To my Cracked Pot Friends

Thursday, October 22, 2009

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a polewhich she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."

"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

To all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and thank you for providing the flowers in my life.

THERE ARE FOUR FUNDAMENTALS OF A POSSITIVE ATTITUDE:

Monday, October 19, 2009

1. ALWAYS BE EXCITED.
Get excited about life, work, and people. Find excitement in what others find mundane. Remember that life is dull and boring to dull and boring people. Life is exciting and exhilarating to excited people. There will be times that you have to pretend it is more exciting then it seems, but thatís what it takeís to maintain that mentality. Everything does get old if you let it. Learn to breath new life into what is important to you. Keep what is so special, special.

2. DONíT MAKE EXCUSES.
Many people rant and rave how bad life is. They wait for enjoyment, happiness and success, and never find it. Get in the habit of getting things done. Make it a point to take responsibility for your life. You can be a victim of circumstance or a master of circumstance. This is a choice -your choice.

3. ALWAYS BE UP.
To always be up is to take life as it comes and make the very best of it. Be up about life, people and challenges. To be up, is to see the upside of all that is around you.

4. MAKE A TOTAL COMMITMENT.
Make a commitment to your life and to becoming all that you can become. Commit to your responsibilities. You will be known as the person to count on.
A total commitment gives you the courage and energy to see things through.

    These are all great, but have you ever had a friend that was over the top with the enthusiasm? I know I shouldn't but sometimes I just want to tell her to put a sock in it, haha. On the same token I know that I drive some crazy with my enthusiasm as well, they may not verbalize it but I can see it in there eyes-put a sock in it!

    Not sure about the always be up idea. Perhaps because I'm a cynic.

    Wow I needed to read this before I blogged today. These are my usual life goals. I don't usually let people get to me and I try to maintain a positive attitude as we are all responsible for our own attitudes. But yesterday I blew it!!

Thanks for the reminder. emoticon

Don't Quit

Friday, October 16, 2009

(one the most classic motivational poems)

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

One of my favorite poems!

Life Choices!

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Well last week hubby bought two 10X20 storage units that an owner had defaulted on. He did not relize when he won the bid on them that they had been rented by the same person. The first one since 1998 and the second one since 2001. We have not even gotten one unit dealt with yet. The first one has been full of garbage, recyclables, and old food. Some of the stuff had obviously been through a fire and much water damage. There is no rhyme of reason to any of the packing so everything has to gone though piece by piece. The workers said that every month she would come in saying she could not afford the units. There are also lots of books. It is so sad to see that this person obviously could not deal with life. She was paying $230 every month to store garbage! There is probably not even $100 worth of anything in the first unit. We have spent about 30 hours so far and are just starting. We still have the second unit that we have not even started on. We have less then a week to vacate them.

My question to all of you who read this. Is there anything in your life that is draining your resources, that are prohibiting you from reaching your goals or keeping you from living the life you desire to. I urge you to clean house and get rid of it. Free yourself of the encumbrances that are holding you back whatever they may be!

    I don't let material junk clutter my life (I am an avid "no clutter" nut) but I imagine I let "junk" clutter my mind. Try to shake off those heavy bands every now and then. : ) teri

Although things are not perfect

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Although things are not perfect because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things love imparts to thee
Move out of " Camp Complaining " no weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship to "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude exalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but...
Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!
