MOMMA IS SPILLING THE BEANS!! MAYBE JUST A FEW!

Thursday, July 15, 2010

**I saw this on various blogs, so, I thought, why not! Ready or not – here comes Momma -- Hat and All!

emoticonWhere are you from?
Born and raised in Central Wisconsin!

emoticonDo you have any kids?
One son who is now 17 – but soon to be 18! Yikes, emoticon does that mean I’m ??? old!! Where did those years go??? He was just 8 or 9 and I was…………

emoticonWhat is your occupation?
Legal Assistant for the past 30+ years at the same Law Firm! Wow – that sure seems like a long time, doesn’t it? No wonder I feel like I need a super vacation!

emoticonAre you married? For how long?
Yes and hmmmm….I’ve been with my husband since 1979, but married a bit later.

emoticonWhat is your favorite food?
Tomatoes!!! And, red licorice! If there is one snack food that I have a problem with – there it is!! Love that licorice!!

emoticonWhat is your favorite color?
Red!!!!! But, in clothing, I love black and turquoise emoticon or black and red combinations! Don’t get me started on clothing – I love to mix, match and shop! emoticon

emoticonDo you have any brothers or sisters?
One sister who is 5 years older than me! But, yet, how come I’m the one that looks older?
Go figure! emoticon

emoticonWhere is your favorite vacation spot?
Home!!! I’ve often thought I would love to go to Mexico – but, I’ll take a nice and relaxing day at home with no pressures or stress anytime! I’m one of those “stay-at-home vacationers” who just likes to be able to relax--seeing as how our family is usually on the go so much.

emoticonWhat is your favorite movie?
Any movie that Richard Gere acts in! Ever since the movie, “American Gigolo” years ago, he’s got me!

emoticonPick just one word to describe yourself.
Down-to-earth!

emoticonHow did you meet your significant other?
At a dance club back in the good ole’ disco days!

emoticonWhere is the last person you kissed?
He is in the room with me as I’m typing right now! Wanna guess who it is? emoticon

emoticonWhat are you looking forward to?
Retirement!!!! Or, if I win some contest or lottery—sooner! But, then I’d have to enter some contest or at least buy a lottery ticket to do so, and, seeing as I don’t do either, guess it’s back to retirement for me! I'd love to devote more time to doing volunteer work! I used to do alot more, and I really miss it!

emoticonWhat music do you like?
Ready??? Techno, disco, instrumental, modern pop, Christian rock, classical, country – I love it all!

emoticonAny hobbies?
Right now, I’d have to say “Sparkin!” I super love it as it keeps me active with positive friends and I thoroughly enjoy it!

emoticonWhich is your favorite gemstone?
Probably, ruby or opal.

emoticonIn which month were you born?
June!

Ta da—there you have it! So, after reading my replies – whatcha think? Did I surprise you with any answers, or do you know me through the Teams and posts, and, you can say to yourself, “Yes, that sounds like about what I thought she would be like.”

To sum it all up and, after reading my own replies, yes, I’m an average, fun-loving person that loves to stay close to home near my family, I’m comfortable being who I am and I don’t try to pretend to be someone that I’m not. I’m just me! And, a me that has a problem with licorice! Gotta do something about that one! Oh well, if licorice was the worst thing I’d have to deal with in my life, I think I’d have it made. But, there’s always those challenges that pop up – sometimes good and sometimes bad – but isn’t that part of what makes life interesting! Take life as it comes and enjoy it!

I wish everyone a positive, stress-free, interesting and wonderful week and weekend ahead and by chance.............................
if you see red licorice, just think emoticon before you get hooked like me emoticon

Have a great one everybody and emoticon to all!

    Hi Cheryl
I really don't think there any surprises to me, I think it is nice to get to know some one a little better. I guess we all of something like your licorice, mine might be gummy bears and I stay out of the isle, but the real tempting one would be fresh peanut butter.
I would have thought that you are a real family person and that you really love to share and motivate Spark people.

