Rivers and roads lead people on. ~Georgia O'Keeffe

Life is flowing and continuous, it is full of crossroads, tributaries, and sudden bends. To live is to travel, and navigable space attracts us. We want to follow the road or the river to find what lies around the next bend or just over the next rise. The mere fact that they exist at all seems to tell us that we should follow them.
No one has ever lived our lives before us. This moment we are in space and time that have never been traveled. Many past events have prepared us for this moment. We may often feel as though we were following a track that has been laid out for us, but at other times we feel as though we are strapped to the nose of a rocket, plunging through space where no one has even been.
Then, at times (and we may wish they were less rare), we become one with our path, immersed in our lives unquestioningly. This is the condition we prefer; when the river that leads us through life simply flows.

I will endeavor to accept my life as it is taking me where I need to go.

This is an excellent blog. We definitely all have things in life we'd rather not have to deal with, but that's not the reality of the situation. It's a matter of accepting the things we cannot change, changing the things we can and having the wisdom to know the difference. That's where prayer and faith come into play.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

SnowCare for Troops seeks are volunters

Saturday, January 14, 2012

As the snowflakes began to fly over Southwestern Pennsylvania, those serving in the military may worry about finding someone back home to brave the elements and clear snow from their driveways and sidewalks this winter.
In its second year, the nonprofit program SnowCare for Troops is seeking local volunteers interested in joining the nearly 1,000 folks who have already pitched in to provide free snow removal services for military families across the country.
"When a loved one is serving away from home, having the added burden of snow removal lifted from the shoulders of the one left behind is a priceless gift," said Project EverGreen Executive Director Cindy Code, whose nonprofit spearheads the program.
Those interested in supporting the cause can do so by offering free snow removal to a few neighbors; loaning snow removal equipment to volunteers; donating money or other goods to off-set snow removal costs; and referring friends and military families to sign up for the program.
Visit www.projectevergreen.com/scft or www.bossplow.com/snowcarefortroops to learn how to support the cause.
It only takes a short time and can make a world of difference in the life of another person. I know that I felt great and energetic after cleaning sidewalks and cars this morning for several people in my neighborhood and getting my walking in. Thank God that I am able.
Have a wonderful weekend. Be safe in everything you do.
Blessings, love and hugs,
Helen

You are awesome Helen! This is a great idea! We have something that was instigated here, but for people who were shut ins or physically unable to do their own walks. The city called them snow angels and would recognize anyone helping out by publishing their names in the paper. They were trying to encourage neighbours to help each other out.
I hope this wonderful idea spreads far and wide.

Memory is the power to gather roses in winter. ~ Anonymous

What a marvelous capacity I have to capture and savor the bliss of past moments. They serve to comfort me while I am enduring the pain of the present. However, it's this present experience that has called me to attention. Within its context I'll be challenged to tackle the lessons for which past memories have prepared me.
Notwithstanding the comfort of the past, I'll do well not to hang on to the past memories unrelentingly. Only by flowing with the present and absorbing how these events punctuate my life, can I grasp the full experience that my life offers. There are too many people who live half-lives, and thus find half-joys because they fail to give up the past for the full measure that is offered in the present.
Fortunately, I am blessed with the power to live in the here and now, or in the past, if I so choose. Freedom of choice is the special gift of the human condition.

I will continue to appreciate my gift of choice today and linger in the past only as it benefits the better part of the present.

PRAISE THE LORD...great news on Dennis...latest update

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Monday, January 9, 2012 10:49 PM, EST

Hi Everyone,

Such a day we've had!!! All I can say is.....God is soo good I almost can't take it!! hahaha but I WILL and just say THANK YOU LORD!

Den had an MRI of the brain and a CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis today as well as 3 doc appts. Oh...and he won..we drove home tonight instead of tomorrow morning :)

1. MRI showed surgical removal of 2 tumors PERFECT---still gone! Also showed 1 tiny spot that is "suspicious"... per radiologist that is, but per Radiation Oncologist AND neurosurgeon he is an "alarmist" haha. They think it its most likely nothing, but will watch it and IF it's still there or at least hasn't gotten smaller (its only 3 mm now) by his Feb 20 appt, they will do a cyber knife procedure and get rid of it! So, we may not be considered "cancer free" in the brain but we're darn close!!!

2. Now, we really didn't expect that this brain surgery/infection/craziness would actually be 100% complete now did we? hahaha well.....it isn't. Neurosurgeon started taking out the sutures from 2nd surgery and of course said "uh-oh". He doesn't like the way it is healing. Not surprising .... Den's whole body has been compromised with cancer, infection, and drugs as well! We go back on Jan 19 and at that time when he checks it out he wants the plastic surgeon there as well because he thinks the plastics guy is going to have to do another surgery on his head to redo the wound closure! From what they say, that's just a little surgery. The only question is this......Is their definition of "a little surgery" is the same as mine!

3. The CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis showed absolutely NOTHING!! That tiny spot they "assumed" was CA..was not. It is no longer there. It had to be a pocket of infection!!!

In my mind we got such incredible. miraculous news I want to scream! Even with probably or possibly more surgeries, there is no new cancer, he is beginning to bounce back from the hell he has been in this fall, and IF there is a little CA left in the brain there is a very easy fix.... outpatient cyber-knife.

4. ALL DOC'S GRANTED PERMISSION FOR US TO GO ON OUR TRIP TO JAMAICA THIS FEBRUARY 25TH!!!! We booked it last summer. So, what does that tell you about what they saw today huh???? Even with the couple of hiccups!

I am so happy I could ramble on and on!

Love to all,

Jo

All I am going to say, as I have tears of happiness and gratitude running down my face, is THANK YOU, FATHER, FOR THE MIRACLE OF LIFE AND THE MANY BLESSINGS YOU HAVE BESTOWED UPON DENNIS AND JO!!!
Positives and blessings beyond comprehension at the moment!!

Focus

Monday, January 09, 2012

Sometimes providence steps in where we fear to tread. The Lord has interesting ways of helping us focus on the things we already know we need to do, but have put off out of fear or apathy. If we listen, He will tell us when to move forward. When to hold back. When to let go. All we have to do is open our hearts to the signs that are all around us.

As I start into a new week, I will take time to open my heart and listen to what the Lord is telling me!!! I will slow down and not just hurry through the week. That will give me time to do what the Lord is telling me also.

Have a wonderful week and do not be afraid to try something new and stay focused. Thank you for supporting me and encouraging me always.
Blessings and hugs,

The more I thought about the teacher interview I had on Friday, the more I hope and pray this is where God wants me to be, it seems to be a job that will fill in many of the missing blocks I have in my educational training...It restoreth my soul......
