Happy Birthday to My Child!

Dearest Child of Mine~
How is it you are now 6? I remember when you were 3 and 4 and 5 like it was yesterday! I also can't forget when you were 0-1 and 2 and it seemed like FOREVER! You are getting smarter, taller, bigger {in general} and learning oh -so many things~how to swim, ride a bike, see underwater, whistle, wink,tie your shoes,play T-ball, reading . These are all greats feats of accomplishment! But what is so precious to myself and your father is how you say the most wonderful,heart-warming prayers when you pray at night to God. You are learning how to get along with other people ~sharing {even when you don't want to}. making friends, being friendly,thinking of others,helping,taking care of animals and your belongings,cleaning up after yourself.
I am learning to embrace each new year as a year of potential~what will we have fun learning together {we homeschool} and what friends will we make, what new foods we will try. As we say good-bye to Preschool and Kindergarten, we say hello to new wonders as a big First Grader!

WOW! I happen to finally {late @ night} catch up on all my e-mails {or even catch a glimpse of them!] and there it was~ Spark Page Site Notification~ "You are today's Featured Motivator!" How FUN and WONDERFUL to see! So. of course, I had to do a blog! But on what? Especially since I think it should be motivating...!~ Well,first I think it is polite to say THANK YOU to all the SP friends and members alike who voted for me ! And I want to say that this is HARD WORK and no, I do not get to get on SP every day as I would like. But I feel that if you keep PERSEVERING TOWARD YOUR GOALS, YOU WILL ATTAIN THEM EVENTUALLY!!! It might not be as FAST as we 'd like, nor in OUR IDEA OF TIMING, but as a born-again believer in GOD ALMIGHTY and His Timing , I have learned to just TRUST in Him and keep PERSEVERING!!! If you check my weight loss icon, you'll notice that I gained some of the weight back,but am working to get it off, and it IS coming off a little at a time. I am a stay-at-home mom who homeschools my child during the school year and is ALWAYS BUSY DOING something ,even when at rest! Right now, I am CAREGIVER to my hubby who is recovering from surgery so I am not on SP as much as in the past and yet I still try to keep in touch every couple of days[ that I found IS very IMPORTANT FOR ME }. I DO remember to log in my exercise {or at least keep my exercise log book near the treadmill and write in it EACH TIME I exercise so I can log it LATER n My Fitness Tracker}. I have learned to not get as upset when life gets in the way of trying to be on SP,but to roll with the punches and stay WITH IT! So, for today, STAY WITH IT~EXERCISE DAILY, do the BEST you can with the Food Tracking and if you fall off the wagon ,GET UP AND GET BACK ON and DON'T GIVE UP! YOU WILL GET THERE! JUST SAY "YES.I CAN DO IT AND I WILL!!!!" emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

  


A Little SP Nutrition Tracking ...

I am have been on SP now for at least 3 years and I still have difficulty tracking all three meals and all the snacks! I have tried groupings and that has helped ,but I decided since I cannot get ALL my meals tracked as I would like to {time and /or laziness or having to LIST each ingredient separately!] , I do what works for me~~ list breakfast and put the fitness in as soon as I do it . That has helped [and the fact I get it all done while my son is still asleep in the mornings!] {Did I mention I am a stay -at -home mom that homeschools?}
If you have ideas that have helped you,please let me know!

    I just joined Spark this week, and I'm also on Weight Watchers. I track both. I love the scanner Spark uses and use that to track as much as is possible. I love the breakdown of the nutrients and I think that's why Spark is so detailed. Once the food is input, I make it a favorite and then it's easy to find and input it. Maybe when you have time, you could input, scan, and save to favorites for future use. Sometimes its the specific time that's inconvenient. Hope this helps! emoticon

    Wow.... three years and it still doesn't get any easier??? That is one question I keep asking... why does this have to be so hard??? Tracking is time consuming and difficult. Like you I just don't have time to look up every individual ingredient and don't want to take the time to do a recipe calculator, so frequently I just "plug in" a calorie count that another member has submitted for what I think might be close to what what is my recipe but I'm sure more often than not I have underestimated the amount of calories I've consumed. IDK I wish I had the answer and I wish there were an easier way. I do use the "favorites" list for things I eat often especially for breakfast and lunch my meals don't change that often so at least there's that list. I will watch your blog to see if anyone else comes up with any other solutions.

I just finished writing a reply on the message board to "How have you done on SP so far? " It made me think back to BEFORE SP and how I was always sluggish and had no energy for my young child. I was so tired back then I literally would SIT on the stairs and go down one-at -a-time. Well, after losing the weight and maintaining and then regaining half of the weight due to a false pregnancy, I realize that NUMBERS AREN'T EVERYTHING!! I have MUCH MORE ENERGY NOW than I did when I first started and though I gained half of the weight back, I NEVER LOST THE ENERGY NOR MY BMR~Basal Metabolic Rate {how many calories burned during the day ]!!!! I eat way better than before though I still have my ups and downs . I emoticon way MORE water than I did before which helps in digestion and keeping my weight gain to a minimum. I find I HAVE TO EXERCISE every day if I want to keep with my weight loss.
A FUN NOTE~ Last Friday when my hubby took our family to a special park [in his old neighborhood where he lived as a boy] , it had been renovated so our child could run and play on all the specially-made to climb on sea creatures. I RACED HIM across the park and SLID DOWN THE SLIDES WITH HIM OVER AND OVER !!! What a JOY to celebrate playing together in the park playing with our child ~ and having the ENERGY TO DO IT!!!!!!
So, if your wt. loss isn't going too well or how you had hoped, try to LOOK AT ANOTHER ASPECT of what being on SP and tracking food and exercise can give you.