We have some things in common like the red licorice problem. I can't get near Red Vines. I swear they call my name when I walk past the candy isle.

I listen to Disco when I workout, but I love any kind of music.

Thursday's Thinking!

Thursday, July 08, 2010

Happy Thursday everyone! emoticon

Well, I think I've entered my "slow down" mode here at Sparks for a bit due to doctor appointments, procedures, etc. And, before I forget, I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughtful and caring comments on the same. It means alot to me and you'll never know how much! emoticon

But, today is one more appointment and I hope we can get something scheduled and going as to the actual procedure so we can move ahead here in our home. Enough worries and waiting -- we're ready -- let's do it! Plus, then we move on to another specialist next week in the pulmonary department of the medical field! More testing, more procedures and, you got it, more emoticon

But, we refuse to let it get us down! We're going through all the necessary steps and we'll make it! I just wish both me and my hubby were a bit more patient with this sort of thing, but we're too high-strung, I'm afraid, and it makes it almost impossible for us, but we're doing it and that's what counts! We're hanging strong and together!

Also, it seems that I'm going to be starting further testing after yesterday's doctor appointment, so I think and feel like we'll be tackling one test and procedure for one of us or the other for awhile. I'm just so thankful that we possibly have caught a few problems in their early stages and we can take care of things at this stage of the game -- rather than waiting until......

But, ya gotta look at the bright side and lighten up situations sometimes! I asked the receptionist at the hospital yesterday if they are accepting applications, as I told her I might as well work there -- and, mainly, would I be eligible for any sort of discount for their services due to being an employee, as it seems I'm there every other day! She just laughed and said, I wish! Oh well, I tried! emoticon

So, no more medical talk -- just that I want to say thanks again to everyone for being such great and understanding friends, I'll still be here, I'll still be active, but possibly a bit less and on a few less teams for awhile, but I'm here in spirit and I'm sending all my care, friendship and hugs to each of you until life balances out a bit and I can be up and running again with everyone!

Remember, it's pretty tough to hold Good Ole' Momma down, give me a challenge and I'll give it the best I got!!!! emoticon

emoticon everyone and keep smiling! Never give up -- never stop believing -- and never give up hope! I know we can do it in our home and I know that you can too!!

emoticonAnd, for those that read my previous "party blog", if you're interested in that hat, give me a yell, as I think my Mom saved it and I'm not going to wear that one again emoticon

IF YOU NEED PARTY IDEAS? JUST NO HAT FOR ME PLEASE!

Friday, July 02, 2010

TGIF everyone! The holiday weekend is here and I hope everyone has a safe, fun and wonderful one at that!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm not sure how many of you have seen the new picture that I have posted on my main page of my Mom and me but, in case you haven't, here's a bit of an explanation for those that have seen it and here's quite the idea for how to party -- and a party that I've never been a part of or have even thought of having! Our family is dealing with a variety of worrisome and medical issues right now, but we didn't allow those issues to hamper our day! Lay back, relax, laugh and enjoy (and even see how far your watermelon seed goes!)

So, ready????? Bethany sure is -- acting goofy for the camera -- but what a cutie! No, guys, she's spoken for too!

It begins with my Mom's birthday in April! My niece is very sentimental and a definite tradition lover! And, she remembered how Mom talked about tea parties that she used to have when she was a small girl and that sort of thing. So, my niece came up with an idea -- as part of Mom's birthday gift, my niece wrote a poem and an invitation to a Special Tea Party for our family. And, when my Mom read it, talk about smiles! It was so neat!!! We then discussed when we should have this dress-up tea party and decided on Father's Day!

So, my Mom found together the dresses, gloves, hats -- you name it -- that she had saved from my grandmother, and other relatives grandmothers, etc., so we had quite the selection to pick from! Everything was laid out on the bed and we had a blast trying on these outfits and hats -- and laugh -- yikes, who knows how to keep a hat like this on their head! I need help with this one! Give me those white lace gloves -- nope, they didn't match the rhinestones on the dress I picked out! How about those??? Hand me that hat, does it match my dress better -- talk about laughing! Here we had myself at the age of 50, Mom at 80, my sister at 55 and my niece at 30 -- acting and feeling like we were back being 10! But, it was so much fun just to do something totally out of the norm and just have fun with it all!

