I bought an Omron after asking that same question here at Spark. I LOVE IT! It is small and fit easily in my pocket. It keeps up to 7 days worth of data. Breaks down the steps into aerobic steps and calculates miles and calories. I ordered it from Amazon because I didn't feel like hunting in the stores.

I Miss my SP Friends....I Can't Lose the Wt. Without YOU!

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

For all my SP friends~ I am back on TRACK with tracking my food and getting my exercise in and now I am trying to reconnect with you after an 8 month absence! I have been Homeschooling my child and have put everything including SP on the backburner .Well ,now I am ready to be back and just had to learn how to tweak the time slots for everything! I understand if any of you want to drop me as you haven't heard from me in several mos. I usually expect myself to "visit" at least every season ,but I got overwhelmed by Homeschooling at first {though I am a former elementary schoolteacher so it's like a fish to water for me!]. I just misunderstood our comittment to Homeschooling since we are "Associate" members right now and I thought we would just accompany everyone on the field trips! Anyway, it has been a BLAST of GREAT FUN to get the priviledge of teaching my son one-on-one and we learn so much TOGETHER!!!!! I loved teaching when I did it full time and now I have come full circle~ from "playing school" with my younger siblings to teaching full -time to part- time subbing to Homeschooling my child!!! Anyway, just wanted to say THANK YOU to all my SP friends for hanging in there with me! And your GOODIE is coming,if you haven't already got it! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonPS~ In case you're wondering about the title, I have ,unfortunately in those 8 mos. put back some of the weight on.But with tracking and getting to talk with all of you [ I feel I have missed what is going on in your lives!],I know I'll get the wt. off once again as I am choosing my foods with better care, ever mindful of what I need to eat~getting enough protein, folate and cutting those carbs down to size[I always went over my carb limit!!}!!!

It is great to "see" you again. I had been absent too. Life got hectic and there wasn't much time for sparking. I am trying to make it a priority to check in more often because it does help me stay on track.
I loved homeschooling my kids. I did it for 2 years and I hated to stop, but for many reasons they are both back in school. My daughter has most recently asked to home-school again and I am torn. I teach pre school now and I love that too. Kids are great!

Drop you as a friend, naw, never, I totally value our friendship. Life happens and it happens to all of us. It was a while since I had posted a blog and today was the first one in a while. Basketball will be consuming me soon, tryouts are in a week and a half. So I too will be MIA on some days and weeks. I will promise to try to check regularly even if it is a simple hello! Have fun!

I am so glad you're still around! You are such a good friend! I have to say that I'm sorry I have been so absent, too! Times have been tough in our family lately, but God is good and we are making it! Now, I'm trying to get caught up! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Don't even think about it! We all drop the amount of time we spend periodically. Life gets really busy.

So glad you are loving homeschooling! Your son is blessed to have you for his teacher.

Well,it's ABOUT TIME I CAME BACK ON TRACK! Tracking FOOD ,that is....

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Well, my Sparkfriends and Sparkmembers, I can say I've been there and done that, but I HAD HOPED I would be able to keep the weight off permanently WITHOUT having to track! WRONG ~for me,that is!!!! I had stopped tracking when I started Homeschooling or only did it sporadically and sometimes, just Breakfast since that was easier ~I have LOTS of breakfast combos of oatmeal with fruit. May be boring ,but it WORKS FOR ME in KEEPING MY CHOLESTROL at a HEALTHY ,NORMAL level since I brought it down 77 points two years ago. I realize I have not been DAILY EXERCISING and that combined with not tracking has seen the weight inch up ever so slowly ,but IT'S THERE! The Good NEWS is that armed with my SP knowledge of tracking and healthy snacks to eat, I will be able to fight this weight gain and win once again! I am still keeping my BASAL METABOLIC RATE in the 1800s and I still have all the energy I accumulated since losing the weight back in June 2010. I just made the mistake of letting the days slip by with putting exercise on the back burner and replacing it with Homeschooling my child. And though I won't give up Homeschooling my child, I will have to reestablish my routines with tracking and I plan to buy the Spark Cookbook ! {which wasn't available before when I joined ;though the recipes were,it was extra work to locate each recipe for dinner that was 30 min or less and under 350 cals! } For all those in the same boat that I am , I say DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP!!!! I don't plan to give up and you should either! We CAN DO THIS! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
PS~ i JUST CHECKED MY CALORIE INTAKE FOR TODAY AND HIT ALL THE ACCEPTABLE NUMBERS IN ALL THE CATEGORIES! I KNOW I can do this! Another note~For those of you who look @ my photo and say where is the weight? Well, it was taken last Christmas and I am able to "hide" the weight at stomach/belly level b/c I am tall, but it is still there and don't I know it!
