What are you doing now? Sometimes, you have to just LAUGH!!!

Sunday, April 25, 2010

I asked my 2 yo the above question as I was starting to sit to write this blog, and he replied"I'm making a mess!!!!" ----Which was true--but not that bad--fishstick crumbs on the floor. But I thought about how many times he sees me get upset and I had to LAUGH and say "yes, you are making a mess ,but I'll help you clean it up!!" Those little ears are ALWAYS listening as well as little eyes are always WATCHING and TAKING IT ALL IN!!! it can be a little unnerving ,but then you have a BEAUTIFULLY BEHAVED ANGEL SON day like Friday--and you BEAM emoticonall over!!! At the doctor's office,h e did a GREAT JOB of playing w/ his ocean toys and SHARING them with another boy the whole time even when the boy had a temper tantrum and just started screaming, throwing his lil truck he had. My boy just continued playing. Then today,at church, a notorious bully came to take his ark away {it was a GIRL} and he just went to play with a different toy and didn't let it faze him. I was in church the whole time and Daddy later related this episode to me . Just PROUD as punch and happy the lessons of life are sinking in!!!! God has truly blessed me and I give thanks to HIM every day for my little boy and husband!! Have a beautiful day today,Sparkers!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

That is so great! Thanks for sharing that humorous story.
My 5 year old likes to make lots of messes by getting out her toys--and lots of them! She had some stacked crates in her room and called it her "put stuff onner" because she puts lots of stuff on them. Kids are so funny! emoticon

Thanks for sharing this wonderful blog. Being a mom helps us understand how God must feel when we get it right and share our "toys" or turn the other cheek. Great parenting!!!

Sometimes, it's HARD to......get ON the COMPUTER !!!!!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

As I'm trying to fit my blog in for the next day before I go to bed,one of my cats {a kitten my hubby got from the local shelter } is sitting ON the computer looking at me seemingly saying--what's more important than playing w/ME?{ as my scratched up hands and legs can attest to....}
Or my toddler, earlier in the day, saying Mommy ,come play w/ME!! No more computer and more loudly--the 2nd time!--Get off the computer!
Or my husband, saying I'll get a t-shirt that says SPARKPEOPLE so you'll talk to ME and pay attention !!
Have I been on THAT much? I'm just logging in my food....and chatting or commenting on friends' blogs or getting points or checking secrets or reports or keeping with streaks and goals or huddling or staying up too late to log on next day's blog to save time?! I think I HAVE gotten accustomed to the computer's face...gotta go to bed!!! Does this happen to you? What do you do fellow -sparkers? I did try a timer ON the computer but....Oh,does being on the computer LESSEN after you reach your goal weight? emoticon emoticon

it's interesting that you have that problem--I do too on and off again. Yes it's easier once you lose weight...(although I'm still struggling with how much to be on)--it is important though for the people in your life to not feel neglected. You don't really want your child growing up thinking that all they see is the back of Mom's head while she's at the computer (trust me, I feel that way about my dad)--you have to do what works for you--which means trying lots of different things until you find out what that is.
I have to be on lots in order to keep focused...but sometime I do just let it all go and just hang out with people--in the end, they are more important than any website. Maybe making an effort to w/o with hubby (walking, going to the gym whatever)--will help him feel not so neglected...and showing your toddler what you're doing--or letting him do parts--like clicking to spin the wheel or whatever--will help incorporate them into the computer-time so to speak--and hopefully it helps :)
It is hard--I feel your pain! I do not however, feel any sympathy for the cat. lol

I could be on here all the time actually so I try to limit myself to time during the day when I'm working...while we are slow I get to do a lot! And a little at night just to log my food for the day. Not so much on weekends...just to log food and to check in on people. But I get yelled at if I am on here too much. Just glad my son is away at school or I would never ever get on at home...he'd have it all tied up! Hope you have a great weekend!

I love Spark People, and not just the site but the people. I have gotten so much encouragement from it. But remember, Jesus died that we might live more fully. So sometimes we need to leave the computer and enjoy our blessings.

