Eat chicken soup, stay indoors, and get well,but....

Friday, March 12, 2010

All the things my mom would tell me when I was sick while growing up ,but she always made it fun---you did not have to share the t.v., you got whatever you wanted from mom's menu for dinner, but her specialty was egg on toast, and you got a milkshake. We actually loved all the attention from being sick and we got Mom to ourselves--in a family of 5 siblings, not an easy feat to achieve!!! Now that Iam sick and my toddler is on-the-mend, we have discovered new ways to have fun while we miss out on all the outdoor activities......My toddler has discovered "coloring" so we can use his giant CARS coloring book that we got him earlier in the week, chasing each other around the house, playing hide-n-seek {he "gets" it--the game},and his favorite---playing with his farm animals, bldgs. and having Mom right there. :)

Keeping My Head Above water while being sick....

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Well,my toddler is better and so is my hubby, but now I'm sick, but moms are NOT supposed to get sick!! My toddler has been very helpful with the dishes last night and picking up his toys, too! Trying to keep going with tracking the food, exercising and planning meals sometimes feels like you' re in the deep end of the pool, just trying to stay afloat! Well, time to go take my vitamins and decide which spark recipe to do for dinner. They've been very good recipes---tasty, usually easy-to-prepare , and satisfying. Plus they last me a couple of meals during the week.... emoticon

emoticon for Sparking, even when you don't feel your best. Eating healthy, taking the vitamins, and drinking plenty of water are all wise choices. Look at you go! emoticon

Hope you're feeling better today!

Starting Secret Pals in the MOMs Club.....

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Such a fun thing to do!! I have always liked secret pals even when I first got into the field of education as an aide. I really surprised my secret pal--- the Bilingual Coordinator---of our school. She was so surprised when she found out! The Secret Pal exchange only lasts for 6 wks. in our group, but what fun!! We each have a likes/dislikes chart to go by and possible drop by times. I told my toddler since this is an extra errand, every time he behaves for a drop-off, we'll get ice cream ..so far 1-for-1. {Doesn't bribery always work for kids?} Anyway,am excited to see what her reaction will be--easy one-B&N gift card for b-day in a lil' book! emoticon

Sometimes, it's tough to stick to your goal....

Monday, March 08, 2010

Boy, has today been a hard day to get anything done on-site: my family is rebelling. My toddler does not understand-- Mommy has to log her food in now { he doesn't always take a nap and when he does, 2 hours or less} and Daddy's just getting resentful. They like the results ,but can't accept that " I can't do it later". and every time I eat something new or something he has fixed, I have to TRACK it! I am determined to get this weight down and I am not going to skip a day b/c for me, I can't. Then, trying to get the fitness in is another story.... emoticon

You are doing great! My hubby cracks jokes all the time to his friends that he is gonna get a lap top so he can get online and talk to me. But there he sits with a book. LOL Keep tracking and keep moving! It works! emoticon emoticon

I totally understand. DH is usually understanding most of the time, although I'm sometimes convinced that he is rolling his eyes behind my head. The boys definitely don't understand. You do need to do it though for yourself and your family. We have recently started trying to plan our dinner/suppers (whatever you call it) out for a week or two in advance. It makes things so much easier, even if it is just a day in advance. I pretty much have my same breakfast, but will adjust my lunch depending on what we are having for supper.

I have the same thing for breakfast every day and I keep my lunch close to the same thing.. little differences but not much. I also am the one who cooks dinner so I have a good idea what that meal will be.. So I pre-track. I write down whats planned. I do very well with this. There has been very few days that I had to change something. You might want to try it. It really helps me.

Hang in there, my friend. As your family sees the improvements and notices how much happier you are, they will "come around". You know the old saying, "If Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy!" Just be patient and give them time. In the meantime, keep squeezing in those SP minutes any chance you get.

I'm praying for you and your sweet family. How's your son feeling today?

I feel your pain. Toddlers just DON'T understand. So you just have to do what you gotta do. I think you're doing great!! Just keep in mind that tomorrow is another day!!!

Take care!!!
