I ran my 1st 5K

I am going to Jog/Walk a 5K with TXDREAMSPINNER a Sparks Friend. I am so happy because if it had not been for Sparkspeople I would have never known about this event. I am looking forward to meeting Sommer in person.

I have not ran in a race in over 20 years. I was 30lbs thinner. I am not going to let the weight stop me. I am going to try my best and I will finish. I know I can walk 3 miles in 50 mins so I hope I can jog a 5k in less but who knows. I am looking forward to Oct. 23. If you live in the Rio Grande Valley near Rio Hondo come and see me and spread the spark.

Just get up

Tuesday is always a hard workout day. I just don't want to get up at 5:00am. The alarm went off I hit snooze and slept 20 more mins. I just kept hearing my TOPS leaders voice in my head. Just do at least 20 mins. of exercise you can do that. 20 mins. So I got up and walked 2.5 miles. Felt great. Everyday it is hard to get up but I know I in my head I feel better after I walk it is just getting out of bed.

I am proud I am another day of Sugar Free.

Adjusting

In the summer I was walking 6 miles a day and I only lost 5lbs. I was relaxed and rested. School started. It has taken me at least 6 weeks to adjust to less walking. Less calories and less sleep. Many days I thought it is just not worth getting up at 5am. I am so tired. The Biggest Loser started again and watching those people crying, sweating and struggling really motivates me to get up and move it. I can do it. I can enjoy life and eat healthy. Pizza and Wine Coolers do not make me healthy. Friday Night Football Pizza make a sluggish Saturday Morning walk or no desire to walk. Fast food does not help me walk faster or feel better. I need to focus on foods that make me feel healthy and full of energy. Candies and Chocolates taste great but the next day I am dragging and wanting more sugar. Say NO TO SUGAR

I know I can do this. I just needed to give myself time to adjust to a different schedule.

Habits

Habits are very hard to break. I am finding very easy to fall back into bad habits. With work making demands on my time it is easy to stop for fast food. Why do I think that eating unhealthy food will make me feel better. Eating a cookie will not help me feel less frustrated. Eating an Ice Cream will not take the stress away. Eating Chocolate will not take the headache away. I know this. Yes I know this. I have lost 60lbs so I know this but it is so easy to reach for the candy. It is easier to sleep in than to get out of bed and walk. Losing weight is hard. Stilling on the couch and eating potato chips is easy. But then I need to remind myself that living a healthy life is worth it. Thank you to my Spark Friends who remind me daily to stick to it.
