Here's My Veggie /Fruit Garden ~Photos of Garden @ the Beginning of Harvest!

Thursday, August 04, 2011

I finally finished weeding & mulching the garden so it is fit for presentation! I got a late start as the third WEEK of June rolled around and I should have been planting by end of May! But what was GREAT was how FAST seeds will grow ,given the right conditions!: we had added to our soil amendments like compost manure, sand ,and layers of wet newspaper on the bottom [food for worms!] which helped the soil improve so much that when I planted it was LOAMY~the BEST kind of soil to work with~soft and easy to plant in ! The seeds all sprouted within 4 days to a week. Here are the 8 crops ~ summer squash, green beans, corn, cantaloupe, carrots, green onions[ scallions] tomatoes [in Earth box on side of house ,not shown] and cucumbers. The cauilflower & broccoli didn't make it past the cutworms ,which I found a few.The Walla Walla onions seeds were too old and didn't grow. Can't wait for that first taste of homegrown veggies ! emoticon emoticon emoticon The summer squash, tomatoes & beans are starting to really grow...!!!

I didn't even get a garden in this year as the weather was so nuts when it was planting time. Gave up! Enjoying the markets instead this year.

That's wonderful! The drought has really hurt our garden this year, but we are still getting some, and some is better than none! I just love to go out and pick the fruits and vegetables that we have grown ourselves! Looking forward to the photos!

Hi! My hubby & I BOTH LOVE to cook and we LOVE herbs ,so ,when my flower garden died last year with extreme winds, we decided to convert it to a herb garden! We started with a few~Greek Oregano,Rosemary,Sage,Basil and Chives. He mulched it with bark and now it is come full circle! I bought 6 more herbs today @ our Farmer's Market and now there is Thyme,Marjoram,Parsley, Purple Sage,Tarragon, and Italian Oregano. Here are some photos ~wish I could send AROMA~VISION!!! They exude such wonderful aromas! And herbs are any cook's best friend!!!!

A Tribute to My Father and My Husband After Father's Day~

Monday, June 20, 2011

To my father~ I miss you! I wish you were here to meet your only grandson and see him play baseball and try to play piano! I know you would love him! He is so exuberant and full of life! So carefree and yet, thoughtful & caring ,just as you were ,as you taught me to be.... I LOVE that you taught me to appreciate & love music [though I didn't appreciate it at the time!]. I love that I have this family legacy of music and love of reading to pass on to my son! He started reading at 2 years old ,Dad! Can you believe it? But you always told me to follow my dreams & I did! I became a teacher! I became a wife! I became a mother! And one day, I will become a successful business entrepreneur, like you were ~like almost all the kids in our family have become! I tell my son about you & his Grandma,my mom ,and show him photos as I want him to be familiar with what YOU and MOM LOVED to do ,to be and were! I KNOW you'd be proud of him, of me and my husband! You gave me a legacy of LOVE and I pass it on....
To my husband~ I LOVE YOU! You are such a wonderful ,loving husband to me and a very patient, kind, loving and great father to our son! He LOVES YOU SO! I love seeing how you work with him, guiding him in the right ways of God to follow His Precepts from the Bible, to give our son direction and help and love~always showing him love! I just adore how MUCH you tell him you love him and SHOW HIM DAILY! I KNEW when I married you that you would be the best husband to me & father to our children! Happy Father's Day to the men in my life both past and present~ you BOTH bring a legacy of love that will live on....~Thank you and thank you God,for giving them to me in my life !!!! emoticon emoticon