So, once we all selected our "outfits" and my sister picked a few choices for her daughter-in-laws who weren't there -- off to planning! And, plan they did! This was a Mom and Bethany project and I was so in awe at all the hard work, cooking, planning that they did! Finger sandwiches, petit fours, tea with antique cups and tea pots, decorations and tablecloths all for the occasion and our Garden Tea Party!

So, ready to see how my family parties??? Like I said, this is something we've never done before but sometimes you have to go out of that norm and just have fun however you'd like! You only live once and, honestly, I hope I'm done wearing that hat -- but, here we go!

Mom and me waiting for the guests to arrive! Hat and all! I so love Mom's hat -- I teased her all day about wanting to spin that bow on top of her head -- I called her the "twirly bird" all day! Isn't she cute!

Yup, my nephew, Tyler, has arrived and who wouldn't want to give Mom a hug? Or maybe he wanted to spin that bow too -- I'm not sure!

Food is ready!

And here is Mom and Bethany who put in all the hard work for the day! They had awnings set up in our yard and the weather was beautiful and everything was ideal for the occasion!

So, up and at 'em, Dad, we're heading outside -- it's party time!

The guys are ready -- suspenders and all -- it was fantastic!

Let the party games begin! Have you ever done a "Watermelon Seed Spitting" game? Here it is! You take a watermelon seed in your mouth and spit it out as far as you can on the white paper and whoever's seed flew the farthest wins!

Did you win, then pick a prize off the prize table that contained everything from old tobacco tins, embroidered dishtowels (never used), glass dishes and serving trays--everything from years ago and things that my Mom had saved through the years and held memories from the past.

We also played a few other games and sipped on peach tea through the afternoon!

But, then we come to the family pics!

Since it was Father's Day -- what is more appropriate than my Dad being surrounded by the ladies!

And, check out those handsome guys--WOO HOO!! -- Love those suspenders and hats! Sorry, ladies, they're all spoken for!

And, then we come to the family picture! Do you see a difference from the one taken at my parents' wedding anniversary?

AND now!

Hmmm.....not sure which one looks best -- but I do know this, we brought those smiles, we had fun and we showed and shared the family love in a rather unusual sort of way, but -- when you see this

You know it was all worth it! I'm still not sure about the hat thing emoticon

And, oops, I have to edit my blog as I forgot to add a guest or two! And, here they are!

Mom & Dad's little "tail", Lilly!

My Kasey Bug who was, of course, under the food table -- she loves when someone drops a snack or two! And, sorry -- I don't seem to have a picture of Bud at the party, but, trust me, he was there too! When we party, we even include our "tails" -- but, nope, just in case you're wondering, we didn't put hats or suspenders on them!
Lucky guys! emoticon

FRIDAY--SOMETHING NEW HAPPENING NOW?

Friday, June 25, 2010

emoticonHappy Friday everyone!

I wish I could say I'm feeling emoticon today, but I think it's more of a emoticon day!

My dh wasn't feeling well last evening and not again this morning, so he stayed home from work. I thought good thing I was home today, so he could just rest and we'd have a quiet and relaxing day to just lay back while I could keep an eye on him to make sure everything was quiet and he was comfy.

But, when he woke up this morning and got out of bed, I saw something super suspicious on his leg and said, "Get dressed, we're going to the doctor and NOW!" He, of course, said it would all be okay and didn't want to go. So, back to being the take charge Momma emoticon I sternly said, NOW! (But with a emoticon at the same time.) And, I wouldn't accept no ifs, ands, buts or otherwises! Not today -- no compromising with Momma today! Start the car -- we're going!

