I had my blog finished and it went into cyber space along with many others. I am going to try again, but I am lacking time at the moment so it may be hit and miss and not make much sense. I received a phone call from my DD's wonderful neighbor early this morning letting me know that Richelle's garage door was open. I called her to see why, jumped into the Explorer, and drove over to see what was happening. An umbrella that had been standing next to the garage door had slightly opened and had fallen just into the edge of the path of the electric garage door. When it sensed something there, it just opened back up rather than continue closing...a great safety feature especially with the weight of a double garage door. While I was there, I went ahead and did my Bootcamp Day 6 video with Coach Nicole. I was revilatized and ready to take on the world. I am enjoying the exercising and finding it is getting much easier everyday. I had never used the stability ball before this bootcamp, so I am finding it to be a challenge for me. Even some of the exercises I haven't done in 25 years...but I remember them and I modify what I need to. I thank God for Richelle's neighbor who got me moving early this morning.
I just received a phone call from a friend and need to finalize this blog as I need to get myself moving again. I was even comfortable and was thinking about taking a short nap.
However, God needs me elsewhere today. I am asking for prayer for six families and a business who lost everything in a multihouse fire in Carmichaels, PA (two blocks from my DD's house, 8 miles from me). Everyone got out of the three apartment houses to safety as well as all their animals, but they have nothing left but the clothes they had on. One gentleman didn't even have on shoes or a coat as he had been asleep, was awakened by a neighbor and just went outside. Another neighbor gave him a jacket and shoes. It was 7* outside last night with the wind chill. The wind was blowing horrifically which firefighters say helped spread the flames so rapidly. Flames, shooting over 30' in the air, could be seen from miles away for more than an hour as firefighters from at least seven fire companies fought to get the blaze under control. Six families lost everything they had including their cars as they weren't allowed to move them from the scene...parked on street in front of the houses but were only about 10-50 feet from the inferno. One firefighter slipped on ice and was treated and released from hospital. These families were actually blessed in the fact that no one was seriously hurt or killed in the blaze. Thankfully the owner of a pet grooming shop on the first floor of one of the buildings was still there working and was able to get all the animals out safely, but she also lost everything. I can not imagine the suffering these families are going through...no homes, nothing but, praise God, each other!!!
Anyway I am off here and gathering up clothes, household items, toys, food, etc to drop off at our Salvation Army for them. They are handling the collection drive for them. Thank you to our teams for having challenges to clean out closets, cupboards, etc. as I have many things already in boxes and ready to load into the Explorer. I will continue gathering until I have the SUV filled. We are pack rats and have accumulated way to much...this is the perfect time to share our bounty. I also have a stove and two refrigerators all working but stored in our garage. Maybe someone will be able to use them too.
I may not get back on for a while today as I am really needed elsewhere. This is another reality check for me and again shows me that God does work daily in our lives so that we can help others. Praise Him for small communities where people are willing to help one another as this is what saved the lives of everyone last night. Several neighbors across the street saw the smoke and flames and went knocking on all the doors until every apartment was empty. Everyone was standing outside when the police and first fire truck arrived. (F.Y.I.: the new municipal building which houses the police department is only separated from the burnt houses by one house. The new fire department is only two block blocks away.) God does continue to work in our lives creating miracles and bringing us all closer together. PRAISE HIM!!!
God bless you.
Love and hugs,
Family and friends
Blessings all around
All the "junk" and "too big" and "not worn" clothing I have found new homes for...thank you my friends at spark people for having these gathered.
Firefighters, policemen and those you don't think about and thank daily but are there when needed. Remember to smile and thank them for the great job they do.
Blessing to numerous to list but I am thankful for them all.
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!!! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!