I get that too, especially from my 5yo. Remember though that the benefits your family will gain with a healthy you will pay off in the end. (At least that's what I tell myself) emoticon

My Third Month Sparkversary~~~Oh,Happy Day!

Friday, April 23, 2010

It was actually 2 days ago,but am getting 'round to discussing it! Who would have thought 3 months ago that I would be 16.2 pounds LIGHTER and47 points LOWER in total cholestrol count and MORE ENERGIZED than in many a year?!!!!!! I would Have NEVER BELIEVED it!!!!If you had said --you'll have 28 new sparkfriends and be on 16 sparkteams and be on the computer more HOURS than you thought possible navigating your way around until you mastered it,chatting away, counting calories, comparing reports of calories burned vs. intake so I'd KNOW ahead how many calories I could have to eat-not to just lose ,but to maintain--listing"secrets of success" to help others, reading countless interesting ,informative & helpful health articles,to blog almost every day and to KNOW what a BLOG WAS! I wouldn't have known what sparkgoodies are or how much fun(!) morale-building was with responding to others'blogs! God has blessed me with finding this site through another mom in my moms' club{which is ANOTHER ANSWER TO PRAYER} and given me the tools to use to lose the weight! Thank you God and Sparkpeople and ALL MY SPARKFRIENDS AND SPARKERS! It IS a HAPPY DAY!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Earth Day!--A Question....

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Is taking up less space by losing weight a form of "green"? LOL ---Anyway,yesterday was my 3rd month Sparkversary and actually,I've been off the bandwagon of good ,healthful eating by indulging in way too many unhealthy snacks! But what's interesting is MY MINDSET has been keep exercising and after a day or two ,the sweet tooth has been pacified ,it's out of the house---was baking treats for others---and I'm back on track! The scale has been kind-regained 1 lb. but will lose it again and eventually,FOREVER!!! Have a nice Earth day and be kind to our home where we ALL live! Going for my regular workout@ the gym!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy Earth day and Happy Spark day to you also! I always finish my day with one piece of dark chocolate, or a few pieces of chocoalte chips.
I noticed my grand twins's favorite programs were all about Earth day. It was fun to talk to them about it, and later their Dad, my son, found a snake outside, and that became another good lesson about Mother Nature. emoticon

Actually, not only are you taking up less space, but you are using fewer resources, so yes, losing weight is a form of going green! emoticon emoticon

What a good attitude to have. I think we all (or most of us anyway) indulge our sweet tooth, or over indulge occasionally. It is how we react afterwards (do we give up completely or do we recommit), that matters. You are recommitting. Let's do it!

Going For Our Morning Mile Run!

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Well, it's beautiful day in sunny California and we're going for our morning mile run from home to the park.My toddler is strapped in his jogging stroller and we brave the elements even if it's windy. We go for a mile and then walk the rest of the way to the park, burning calories on the Garmin the whole time. You didn't think I was not going to not KNOW the calories I burned ,did you?LOL!!!!! BTW, I put this as a secret of success, too, as it has really helped my WHOLE FAMILY to stay on track with exercising our hearts regularly and helping us BOTH lose wt. and "junior" LOVES the playtime.... emoticonHave a great day doing whatever exercise gets you MOVING!!!!

It is great that you are getting the whole family up and moving!
I have began to jog a bit during my walks...It is so empowering! I had this negative pattern in my head that if I never liked to run as a child, I wouldn't like it now.I have reversed that thinking and now am thinking I will add it as a goal. Sparkfriends like you keep me inspired!

I'm impressed that you are running. I'm thinking I just might give this a try once I get my stamina built up. I have weak ankles. I always have had weak ankles, I turn them every time I have to chase after something. I firmly believe that with regular walking I will strengthen the muscles and should be able to get a jog in and then build up to a run. I use to live in California. I lived in Mnt. View and San Jose. What part of California do you live in. My ex-hubby lives in San Diego. My daughter wants to visit him there.. So far we are all still in Beautiful Oregon. Only I'm just 50 miles from the boarder. I like it this way it feel like I'm in both states.
