off. Rivercentre is closer. I called Metro Transit after spending at least an hour trying to figure out where I should catch the bus. I finally called because the internet said 4th and Minnesota and I live there and no buses are going through because of construction. I have to go to 6th and Minnesota and I just hope the bus is there.

You don't live very far from me. I am in Pennsylvania, Dillsburg, to be exact. I hope you can work out the bus thing. I know how that can be. I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and Hull, Quebec, Cananda, and buses were really excellent transportation options. Here in the Harriburg area the transit system is lacking greatly. Just taking things one day at a time, sometimes, one moment. Believe me, if you stop for even just one moment, it can change what you do the next moment by giving you a moment to think. Good Luck - emoticon

Great Thanksgiving Day

Thursday, November 26, 2009

I had a great Thanksgiving at my daughter Dawn's home. Bailey picked me up and took me and brought me home again. It was just their family and her husband's father so only 7 of us. I did well on a spectacular meal. I was putting the beverages around. Dawn asked Bailey to but she was busy and I said I will. She was surprised because I haven't helped much for quite awhile because I was so heavy it was hard. But I did and switched the big plate for a little one and didn't give myself anything to drink. I usually fight Kelsey for the turkey skin but said no I'd better not. She did bring me one tiny piece I ate and it was awesome. I took a tiny bit of potatos, a little more dressing, tiny bit of white turkey, and then kind of blew it by putting gravy over all of it. I took a small scoop of the salad I'd folded the pretzels into. I had a sliver of apple and one of strawberry/rhubarb pie, heated with a scoop of ice cream around 4. I brought a little bit of everything home. I did bring more white meat because nobody there likes white meat and she even bakes two extra legs for more dark meat. I helped more than I have in years and maybe all that up and down back and forth helped lessen the overeating.
