Bootcamp begins

Sunday, January 04, 2009

Well, I'm starting bootcamp! SP has done wonders for me this last year, but my motivation to move and exercise has been somewhat lacking. Guess I figured that keeping up with all our preschoolers was exercise enough. I lost about 25 pounds, but would still like to shed 5 more. I re-started Curves and am serious about bootcamp. My eating habits fell down a bit over the vacation. I mean, when your grandchildren make you cookies, you have to eat some, right? I did give half away to the other grandchildren, so I didn't pig out TOO badly!

Day one of bootcamp is done, and I'm looking forward to the rest of it!

Life has a way of beating you down. I love my summers, because I get a chance to spend them in the peace & quiet of our church camp. This year, I've been away more than there. An emergency with our son & family in Maine has me very depressed. I can't get on SP at camp (no internet), so have to track foods manually, which I don't do consistently. I'm walking more, anyway! And on the bright side, though I haven't lost weight in the past 2 weeks, I've only gained 1/10 of a pound! I guess, considering the stress I've been under, that's a minor miracle! Paul says I'm having an ice cream day...... I scream, then meltdown!

145 at last!!!

Monday, June 02, 2008

FINALLY this morning I was 145! I'm halfway there! I weigh in on Friday or Saturday, but have been so close I've been checking every morning. Now I can get a new pair of jeans & capri pants, & won't have to keep hiking 'em up! I also can get into my too-snug summer shorts again! WHOOPIE! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Trouble, but not for long

I'm ALMOST to a goal of 145! Hopefully, by tomorrow's weigh-in I'll make it.
I've been SO close, but refuse to buy new jeans or capris until I reach 145.0 or below. I get close, then go up a pound or so. Maybe this time, I hope, I hope! I KNOW I'll make it sometime. emoticon

Mom's Memorial

Monday, May 05, 2008

Well, it went better than I had hoped. I actually held it together & managed to read my poem without bawling. It helped that my oldest granddaughter, Kaitlin, read a poem she had written, also. She's only 9, but has wisdom beyond her years.

We first went to the cemetery (in the pouring rain) and had a service. My sister had bought roses for each member of the family to place in the grave around the urn. Mom's great-grandchildren, grandchildren, children & spouses placed a rose there. As we were doing that, a bird broke into song! I said, "Mom's singing to us!"

We then went to the church & gathered in the parlor until time for the service. It was very nicely done! Rev. Henry did a fine job. Afterwards we got to catch up with friends & relatives from near & far. It just seems so final, but also was very comforting. Good grief, I'm going to miss her!

I'm so proud of you. I'm happy for you that it is over - and you can begin your journey of living with your mom within you.

I hope that you will feel her presence within your heart and hear her in your head (that's what Emma says, and now I hear my mama there) and that wonderful memories will permeate your life so that you can share her wonder with your family and us.

I fell apart after the memorial, so don't worry if you do. It's a journey - and it's not linear.

We're always here for you -

Heart's love and hugs,

PS thank you for the goodie - I will continue to pray for you!

I'm glad that you made it through your Mom's memorial service and that you shared it with us. It's sounds like it was absolutely beautiful and touching. It's also sounds wonderfully comforting to be surrounded by your family sharing that difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. emoticon

It sounds like it went very well and was touching. That is sweet that your granddaughter read a poem. What a wonderful thing to do! I am glad for you that you were also able to read a poem. That can be an emotional time...good for you! I hope you are feeling at peace after the memorial. Blessings to you, Jem emoticon
