The Incredible Shrinking Woman!!!!

Thursday, April 15, 2010

I got the idea for the title not from the movie ,but a nice compliment I got from one of the ladies in my yoga class this morning! She said"How much have you shrunk today?" At which time I happily told her" 16.2 lbs.!" and still shrinking til my doctor says to stop {about 9 more to go}---for my cholestrol to be normal. I told her" I'm going to use that compliment in my blog today on sparkpeople.com.Thanks! " Sometimes God provides our little nudge of motivation in the people we see every day and we just have to NOTICE.......Have a wonderful day sparking!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's excellent, there is nothing like hearing it from others, out of the blue to give you a boost. I love the title anyway, the movie was great :)

I ran into a friend I havn't seen in a little while and she looked at me and said "you getting thinner" and the look she gave me was of is this on purpose or have you been sick... I gave her a hug and said yes I am and I've been working very hard at it. That was a great feeling. Congrats Betsy on only having 9 more pounds to go.. I hope you will still be here when you have met your goal.. You can still track you exercise and write your blogs..LOL

Well,I bought it, I had to eat it....what OTHER excuses can I think of???

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Had to go to the store last night since I'm making low-cal.gingersnaps{ for our scrapbooking night tomorrow @ with the ladies at my hubby's work} and get some molasses. Can't believe it's 46 cal.per cookie ,but they are thin. Anyway,I had already finished my cal.count for today and was 1450 [but my fitness was WAY HIGH that day since I was JUMPING,CLIMBING,and RUNNING with my toddler at Jumping Jacks for 1/2 hr. and then on to My Gym where i follow him as he jumps, runs, and climbs! Plus I did 1/2 of my Soloflex workout and my metabolism is running high right now}. I passed by the end of the ice cream aisle--my downfall lately and did it! I purchased 2 Haagen-daz pints-milk choc. and dulce de leche----But limited myself to 1/2 c of the choc. Then ate 1c. of the Dulce de leche--Caramel mixed w/ vanilla. But GUESS WHAT?! Due to viewing my Single Daily Calorie Differential report,I was still under the calories so another pound left this morning {hence my need for the extensive explanation of how can you LOSE a lb eating ice cream?!!.} Anyway, it's my hubby's day off so we're going to RUN some where!!!! Have a GREAT day!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congrats on another pound gone. I think going back and forth within your calorie range (or just over or just below) can keep your body guessing and help you to continue to lose weight. I think most of us need a little ice cream occasionally. (I'd be having a little tonight if DH hadn't left it on the counter at the grocery store when he left. Hopefully, he can get his money or new ice cream back tomorrow.)

Have fun with your hubby!!! I need to track my food better...well at all, cause I don't. I wish we had a place here where I could bounce and jump with my toddler, we have a Bouncertown, but I can't jump with him. I took him there once, but he got overwhelmed and didn't want any part of it. I also need to start scrapbooking...I'm like 18 yrs behind LOL. Atleast I KNOW what I need to do...just need to get motivated to do it. Have a great night!!! emoticon

Since we are learning healthy habits for long term living that we can keep up forever, it is all about portions -- not about giving up something permanently!!!

LOL, sometimes theres no rhyme or reason. I figure, you were still in your calorie range, so you do what works for you. You can't give up everything. It's all in the portion and calorie range.

I like the Leslie Sansone DVD-WalkSlim!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Just bought the above listed DVD along with Coach Nicole's All Fired Up! DVD. I was looking to put some short routine in on the days I don't workout with strength training. Note:I do rest once a week. I've learned I have to keep ACTIVE each day and fit something in while my toddler naps. The DVD was easy to do and to follow.I did the Fast Start 2 miles and my legs did not feel sore the first time, but they're getting there. I am writing this late at night as I didn't get the mileage in til my toddler fell asleep tonight;was on SP the whole time he napped ----like Ronie says--I'm totally addicted to this site, too, but I have to cut my time on the computer.....Going to take a hot bath to relieve my sore muscles and then ,going to sleep .'Night!!!! emoticonTRUTH BE TOLD:I want my next award for sparkpoints,ok?!!! LOL---Betsy emoticon

I love my Leslie Sansone, I have the walk away the pounds one. I started off with the 1 mile.. then quickly went to the 2 mile. I have been taking it to work with me (not this week)
I can get a work out while my client takes a nap. I usually walk 2 miles a day and get my strength training in about 3 days a week but with the walks you use the weights I would think that would count towards strength training too..LOL I want to get the ones that progressivly get longer. then I can walk as far as I have time. My disc only has 15 mins and 30 mins. I want 45 mins and 60 mins next I guess that would be 3 and 4 mile walks.

