I did it----I WALKED AWAY from the Cookies!!!!

I was in Sam's Club yesterday with my toddler getting some Propel Vitamin water ,when I saw the Famous Amos Cookies in a case! OH,did I want them and are they GOOD!!! But as I looked into my toddler's eyes,I KNEW they were no good to my toddler, myself or my husband! So, I WALKED AWAY from the COOKIES!!!!
For ME~~THAT was an Accomplishment because we had cookies in the house ALL the time when I was growing up! And my mom made the best cookies....
There were Nestle Tollhouse Choc.Chip....
and molasses...
and spritz...
and pferrernusse...
and mint chocolate sandwich....
and peanut butter...
and Hoot Owl---2 choc. chip eyes & a cashew nose on a rolled choc+white bed of cookie
dough
and sugar cut-outs with cookie cutters @ Christmas and decorated with every kind of sprinkle there was!!!!

    My mom always had some homemade dessert to go with our dinner. I still like to have something sweet but usually don't, especially during the week. Great job for saying no to the cookies!!!!

    Wish I could say that for today. I say it often, but today I have fallen. My accomplishment for the day, though, is that the next thing on my agenda is my strength training - not my most enjoyed exercise. It is as good as done!

    Wow, am I proud of you!!!! I did not walk away from the coookies today. They were handing out coookie samplees at Kwik Star today and I took a sample of Macadamia nut coookie. But, I'm proud of you. Maybe I'll be able to walk away next time since I know it can be done.

    GOOD FOR YOU!! Cookies are so good - but the first 1 is gone so fast - and doesn't like being Susie-fied alone, so it calls several of its friends to join it! Last one I ate was gone before I realized it (I seriously looked all around for the other half, SURE I hadn't eaten it). Not worth having around - I like the 'without cookies me' MUCH better than the 'cookie-lover me'!!

    Oh my your talking to the #1 cookie monster... problem is... I DON'T stop at 1 or 2 or even 10... they niggle in my mind until they are gone... so no cookies no niggle.. LOL

    OH I use to love COOKIES! I used to bake gherdillei choc chip atleast 2x a week! I haven't done that since Dec!

Good for you they are totaly not worth it anyway! Now a days I'd much rather buy some squirt guns or water ballons than cookies!

The reason THIS RECIPE is my Secret of Successs is that during my time of losing wt. I could fix it and it would last for almost a week and I would not have to cook much{Note : my hubby did not eat dinner w/me 4 x / a wk due to his work schedule so my toddler & I ate it--mostly ME!] I never tired of eating it because of all the herbs/spices and the LOW CALS!!! I averaged 3 Shells when I would have lunch or dinner . Add a salad and a small half slice of bread and there is a meal! I've altered this recipe for stuffed pasta shells that comes as a "find" from one of my fellow moms in the wt. loss support group of my MOMs Club! I can't list it in the recipes as it can't be copyrighted and since I've altered it,feel it is ok to post here! From PASTABILITES---Light & TastyMagazine or e-mail @ www.lightandtasty.com--Note: I only have a copy and do not have the date of the recipe given and I will list original name & my altered name for recipe.NUTRITION INFO GIVEN BELOW
FIVE CHEESE STUFFED SHELLS ----i call it 4 Cheese Stuffed Shells Because I do not use the 4 slices of reduced fat provolone cheese--chopped---in the recipe.The CALORIE COUNT IS 226cals. per 2 shells =1 serving!!!{that's WITH the PROVOLONE CHEESE ]And IT IS FILLING!!!! Plus it is HIGH in SPINACH which adds to FOLATE Nutrient being High!

Also Note : This is a BIG BATCH set of 20 servings so I eat it for lunch or dinner at least 4-5/x a week; hubby LOVES it,too!--when he GOT A CHANCE to eat it!!!
Prep Time: 40 min. at least Cook Time: 40 - 45 minutes

Ingredients:
20 UNCOOKED Jumbo pasta Shells [I use Da Vinci}
2 cups COOKED chopped spinach-fresh is best & then pureed in Cusinart but FROZEN is ok ,too--use TWO 10 oz boxes to get 2 cups.
1 cup FAT-FREE cottage cheese
1 cup PART SKIM Ricoota Cheese
1/2 cup SHREDDED Parmesan Cheese
1/2 cup SHREDDED Romano Cheese
1 egg
2 Garlic cloves--MINCED
1 of each herb-Tarragon,basil or basil leaf,oregano and cilantro--I have used 1 tsp. to 2 tbsp of each ,depending on how seasoned you want it to taste!
1 jar of MEATLESS spaghetti sauce

