Back Where I Started... :(

Monday, December 30, 2013

So... it's been 3 yrs since I joined SP, and quite awhile since I wrote a blog. When I joined, I weighed 169 lbs. I'm 5'3" and every pound definitely shows. I lost 30 lbs and felt SO good. But now I've gained nearly all of it back and I don't feel healthy anymore. I've felt very 'blah' and down on myself this past year. I've had to buy larger clothes again and even my 'oversize' tops are snug across my belly. I've been neglectful toward SP and my SP friends. I think I was ashamed that my weight wasn't going down anymore, it was going UP, and I didn't want anyone on here to know.

I want to blame it on several stressful factors including my mom's Alzheimers and having to put her in a nursing home, missing my son's big church wedding due to being iced in at the Dallas airport, my doctor always telling me I need to lose weight which makes me feel like the weight I do lose doesn't count for much, etc. sigh... But I suspect it's because I got lazy, I love food, and I love to eat.

What it comes down to is this - yesterday I started over. I hope to get back on track and also spend more time on SP than I have in a long time. I must say I feel so much better by writing this blog and 'getting it out there'. Have a great week my SP friends!

I am in the same boat - but guess what - you are 20 lbs lighter than me, I had gotten down to 160 2 years ago and now back up to 202 - 11 lbs lighter where I started then.
So at least you have that going for you.
Lets do it this time. Not stopping not letting events own us. Lets become who we should have been by now!

Try Lifting Potatoes

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Okay, so far I have lost 20 pounds. But I was SO proud when I hit the 20 pound loss that I headed for the grocery store. No, not for grocery shopping. I wanted to remind myself of how it had felt to carry around an extra 20 pounds. I went straight to the vegetables and picked up two 10-lb bags of potatoes. Wow!! A real eye opener on just how heavy that extra 20 pounds had been. No wonder I'm feeling SO much lighter already. LOL...

emoticon 20 lbs. is a lot of weight. Congratulations on getting rid of all that excess weight. I can see where not having to carry that extra weight around frees up energy for other things. And having the image of 2 10-lb. potato bags makes it real. Keep up the good work! emoticon

This is a great idea! It's important to remind ourselves of how far we've come so that we can stay motivated to continue. Great job on the 20lb milestone!

Congratulation on the 20lb, by now it should really starting showing. You are really moving a long.

That is an awesome idea. I always try to visualize pounds loss in the sticks of butter off my body - 10# = 40 sticks of butter melted away. But next time I'm in the store I'm going to pick up a 10# sack of potatoes for a real wake up call. Thanks for the idea.

Funny I was just talking about this with my boyfriend last night! I told him about picking up a 10 lb bag of potatoes and that I had lost 5 of them, he said wow that is a great comparison! It really does put it into perspective huh? Congrats on your weight loss and new healthy lifestyle!
