I lost Thanks to SparkPeople

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I belong to an off line support group TOPS. Take off pound sensibly. I have been going to the group for about 15 years. I have lost weight and gained weight and my support group is always there to cheer me on and cry with me when I fall.

Due to work I have not been able to go for about 3 months. Tonight was my first night back. I was nervous that I had gained. Every scale is different and I knew that because mine said I lost did not mean another scale would say the same. I was glad to see my sparkfriend Irene there to greet me. I say many new faces and some old friends. I was nervous as I stepped on the scale.

I wish I will I wish tonight I hope I lost with all my might.
I have not always ate sensibly. I have not always wrote in my journal. I have ate some ice cream, pizza, and cookies. Oh not did I gain.

I am proud to say I lost 2.5lbs.

Some may think big deal but it is a big deal to me. I thought I needed the weekly motivation and accountability to stay on track. In the past I would cheat and think to myself I will walk extra the next day. Or who cares nobody saw me eat that ice cream. I do not have a weigh in who cares what I weigh.

My Spark community has helped so much keeping me focused and on track.
I have been encouraged to run in 5k races. Something I never would have done with out the support of my Spark Friends. I am not bored at night and thinking about eating because I am so busy reading and writing to my spark teams. I am reminded daily to stay on track, to try harder, to be honest with myself, to love myself, and to exercise.

In the past I would have gained weight especially with the stress of work, emotional eating and just plan not caring.

I am happy to have lost. I still have a ways to go on my weight loss journey but with the help of my online and offline friends I have the support I need.

Thank you SparkPeople you have kept me focused.

Woo-hoo! I, too, am a TOPS member. In fact, I am a KOPS for 5 years now. Plus a century club member as well. Your blog brought me so many memories. I remember that fear of facing the scale. But you faced it AND YOU WON!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad you lost also Becky. You lost 2 1/2 pounds, I lost 1 1/2 pounds instead of the half pound since the weight recorder didn't do the arthimetic right.
Let's keep up the good work.
Love ya gal.

Slow but Steady

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Finished my 2nd 5k. A cold front had just come in so the temp. was in the 60's. The wind was from the north and about 20-30 miles. Usually it is in the 80's what a difference. The race was for diabetes and I was support motivated to run in this race. My mother has diabetes and my late mother-in-law had the disease. I was glad to come in 2 mins. faster than the last race. I was so proud of myself. I need to remember I am important and I need to be strong for myself.

As a treat for myself I got some new shoes. The others were making my heels hurt. I had gotten a pair for overponers but I really do not think I have the problem. Eventhough I have been wearing them for about 5 months since I have been jogging they have started to hurt.

I went looking at several stores before I could find a pair I liked. I stayed with NB because they have the wide size. Most stores do not have wide shoes so easy to shop. I just ask show me a running shoe size 8 wide. No shoes, 1 pair and if I am lucky 2 pair to try on. Finally I found a pair. I just finished reading an article about running socks. I don't think I have a problem now but if I do 1/2 marathon I will look into it.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Irene you are so right I did read about the socks and how they make the shoes tighter. I am now going to start thinking about the socks I wear as well as the bra. As for running when it is cold. No it is not easier for me. My chest hurt to breath for awhile. I guess I am used to the warm weather.

Becky did you notice on the socks that they are cushioned so they might make your shoes too tight. I am sure you read it all though.

On your run. It is easier to run when it is cold I imagine.
I didn't even get out of the house today. Too weak and other complications.

Taking it easy

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Today I slept late. I got up at 6:15am
I had oatmeal with pumpkin for breakfast. It tastes like a pumpkin pie.
Testing still at work. I am so tired of testing. I want to do something other than watching students test.
I was going to go for a walk but plans change. Came home and walked on the treadmill. Rode the exercise bike and relaxed. I really do not want to do too much before Saturday.
Then my husband tells me At the beach there is going to be a get together of the Kayakers. I am going to go run then maybe to the beach Kayaking. I am really looking forward to the weekend. Bad part forecast Rain, Rain Rain.
Hope your day is just as goood.

Wonderful Monday

Monday, November 08, 2010

Wow I drove to work and the Sun was in eyes.
OM where are my sunglasses.
For breakfast had oatmeal, lunch chicken salad and snack some yogurt.
After work went for a 3 mile jog.
I got home so hungry made some high fiber pasta. I wrote down my calories and I had only used 600 cals.
Wow I had another bowl of pasta still under 1000 cals and I feed full and I feel great. I tried the low glyemic pasta and it really tastes good. It has 7g of protein. Maybe I can start adding pasta back in my diet.
