I am back

Tuesday, August 07, 2012

I have not logged any info for a while.

My goal when I started Spark People was to stop the yo-yo dieting and reach a certain goal weight by my daughter's wedding.

I believe I accomplished at least 1/2 of that and am on my way to completing the rest.

I left July 11 to her destination wedding and had not reached my goal weight but was very comfortable with myself and progress.

While gone I expected to fluctuate up some but to my delight and surprise I did not!!! I actually continued to loose!!!

I kept on track with what I have learned with Spark People and made good choices and did not have any desire to eat junk food or go off track because I was on vacation! Yee Ha!

So that is why I can say I have accomplished 1/2 of my goals and am on my way to completing the rest.

I am confident I will reach my goal weight and I am so happy with my new lifestyle choices and I want to stay there. (My goal to stop yo-yo dieting!)

I hope to add pictures soon. I am waiting for the photographer to send the photos.

Thank you to all my spark friends and I wanted to say I have not quit but just have had a busy month. I hope to get back to my computer and tracking soon.

What I have learned...

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I have learned the importance of tracking.
I have learned accountability and how it changes what you see and think.
I have learned carrying a water bottle all day doesn't mean you're drinking 8 glasses a day!
I have learned what I thought was healthy wasn't always healthy.
I have learned I am not as active as I thought I was because of my pedometer.

By tracking I see just what I am eating and its calories and it helps me to see the choices I make and how quickly things add up so... I am correcting!

By being accountable I have to answer to someone (though just my computer) it is shared information and being completely honest with your data makes you see things that you otherwise wouldn't see or address as something to fix.

I carry a water bottle with me but I started numbering it instead of just carrying it and by writing the number on the lid I can see that I have to drink that bottle to finish 2, 4 , 6 and then 8 glasses. It doesn't get drank just carrying it and I don't always remember how much I have had.

I have always tried to be a healthyish eater ( I love to cook good foods and try to feed my family with homemade things not processed and a lot of fruit and veggies) But because real butter is real butter and half and half real cream and certain meats or sauces higher in calories than I thought it adds up fast! Learning to adjust and change my thinking that there are real not processed foods I can substitute and still get the health benefits and good taste.

This is my second day using a pedometer and HA! That is an eye opener. I am finding ways to move to get my steps up there because it shows I am not moving as much as I thought in my head!
So .....

Learning is good and applying what I've learned even better.

I have even begun to see results, finally on the scale and in my measurements which seemed soooooo far away!

Maybe the next thing learned will be exercise is fun...not something I have to do. Still working on that!

i found tracking my food really helpful. after you get most of your food logged into the system, it gets easier to use. it is a learning experience in it's self. sounds like you are determined to get healthy. good for you. emoticon emoticon

Wow, you're really getting it! Great job! I like the idea of numbering your water bottles. It's easy to lose track. I bet you can find a way to make your exercise fun. Keep up the great work!
