It's OK to Blow The Diet sometimes!!!!

I congratulated myself on bringing the lowfat spinach lasagna to the crop party last night{ for "those who are unfamiliar with the term --"crop party" --it refers to" cropping" which is "cutting " [ in scrapbooker's lingo] so a crop party- is a scrapbooking get-together!! Guess what I ate AFTER THE LASAGNA?? The chocolate chip cookies that were there-had only 2 ,at first-- . I continued scrapping the three hours away--our food theme was Italian night--my FAVE!! and didn't eat any more! Then,as we were cleaning up, there were 7 cookies left and part of a pizza sandwich. I SHOULD have let it go to WASTE! Instead, I didn't take it home, I let it go to my WAIST!!! And ate all 7 cookies and rest of the pizza sandwich {another fave!}!! So, I kept it OUT of the house ,but not my stomach!! I DID ENJOY IT! And WON"T weigh myself today!! I DID TRACK it and I know TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY!!!! We have permission to ENJOY OURSELVES AND OUR FOOD once in a while,even if it's not a healthy food choice!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    I've read articles here at SP that say 70% of successfully maintaining SPers follow the 80/20 rule: 80% of the time is healthy eating. But they do allow themselves treats 20% of the time. You just used up your 20% ;-) emoticon

    Ah, yes, those times that we aren't careful. But yes, this is a lifestyle change and there will be times when we do eat somewhat more. The trick is to keep those times to a minimum!

My youngest daughter "owes" me some chocolate chip cookies for Mother's Day. But I can be patient.

Lowfat Spinach Lasagna----Yummy Sparkrecipe!!

I tried the sparkrecipe for Lowfat Spinach lasagna and it was surprisingly GOOD!!! The prep time was about 35 min. and the cook time was 1 hour and 15 min. though I forgot about it when the timer rang--I was on the computer w/ SPARKPEOPLE!!!--- but it didn't burn it,just singed the cheese topping a little.---can't remember how long it cooked extra-maybe 30 min.? Anyway, i tweaked the recipe based on the comments and my individual preferences and it tasted really VERY GOOD! I added 1 tsp. basil + 2 garlic cloves for flavor and the salad spinner for the frozen spinach--everyone said it was too watery--didn't add ANY extra water{recipe calls for 1 cup of water}--and then put in food processor! Best of all ,though it says 315.6 cal. ,I tweaked it to 259.6 cal. using Classico Marinara sauce ,egg substitute,and Pictsweet 28 oz Family size of spinach -all of it-- to up the folate count! Pretty LOW CAL. for DINNER!! Hope you try it, you just might LIKE it!!!!     This sounded so good hubby and I went to the store bought all the stuff but he wanted Italian sausage, and I forgot the crucial Spinach.. The sausage adds the calories but we usually do brunch instead of breakfast and lunch on Fridays because we go out and I can get a salad.... its just easier on me. Any way I have the calories to spare today next time I will remember the spinach. Thanks for sharing.

Trying Some More Sparkrecipes!!!

I always seem to have a difficult time when it comes to dinner more than any other meal---although lately my snacks haven't all been as healthy as they should--so,I decided to get going on trying some more low calorie recipes for dinner. As Italian dishes are one of my faves,I thought I'd give some of those a try---Spaghetti Meatloaf, Lowfat Spinach Lasagna and also a chicken recipe[ as my toddler loves that meat the best-]Savory Garlic Chicken.Will do another blog when I have tried and rated at least one.
Four recipes I have tried that I recommend~~~{ I'll put out a Main Dish Cookbook when I get at least 10 tried recipes}
20 minute Chicken Parmesan{although it takes me 40 min b/c of veggies}----362cal/ 311-no butter
Honey Mustard Roasted Chicken------356.7
Turkey and Black Bean Sloppy Joes {more like chili but still good}-----199 cal.
Provencal Turkey Cutlets----185 { I found I had to eat 2 to be satisfied}
Hope this info inspires any Sparkers out there wanting to try recipes!!!!! emoticon

    I feel better in my body... this is a huge accomplishment for me.. I've always had a hard time getting up and was always looking for a place to sit down.. now I bounce up and never look for the nearest seat...

I am also doing things I never thought possible! I am jogging. I have been hiking. I am needing new clothes(hubby says I'm cheap)I really just hate shopping. I have tons of energy!

Well, I keep getting happier as I get healthier and I KNOW I'm healthy by the increase in energy and the FEEL of my body,but as I was doing the trivia, I came across the BMI question-Body Mass Index [OR How Much % Body Fat does one have] and I calculated my BMI on the site using ht./wt. and it came out to 23.1!!! My scale has been OFF 6 POINTS since I started Body Fat measurements!! Also note for any Sparker happening to look at my Nutrition/Fitness trackers--I am burning more calories than what it looks like on paper and since strength training burns LONGER but is not counted on the calorie differential chart, I know I have a higher calories burned than what it says.Plus I'm ALREADY at 1834 Starting Calories so,I don't hit my caloric range that often{even though I reset it to adjust for more calories burned}--1200-1650 b/c I am losing weight and I would rather lose it slowly and safely!!!Have a Happy day,Sparkers!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Is the 1834 how many calories you burn each day or is it how many your allowed to eat each day? I haven't done my bmi since I first started... I should check this out.. It sounds like you have a lot of these numbers figured out.. thats very cool... I'm just now wrapping my head around the bmr...LOL which isn't that hard it just took me a few minutes of quiet time....not something I get much of.
