~My Toddler~A Poem Of Thanks!!!

Sunday, May 30, 2010

~My Toddler~
You bring SO MUCH JOY and DELIGHT into my life~~~
I look into your eyes and see the wonder of discovery...
so MANY NEW things to LEARN and EXPLORE and FIND OUT on your own,but at the same time~having Mommy and Daddy RIGHT THERE when you need them!!!
Guiding you GENTLY but FIRMLY into the ways of life,
learning MANNERS and how to treat people KINDLY though the world may NOT always
treat YOU in the same way~~
Making STRIDES and LEAPS in your grasp of KNOWLEDGE in the LANGUAGE and making your THOUGHTS and WANTS KNOWN!!!
You teach ME SO MUCH in how you ACT,what you SAY,and the LOVE you show EVERYONE that comes your way~~~
I Thank YOU for giving ME the PRIVILEDGE of being your PARENT and getting to see the JOY you bring others and just getting to TEACH YOU and WATCH you LEARN!!!!
I THANK GOD for bringing YOU into MY LIFE as a source of HIS NEVER-ENDING LOVE for ME and DADDY!!!
Though I LOVE "MY ANGEL- SON" days {as I call them!} when all the behaviorisms are bright and cheery,I know that YOU ARE WATCHING, LISTENING ,HEARING, THINKING and PROCESSING EVERY DAY and I need to be mindful on the not-so-cheerful "bad behavior CHOICES"[yes, I 'm one of the still few that uses the word-"bad"] days that I SET THE EXAMPLE....
I LOVE YOU with ALL MY HEART, my SON, and wanted to SAY THANK YOU~~~ for BEING ~~ YOU!!!!!!
LOVE,YOUR MOMMY emoticon

That was beautiful Betsy I hope you print it off and save it for him.. When he's a teenager and in need of self assurance this will be a good thing for him to read.. teenage boys don't ask for the hug or attention teenage girls do... but they still need it.

Yes, our example, even when they don't remember clearly, sets a pattern for the rest of their lives. No wonder that we as women, are saved by having children. It isn't just the having them, it is in raising them to be wonderful people, that we are made better!!!

I'm right there with you. I have been battling with the last 2 pounds for a couple of months. They go, then return. I'd really like to lose 5 lbs to give me a 3 pound range for maintenance but that is not happening. I will keep trying! And a few pounds are really small potatoes when you see the big picture of total pounds lost. I think maybe the difficulty w/ the end so close is actually good for easing into Maintenance. Good luck on your journey!

You are doing great, and you should congratulate yourself every single day! Those last few pounds come off slowly, and your body just needs some time to adjust. You will get there...just keep it up. It will happen. emoticon

Making Myself Do The Right Stuff--Healthy Habits,You Know?!!!

Friday, May 28, 2010

I revisited the 6 Healthy Diet Habits listed in Stage 2 of the SparkDiet Stages ---funny, my mindset thinks LIFESTYLE and not DIET anymore{ one of the IMPORTANT CHANGES I have made!] and I want to hit them all again---{for your info}
1-Control Portions
2-Eat the RIGHT stuff
3-Exercise Consistently
4-Drink WATER
5-Eat on Purpose
6-Find the unexpected Opportunities
I CAN DO the portions, exercise and find the opportunities to eat right. Eating the RIGHT stuff CONSISTENTLY,drinking 8 glasses instead of my usual 4 and eating on purpose I NEED TO PURPOSEFULLY Do MORE!!!
What challenges do YOU find for YOURSELF in this list of Healthy habits???? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the spark goodie and reminder: I used to sip my water but find it's hard to get in all of the water I need for the day, so now, according to my nutritionist's suggestions, I wait a half hour before and after to drink so that it doesn't dilute my digestive enzymes and try to drink a cup at a time. Also, to aid in digestion, I try not to eat 2 hours before going to bed so my body can absorb my nutrients. That's one good way to stay healthy and not to eat right before bedtime! Also, you can drink too much water and dilute your digestive enzymes so I drink one-third to one-half my weight in ounces of water, and if i I work up a sweat, drink 2 and a half glasses of more water. I regained my health after following my nutritionist's plans and drinking water is just a piece of the puzzle that helped me. emoticon emoticon Have a SPARKED memorial weekend!

This is a great reminder- thanks for posting!

I have let my portion sizes creep up again. I went and got our all of my measuring cups again. This needs constant vigilance!

I have slacked on the water. I don't know why I just did.. I can really see it in my face. The skin seems papery and at 53 thats not normal.. lol So I am going to strive for 10 glasses a day and be happy on the days I make it and if I fall short then hopefully I will at least get my 8 in.
Plus I snack not because I'm hungry but out of habit. I need to keep my hands busy.. I'm working on it and I know I will over come this habit.