Me too. I use her DVD's to get in my 10min. My toddler says "walk walk walk Mommy" and marches along with us. At other times she rolls around on the ground whinning, but I tell I just need my 10 min. and ask her to "dance" with me. I want her to see that some exercise is important. Sometimes I have to hold her and march with her on my hip. That doesn't last too long! I need my sleep too much. I tried doing it after she went to bed, but it didn't work for me. I tried it early AM before she woke up, that didn't work either.
Love her DVDs!
Last night we just chased each other up and down the hall for exercise and played hide and seek. That was fun!
baby steps... emoticon

I have a lot of Leslie dvd's. I really like them. I have short workout ones and long workout ones. I use which ever one I have time for. I even got a few of my friends using her dvd's.
I get crazy trying to get points too when I get close to the next trophy. It's it funny. Like it really means anything.
I am getting close to my next throphy too.
I try to work out when my little one is asleep in the morning. I work days full time, so I have to squeeze it in in early am or late pm.

Have a great day.

I have two of her DVDs and also use her on Exercise TV Free Video On Demand. I don't have the one you are talking about, but the other ones are good. I love that I can use them (after dark) when I can't get a workout during the day time (which is what I prefer).

After yesterday's blog,I feel Obliged to Give out Another"Secret"!!!!

Monday, April 12, 2010

I wrote about hitting a week-long plateau after the first month and how asking advice from fellow Sparkers and Sparkfriends is helpful since each person here has had a plateau at SOME point in their journey[I MAY be wrong!].TINATC26 came through for me when she suggested more cardio and it worked!!! Adding more morning runs[only 1 mile each day] on a regular basis is helping me to lose and I don't get as stressed any more.---Thanks Tina!!

Note:I used to run 1 mile 3-4x sporadically a week. Now it's more like 5-6x/wk. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the blog Betsy. I too am coming off a plateau and it scares the !$$%!#$! out of me. I'm terrified that it will come back. I didn't hear that "little secret" but I am seeing results now since I started walking every day. Now I know why. I just knew I had to do something, and now I know I'm doing the right thing instead of just winging it. LOL

Couldn't think of a 'secret'of success to add,then came up with 40!!!

Sunday, April 11, 2010

This morning as I woke up,{I must have 'Spark on the brain'--in a GOOD way!} I was thinking about how I changed my secret osf success entry last night b/c I hadn't entered the recipes yet{read my comments, you'll understand....} and started thinking of what else encourages me to lose weight, stick to the path of healthy eating, what are becoming my 'healthy habits'that are creating a better, more enjoyable life for me and the ideas started coming.....just didn't think there would be 40! For today's--so you don't have to look it up,if I've piqued your interest~~~Is REALLY Managing Your Portion Control~~I cut down slowly the amts. of certain foods I like{here it is dairy}but STILL EAT THEM so I don't feel I'm depriving myself--2% cottage cheese from 1 cup to 1/2 cup; Smart Balance Light margarine-from 1 tbsp to 1/2tbsp to 1 tsp.(now);ice cream-from 1 cup to 1/2 cup [I do eat the lowfat varieties and nonfat frozen yogurt].Amazing how the brain works when you give it a task and mine never seems to sleep! Hope this blog has been helpful to you today! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Balance is the key. Portion control on the not-so good foods, and increasing the portions of good-for-you foods.

I agree I feel portion control is key to loosing the weight. Thats why the nutrition tracker is so great for me I see what a portion is and how many calories it has then I decide just how much do I really want of it and make the adjustments.