1-COOK pasta shells according to pkg. instructions; drain. Set aside.
2-While pasta shells are cooking,COMBINE next 11 ingredients[NOT spaghetti sauce!!]; spoon into shells.
3-ARRANGE[I spoon into the shell and arrange in the pan at SAME time!] in 13x9x2" baking
dish coated with nonstick spray.
4-POUR spaghetti sauce over ALL SHELLS.
5-COVER and BAKE @ 350 degrees for 40-45 min. or until heated all the way through.
Makes 10 {2 SHELL} servings

Nutrition Info: 2 stuffed shells =1 serving=226 cals.
FAT-8g /SF- 4g/ Cholestrol 42mg/ Sodium-849mg/Carbs --24 g/ Fiber-1 g/ Protein --16 g
Diabetic Exchange: 2 lean meat, 1 1/2 weg., 1 starch

Hope anyone looking for DINNERS under 300 cal. will BE ABLE TO MAKE USE OF THIS EXCELLENT RECIPE!!!! 113 CALS FOR 1 SHELL IS Great but I found I needed to eat at least 2 or 3 to feel full! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    This sounds so good and much less sodium than lean cuisines stuffed manicotti.. the ingredients look close.. I will give this a try.. I know my son and hubby will really like it... Thanks Betsy... you always come up with great ideas...

My TWO WAKE-UP CALLS for Weight Loss!!

Since I am going to be redoing --only the story background---- to include the WHOLE FAMILY story, I thought I'd include this blog. My wake-up calls for losing weight SERIOUSLY ---as it occurred THIS YEAR-2010- was my HIGH CHOLESTROL NUMBER-268-the highest it had ever gotten in my life AND TURNING 50 {oddly enough It did NOT bother me to be a Late-In-Life Mommy { my Mom had been ONE with TWINS at age 38], but to have my toddler put his finger in my belly button and to see MY LARGE WAIST & BELLY DID BOTHER ME!!!!} Plus the added fact of heart history in my family was NOT GOOD!!!
I have to say that God not only worked this circumstance in my life for GOOD, but HIS TIMING IS emoticon!!!!!! If a person is going to start a weight loss program for about 20 lbs.,the BEST time is January--a new year, a new resolution, a new YOU! By June, the total pounds were GONE and Bikini Season was HERE!!!! So, now I am HEALTHY ,Have MORE ENERGY, for myself & my family,the CHOLESTROL is NORMAL -191 and Now my only WAKE-UP CALL is my TODDLER wanting breakfast and/or to go downstairs to play with his toys!

    I guess just seeing what my life had turned into was my wake up call. I had health problems - cholesterol, high blood pressure, hypothroidism, pre-diabetes, aching joints - I guess I just got tired of always feeling tired! I was out of breath just walking to the mailbox!
My cholesterol is now "normal," as is my blood pressure. I'm off the cholesterol meds but will continue the BP meds as a precaution (family history). The only joint that ever hurts now is my left knee and that's due to an injury. I'll always take thyroid meds, but no longer have any signs of the pre-diabetes.

    My wake up call came 4 1/2 years ago when my doctor said I had diabetes and that I needed to loose weight. I did and I kept it off for 1 year. I should say I lost almost 50 pounds then and I did it through atkins. with my doctors guiedance. But I plateaued at 145 and couldn't get below that.. So when 2 years ago I got pnemonia and while in the hospital I realized I could die.. that really scared me.. my liver shut down and I was asked how much I drank... they didn't believe me when I said NOTHING.. but its true I gave up drinking many years ago.. so we quit smoking.. and I joined a gym and steadly gained weight.. So I decided I was doing something wrong. I saw where there was a free site to help you get healthy.. and thats what brought me here. and it WORKS!!!! YEA!!!!! I feel so much stronger and healthier its unbeliveable to me.. and my family..
bottom line.. No diabeties.. normal cholestrol it was over 700 I am now in the normal weight range. even though I have a few more pounds to go.. no more obese or morbidly obese marks on my paper work...and best of all my blood work comes back with normal readings for my liver count..

    I am 54 as well as IAMFIRMIN. I was starting to have achy joints, was so tired and unenthused about life. Diabetes runs in my family and that disease scares me to death!

It was time to take charge and quit drifting along. I have only so many years on this earth and I didn't want to phone it in!

    Congratulations on your success! My wake up call had to come through pictures. For some reason the mirror has never been a very accurate representation for me. But when every picture taken of me for that last year or so had a chubby girl in it, I knew it was time for a change.