Wow! I AM an EMOTIONAL EATER!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Yesterday and really THiS and LAST week have not been the best on my weight loss journey since I CAN"T WORKOUT!!! And I am seeing my BMR go slowly DOWN because I'm NOT EXERCISING! Bike injury-rt.leg totalled with bruising--but Healing now, rotator -cuff injury to rt. shoulder from lifting wts. and TODDLER too much-he's 30 lbs.! AND to top it off, when I get MAD, I can polish OFF ANYTHING!!! I thought well, I'm NOT an EMOTIONAL EATER because when I'm SAD or DEPRESSED, I DON"T EAT! But until yesterday, I didn't think emotions really had anything to do with ME EATING! WRONG!!! Now I know and hopefully, today will be a better day of choices.I have to REMIND myself--ONE OR TWO days is not going to PUT all the weight back on that I lost, but I actually WANT TO EXERCISE!!!Plus I want to SCREAM at the LAST 6 LBS. {like my toddler says!!!} because they WON"t come off!!!!
And how is YOUR DAY going?!!! emoticon emoticon

I've known I am an emotional eater for a long time, but until this year I haven't been willing to face it head on. Still not winning, but working on it!

Take good care of yourself. I have a rotator cuff injury, too. Physical therapy exercises helped too...but I have to do them about 3x a week to keep my shoulder strengthened. Don't worry so much about your weight loss while you're healing but try to eat healthy to heal better. My nutritionist suggested that I take digestive enzymes to help metabolize protein to aid in the healing process. Enjoy your time with your little one and before you know it you'll get back to your normal self. emoticon

I came to this realization last week or the week before.. lately they seem to be merging all together.. I would of never thought I was a emotional eater. Tuesday night it took all my will power to NOT eat several slices of toast slathered in butter.. It seems when my hubby and I get into it that's when the ugly carb craving Ronie comes out..
On the good side of this and least now we know ... right? so we have the control back and that's a good thing... So far my day is good.. my boss is giving me Monday off... sooooo cooool.... LOL

How much water are you drinking? Water is a HUGE contributor to weight loss. I find that people often spend too much time on finding the right calorie, nutrition, daily input and forget all about drinking enough water. If you are at a plateau, my suggestion is to bump up the water intake. If you are drinking 64 oz, try 96 oz for a while. Think of the water as a way to flush the fat. :)

I do believe that slow and steady wins the race (like the tortois).
I am learning that consistency in exercising (even when I don't feel like it) and recording everything I eat has helped me.
I rejoined Apr. 20 after being away from SP for 2 years. I have lost 9 lbs in the last 5 weeks. I try to get to the gym 3 times a week. When I can't go I walk my hills for close to 2 miles. I have gained energy and less back and knee pain.
I am determined to stick with it this time round.
One thing that discourages many is getting on the scale too often. Judge the weight loss by your clothing and how they fit now. Sometimes when our scale goes back up it can be water retention.
All the best as you continue your journey. emoticon

Betsy I'm so sorry that you are struggling with the last few pounds.. I know its frustrating.. Here is what I am doing and I hope it helps..

1. I set up my tracker so it tells me how much sodium I'm consuming.
This is huge for me because just this last weekend I went way over and gained a few pounds.. It took a few days to get it off again.. I can gain water weight real easy.

2. I vary the amount of calories I eat each day. If you total all the allowed calories you are allowed for the week. I total lowest end for me. then eat under on some days and over on other days.. so it still evens out to the same amount over a week it seems to kick start the metabolism into not thinking that its going to get the same fuel each day.
I really don't understand it but it works.. I usually track about 100 cals less than what I'm allowed because I want wiggle room.. I weigh and measure but I still feel that not all apples and oranges or other whole fruit is the same weight and so it can't possible be the same calories... same with other foods.. I have such a hard time loosing I need the cushion.

3. I vary my workouts. Some days I work out real hard other days I just get the bare minimum in. Usually I work out hard Monday thru Thursday. I might get a walk with Leslie Sansone in on the weekends but not always. My hubby and I get outside when we can and get some sort of exercise in then.

I hope you get lots of ideas.. I look forward to reading them.. At this point this is working for me but we all get in ruts where the pounds just wont budge.
and any help we can get is a bonus...

your just in a little rut.. You have so much energy and you are nursing a wounded leg. You will start loosing again soon. I know when I don't get my exercise in I don't gain and I don't loose. So as soon as your able to get moving again you will see the pounds come off as fast as they did before..
I bought a resistance ball to work on my abs.. its real pretty and is still sitting where I put it as soon as I pumped it up... lol a lot of good its doing me.. I will start using it.. SOON !!!! I have high hopes that it will help me trim my tummy..
Best of luck my friend, you have come so far and I know you can reach your goal...