And, here we are at the hospital -- they are now running further tests on him and I'm in the waiting room using the Hospital's computer until he returns to his room. I'm so thankful hospitals have computers available as I know that today I need to read and see all the positives here while waiting. Otherwise, I know I'd be emoticon more than I already am and thinking about the "what could it be", "is it something else", etc. But, instead, just as before -- no matter what it may be -- we gotta stay emoticon We trust our doctors and I know that he is in good hands, so it sure helps -- but what a way for him to spend a Friday! He has been through a lot these past weeks and has heard diagnoses that have shocked and scared us all. But, yet, this morning he made the comment while we were waiting for the doctor to come in, "See, you turn 55 and this is what happens!" I told him, "Hey, what do you think happened to me when I turned 50?" And, he just smiled!

Regardless of age, regardless of location and situations, we have to stay positive and keep that sense of humor going -- and, most of all, stand strong, together and keep on moving forward one step at a time.

I also wanted to thank my fellow leaders/co-leaders on the Teams that I lead, for keeping our Teams active and motivated--which I so love to do--until I can get my complete emoticon back. I miss my emoticon and I know I still have it, don't you worry, it's still here, I just need to direct it in a different and loved area of life more now than ever!

So, keep your emoticon going everybody and love life to the fullest! And, same with your sense of humor -- share a emoticon or emoticon with another today -- and I think you'll enjoy the one you get back in return!

Love the day everyone and hugs to all!!

I haven't been on SP so much lately. Depressing that I am gaining weight and everyone else does so good. But you really put it in perspective. It is all about the people, the caring and sharing. You are one special Momma and you helped get me through a really tough time. It is still tough but my outlook is better. You are one of the strongest people I have come across. Hope for the best and cope with the rest...so many thoughts and prayers are with you..stay strong.

I think your positive attitude is as important as any medications / surgery that will follow. I watched my dad, who was given a month to live last year, ignore that diagnosis and find other doctors. One year later, less an ear, he is alive and cancer free. I don't know what your husband is specifically going through, but being there for him and being an advocate means a great deal. I will be sending good vibes your way.

Well you certainly have a good attitude! But I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. I'm praying for your DH too that the doctors have wisdom and will figure everything out and all will be well again. Remember God will carry you through this valley and He will never leave you or forsake you. He loves all of you. I'll be praying for your son too. I'm sure this is hard for him too. Remember to take care of yourself and keep us posted.

I keep praying for your husb and your family Cheryl!! I love how you can be so positive, I wish I could be the same but I've changed alot since our family struggles. I know how men can be stubborn but I think he'll understand you love him.

    Hi Cheryl
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband. He is fortunate that he as you that cares enough to get to the hospital. It is true and not sure why, but men are hard to convince they need to see a doctor.
Hopefully by this time you have some awareness of what is wrong.

IT'S AMAZING WHAT A KEYBOARD CAN DO!

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

emoticonHi Everyone! It's Tuesday and I'm just typing away here at the hospital while my hubby is having yet more tests! But, all is well and it's great to rule out a few other complications from the latest diagnosis -- so it's a "let's rule that one out" sort of day! But, again, here we are and here we are emoticon Staying positive and doing it together! Step by step!

But, I just wanted to send a huge emoticon to everyone who has so supported me with those positives! Even though I could be feeling emoticon and on my own right now, even in a waiting room, I know that I can emoticon knowing that my special friends are here for me and all I have to do is "plug myself in" emoticon -- yup, have laptop -- can travel -- and know that you are all here to keep passing along those same emoticon to me!

Even when life's uncertainties can give us those worries and doubts, it's always wonderful knowing that there are super understanding, caring and so appreciated friends here that can make a difference in our lives and they don't even realize they're doing it! So, in case I haven't said it lately, here's a few super huge emoticon and I thank you from the bottom of my heart to help me keep smiling through it all! You are all super special to me and, even on-line, I can feel your friendships coming through my keyboard and I hope you can feel the same from me!

Have a great Tuesday! And, keep emoticon and passing it on to others! You're making a difference in so many others' lives, so keep it coming everyone! You're all doing emoticon
